8.gif 8.gif Hello,

Note: there is a debate topic in this post.LOL If you find it, I will give you a hug.Wink

I wanted to share a song; it's from movie yaadgar, explores the realities of life as they were. I find the song funny, amusing, offensive at the same time. It's strange how progressive our movies were way back in time36.gif, and amazing how much it is today's reality.

Translation is provided. The word, Tara, I will use as such. But to let you know, Tara is an instrument, like a tumbi I guess or maybe the same thing. Also, I think the song sounds better in hindi, and I will try my best to translate, keeping the spirit of the song intact. 5.gif

Ek Tara bole, sun sun,
A Tara speaks, listen to what it says
Baat hai lambi matlab gol
It's a long story, and meaning dubious
khol na de ye sabki pol to phir uske baad .... ek tara bole..........
Hope it doens't reveal all, and afterwards smiley36.gif, the Tara says..

Kuch aise log bhi hote hain
There are some people
Apni galti par rote hain
who cry over spilled milk/mistakes
Apna to pet nahin bharta
They can't fill thier stomachs
Par das das bachhe hote hain
But produce multiple kids smiley36.gif
Har saal calender chap diya
Every year, a calander is printed (not sure what it means)
Parivar Niyojan saaf kiya
Family planning goes down the drain
To phir uske baad......ek tara bole..........
And afterwards... A tara says..

Pahle to tha chola burka
First all were fully clothed, in chola and burka
Phir kat kat ke woh hua kurta,
Then the burka became a kurta
Chole ki ab choli hai bani
Chola is now a blouse (hey am trying smiley36.gif)
Choli ke age kya hoga
what will become of the blouse?
Yeh faishon yohin badta gaya
This fashion keeps going
Aur kapda tan se ghata gaya
And clothes keep disappearing/ more skin show
To phir uske baad......... Ek tara bole.
And afterwards... a Tara says.. smiley36.gif

Aare hatt teri aisi taisi
get lost (to a guy)
Surat hai ladki jaisi
you look like a girl
Tang pant patli tange
Tight pants, and skinny legs
Lagti hain cigrett jaisi
they look like cigarette
Desh ka yahi jawan hai to
If this is the youth of our country
Desh ki yeh santan hai to
if this is our country's youth
Phir uske baad...... Ek tara bole.........
Then afterwards, a Tara says... smiley36.gif

Aare Rocket koi chadhata hai
Somebody sends a rocket into space
Koi atom bomb banata hai
others make atom bombs
Aman ke naam pe dekho woh
In the name of peace, see
Duniya pe rob jamata hai
he wants to control the world
Barood agar yeh chal jaye
if all these explosives go off
Aur sari dunia jal jaye
and the whole world burns down
To phir uske baad........ Ek tara bole......
And afterwards ... a TAra says...

Mandir se log ghabrate hain
People are hesitant to go to temples
Aur roz Club mein jate hain
And they go to discoteques everyday
Lo Bhakti Bajan sab bhul gaye
people have forgotten prayer and devotion
Aur filmi gane gate hain
And they sing movie songs smiley36.gif
Jab dharam nahin aur sharam nahin
when there is no religion and no shame
Koi bhi achha karam nahin
there is no nice deed done
To Phir uske baad...........Ek tara bole
then afterwards.... a tara says..

Do kisam ke neta hote hain
there are two kinds of leaders
Ek deta hai ek pata hai
one that gives, and another takes
Ek Desh ko loot ke khata hai
one who enjoys at the country's expense
Ek Desh pe jaan lutata hai
and another who sacrifices his life for the country
Ek zinda rah kar marta hai
one who dies even when he is alive
Ek mar kar jeevan pata hai
another who dies only to be live forever
Ek mara to namo nishan hi nahin
one who dies, never to be remembered
Ek yaadgar ban jata hai
one becomes a living legend
Bhagwan kare mere desh ke sab neta hi ban jayen aise
God willing, leaders of my country become the second kind
Tode se Lal Bahadur hon thode hon Nehru Jaise
Some of them be like Lal Bahadur, and others like Nehru
Ram na kare mere desh ko, kabhi bhi aisa neta mile
I hope our country never gets a leader
Jo aap bhi dube, desh bhi dube, janata ko bhi le dube
who drowns, and drowns the country and people w/ him
Vote liya aur khisak gaya
Takes votes and goes away
Jab kursi se chipak gaya
When he sticks to his chair smiley36.gif
To phir uske baad..... Ek tara bole.
Then afterwards smiley36.gif, a tara says...

Jis ghar mein daaku chor chupe
The house that houses thieves and dacoits
Us ghar ki mehnat kya hogi
what will be that house's honesty?
Jis daur ki yeh ann data hon
at times, when corrupt people are selling food
Us daur ki kismat kya hogi
what will be that generations destiny
Jis ma ke bacche bhukhe rahen
A mother, whose children, go unfed
Us ma ki halat kya hogi
what will be her state of mind?
Jo desh milawat khata ho
the country that feeds on 'milavati' (?) food
Us desh ki taqat kya hogi
what will be that coutnry's strength?
Yahi woh rashan wala hai
This is the same food seller
Jisne kuch kiya ghotala hai
who has been corrupt
Aate mein ret milayi hai
has mixed sand in flour
Shakkar mein aata dala hai
has mixed flour in sugar
Dunia yeh rashan khati rahi
the world eats this kind of food
Nit nayi bimari aati rahi
and a new disease comes into light
To phir uske baad......., Ek tara bole......
And after that... a tara says..

