Few from me as well:

Reading up and keeping update abt the place one is visiting always enriches the experince of visiting the place, especially if its a new country.

For those who love to shoot on film, carry loads of extra film, and also most importantly extra batteries, since you wouldnt want your camera to go dead because of no battery when at a exotic place... Smile

Invest in a compact, safe and efficient camping gas stove and coking utensils which you can carry on your journey. Gas cylinders are quite easily availible and a stove can be invaluable when you are short of things to eat. It also allows you to eat in whichever scenic spot you want.
