Shah Rukh will work in an action thriller with S Shankar, director of Sivaji: The Boss Back to Section Stories Posted On Tuesday, July 24, 2007 Ashwini Deshmukh Shah Rukh Khan After the blockbuster film Sivaji, starring Rajnikanth, director S Shankar is all set to work with Shah Rukh Khan. Shankar and Shah Rukh Khan will work together for an action thriller. Apparently, Shah Rukh has been in talks to work with Shankar for a long time now. Though the actor has yet to sign on the dotted line, the duo has discussed the script and other details of the film. It was only on the actor's request that the shooting will commence after a while. SRK has agreed to begin shooting for Shankar's film only after as he completes Shirish Kunder's film, which is untitled so far. S Shankar Shankar has won tremendous accolades for his recent release, Sivaji, prompting the makers to dub the film in Hindi and other foreign languages. A popular director from Tamil Nadu, Shankar has made many commercial Tamil movies based on social themes. He is also credited with delivering expensive, high-end computer graphics in most of his films. He started his career with Gentleman followed by blockbusters like Kadhalan, Indian, Jeans (one of Aishwarya Rai's first Hindi film) and Mudhalvan. He also directed the remake of Mudhalvan in Hindi titled Nayak with Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukherji. SRK signs Shankar, director of Rajnikant's Sivaji

After the phenomenal success of the Rajnikant starrer Sivaji , there was bound to be huge demand for the film's director Shankar. The latest is that none other than Shah Rukh Khan has managed to sign the director for his next film. Although details of the film aren't available, the film is bound to be a big budget film, considering Shankar has been known for his extravagant sets and huge budgets. The director was reportedly paid a whopping three crore rupees for Sivaji which had a huge budget of over Rs 35 crores.

Shankar has earlier done such films as the Aishwarya Rai starrer Jeans , and the Anil Kapoor starrer Nayak , besides other films. Shankar's last film before Sivaji was Anniyan which released in 2005. Considering that he's decided to direct Shah Rukh now, seems like the director will be doing more films and not be taking a long break as before.

When contacted about the rumour, Shah Rukh's manager Bobby Chawla, said, "This is news to me. We are still involved with Om Shanti Om , and I don't know anything about Shankar being signed for Shah Rukh's next."

Shah Rukh's next release, meanwhile, will be Yashraj's Chakde India , which is the story of a coach (played by Shah Rukh) who is instrumental in turning around the fortunes of a girls' hockey team.

Southern director Shivaji who turned Rajnikant into an immortal icon with The Boss has now shown his keenness to work with Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan. Khan too his keen to work with Shivaji. And if reports are to be believed the duo will soon embark on a film that promises to turn Khan into an icon too. Meanwhile Shah Rukh Khan is busy completing Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om that is expected to release this year.