Jo doctor ban-kar aata hai
ones who become a doctor
Pahle ye kasme khata hai
first they take oaths
Seva main karunga janata ki
that I shall serve the people
Ye hi vishwas dilata hai
asks you to put trust in him
Aur jab degree mil jaati hai
but when he gets the degree
Is baat ko bhool hi jata hai
forgets all about the oath
Bhagwan ke piche doctor hi
after god, the doctor is
Insaan ki jaan bachata hai
is the one who saves people's lives
Bimar se jo nafrat khaye
one who hates the ill
Aur laparwahi kar jaye
and mistreats the patient
Wohi doctor is desh ki sabse
the same doctor of this country
Badi bimari ban jaye
becomes the biggest disease
Jo jaan ki keemat na samjhe
one who doesn't understand the value of life
Insaan ki keemat na samjhe
who doens't value humans
To phir uske baad.... Ek tara bole
then afterwards... a tara says...

Yeh lal hain Bharat Mata Ke
these are the sons of INdia
Ma se hi daga kamate hain
earns living off the mother (country) 2.gif
Yeh cheen ke roti bhaiyon ki
they snatch away food from their own brothers (countrymen)
Aapni jebe bhar jate hain
fill their own pockets
Us thaali mein hi ched karen
drill the hole in the plate
Jis thaali mein yeh khate hain
from which they eat (betraying their own)
Aapni janani ke doodh mein dekho
in their own mother's milk
Aap hi zajar milate hain
they put posion 2.gif
Janata ki kamai khate rahe
if they keep feeding off the public
Yeh yuhin loot machate rahe
if they keep looting the public/country
To phir uske baad...... Ek tara bole........
then afterwards... a tara says ..

Man, what a long song. Took so much time to translate....so, you better like it. smiley36.gif Let me know how it was grinny.gif; your opinion on the thoughts presented in the song. Obviously, we are still facing same problems, howcome nobody finds a solution? Howcome nothing has changed?Confused It only gets worse? meaning no hope for future?Ouch More questions... bollywood is known to plagarize without shame, have our movies always been so progressive? always imitating life? or life being immitated by art?

Yes, I like the song Tongue

Yeh kalyug hai bhai! What else to say Cry

In economics i remember asking the question to my teacher.."Does this subjects solves some of the problems Confused "..he said "No! it just points the problems"... Confused

So even acknowleging a problem is a step towards solution.. but i guess we are surrounded by so many problems that we have started forgetting to find solutions Ouch

Be back later Embarrassed

It is a good song. The debate I find in this is about "whether we really have progressed, whether we have really held on to the our beliefs in good karma? have we really gained freedom by being a free land?"
Even if it is wrong, give me a hug anyway Embarrassed Hug

Persy, as long as there still are good souls, I don't think we should decorate such a dark picture and sink in melancholy. Any society, any culture, any country will have shades of grey. Nothing is black or white and all these different shades make up for what an individual stand for, a couple stands for, a family.. so on so forth - a nation stands for. We can also read the poem and know that not all doctors are bad, not all children are bad, politicians LOL LOL let us skip that..

It is a lovely poem, but a bit pessimistic. As long as over 50% represent lighter shades of grey, we will survive.

Hmmm...11 mins 44 secs of typical Manoj Kumar patriotic stuff.

Anyway, who says India's not progressing. Haven't you seen the new Amitabh Bachhan ad for the UP Govt. and Samajwadi Party, 'Uttar Praesh mein hai dum, kyunki jurm yahan hain kum'; 'Agar punar janam ho to Uttar Pradesh ki dharti par ho'. Do you need more proof.Wink

wowwwwwwwwwwwww
never heard this song... but thank God I did.
Personally, I don't think it's TRUE.. but I think we're slowly getting to the point which this song describes.

What MNMS said is right... if students in India, Canada, USA, Africa... are taught such horrifics..I'm sure the world will improve. I mean some people live in a dream world, are naive and don't realize what's going on in our world. And others just don't know what to do. If schools and websites like India-Forums offer opportunities for us members to contribute to the world and promote a proper lifestyle, then I think our world can improve.

I mean education is everything, and though he made fun of doctors... if precedents of the doctor have been ignoring their oath, then obviously the newer doctors will do the same.

The world needs a revolution... and i think our generation needs to take action... and not necessarily fix the "mistakes" of the past generations, but bring about new ways of a lifestyle, encourage morality through different ways, encourage more efficient democracies, encourage fighting against poverty... i mean i may be going off topic... i think, we being the future of this country, really need to create a mentality through which we can promise to improve the world and show our pessimistic elders that we are actually responsible people and that we can promise an optimistic future.. a future filled with technological improvements that don't hurt our world, movies that encourage positive thinging and a bounty of emotions rather than sex and sexyness, and a corporate world which encourages talent rather than competition for more money and fame.

I think we can do it... and prove this song wrong. I love the song, because it fills me with a passion to work for my world.

*i'm not a politician... lol... just expressing my feelings.* Big smile

Nice thoughts, Yeah! Just wondering why everybody is linking 'pessimism' to the song? Confused Maybe, the song is only meant as a 'warning'. Big smile
