A surgery for hair transplant can cost anything from 1 lakh to three lakhs. Other stars like Jackie, Sanjay and Sunny too have had hair transplant done.
This obsession with his hair and his looks... Is he getting ready for nikaah
? Will he now say 'kabool hai
' to Katrina and stop all speculations. Then Katrina will be the woman to have turned the bad boy of the industry to a tamed man.
The almost bigger story is that it's not his own hair that has been woven. This is nylon hair that is being transplanted.
Trichologist Dr Ashit Shah of RichFeel clinic, Bandra says "If you see a bald man he has patches of hair at the base of his head, which is his natural hair. Under local anesthesia the follicles or the roots are relocated to the bald places by surgery which can take place between 2-4 hours. It takes around 4-6 months for the hair to grow again. It has the natural colour, texture and the growth of the original hair. It's an expensive procedure. If Salman had to go again for the transplant, then it's due to the use of unnatural hair made of black nylon used on his head. Here we don't do this kind of repeated surgeries, that's the reason he has to go abroad, being a celebrity he has to take care. Since its unnatural hair, it can get damaged with the creams and things he may use."
Unnatural hair transplant is a tricky surgery and is being mainly done abroad.
Stylist Adhuna Akhtar says, "I don't do this kind of surgery. You have to go abroad for this treatment."
Sapna Bhavnani, another stylist says, "I do hair extensions. Hair transplant is a surgery and we don't do this in the salons. They are done abroad. Even if someone asks me for suggestions I can't help them. You have to go on the net and read up all the given matter there and go to the right channels. This baldness is caused by the disease of the scalp and hair."
Salman and his various problems occupy not just his time but also the interest of the nation. In recent times his cases have taken a short break but instead of giving him some relief, Salman is facing serious hair problems. For the past two-three years Salman has been losing hair and going bald.
So in 2003 he went to America to get a hair transplant done, and he spent lakhs on the surgery. But when he came back the transplant went horribly bad and the poor guy had to shave his head bald. That year Salman had gone for the IIFA awards and in a rare moment of humour captured by the cameras a bald Feroz Khan had rubbed his hand on Salman's bald head and Khan had just smiled.
This is the time when Tere Naam
released, where he wore a wig in the first half and in the latter appeared bald.
Later again he went back to the USA for another hair weaving surgery and soon he was walking around with his crowning glory. Salman proudly flaunted his headfull of hair in Jaan-e-man
too, the way he proudly loves to show off his muscled body.
Now he flaunts his hair and his girlfriend too. Salman has openly escorted his girlfriend Katrina Kaif to public events. Though both don't talk or openly admit to their relationship. Khan had never in his past relationships, whether it was his college sweetheart Shaheen or later Sangeeta Bijlani, Somy Ali or his explosive affair with Aishwarya Rai, admitted to these women or was seen with them in public.
A month or so back for a shoot, Salman and Katrina had come together on the sets, went to their individual vans to get ready for the shoot. Katrina waited for her man to come back from his jog to eat with him, and they both ate together. Later Sallu got ready in a jiffy but patiently waited outside Kaif's van for her to come out. His famous temper did not explode, instead he joked around with his body guards. The couple sat quietly together while waiting for the lights to be ready, but when Salman comfortably slouched down in his chair, Katrina asked him to sit up straight and he had immediately complied with her orders.
Their pictures together show there's an ease, a comfort level between them and they look good together.
So maybe all this new look is not just for films, but also for a relationship that looks like it is here to stay.
