both of you are right, you question about silk sarees and vets are thought provoking. yes some think that this topic is only about non veg beings animal activists so bringing out the veg topic might be useless. but the point of debate it to bring out facts or topics that contradicts the other. so bringing out the vegs topic into limelight is a good one to prove if non veg animals activists are moral or not.

Good question, but I don't know the answer ! I am neither non-vegetarian nor an animal activist (Actually, activitist is far fetched, I am not a great animal lover eitherEmbarrassed)
