Only one thing fresh air,

Producers of all those movies dont promote thier movies where children and small girls say that I want to be like jassi. You are not in india thats why you dont understand or have seen how they have promoted the show locally. hence you would have understood my POV. I respect and agree with your POV. But all i am doing is holding the serial producers guilty of going back on thier words nothing else.

Also did I even say that other serials are giving right messages. No please other serials are not giving the right messages but they are not even claming to be giving out the right messages. But it is jassi's  poducers who claim that they are giving out the right messages. I hold them for thier words and not for my principals. If they say something then shouldnt they follow it.

Jammy.

This forum is hillarious. I love it here. Everyone is so strong with their convictions. I normally browse and read and will occasionally say something which normally ellicits all sorts of reactions. Amazing. LOL

I am well aware of how JJKN is being projected in India. I am in Delhi, Bangalore & Kolkata every other month on work so its not unknown to me.

You guys are right. The thought of Armaan and Jassi doing anything in their weird habitual ways is quite scary so better to steer clear of any actions that might permanently traumatize and scare the public at large.

And Jammy.. thanks for the updates. I follow them most intently.

Jammy, FreshAir -

I totally agreed with your two points of view.

Jammy, I think you are right regarding the importance of Jassi's
character in India. She is supposed to be a strong modern day
girl with traditional indian values and her character was
introduced that way. For her to stray out of this ideal is one
going to be hard for the Indian audience to digest. Secondly it
defeats the purpose of her whole character and what it stand
for.

For FreshAir, as we here in the US see all these raunchy indian
movies and music videos and we are like whoa! What is going
on India? We are missing out! So some of us here in the US
wonder, why the big push on Jassi to be so moral and saintly
especially if all the characters around Jassi and in the JJKN
environment are sometimes not so saintly.

When movies...I am not sure how to explain what I am trying to
say...For example, "Jism" was promoted here, the movie was
not rated for adult content and promoted to all audiences.
Thus, we think the same is going on India. So what I am
understanding now is that a movie like Jism that appears NR
(not rated) would not be as promoted in India to all audiences
as it is here in the US.

Perhaps if Jassi wasn't presented to us as such a saint, then
there would be room for her to "do it" if she wanted to, At the
present time, Jassi needs to basically stay in her box so that
her character does not mislead the audience.   Tongue Tongue Tongue

but what exactly is traditional indian values? are we talking orthodox or 21st-century.

I am not asking for a whole gross make-out and "doing itLOL" session... but I firmly believe that Jassi can be a woman and be a girl and be moral and be steadfast and be intelligent (with a scary low self-esteem level as she has now) and still be a healthy woman who projects a strong positive message to all impressionable people out there.

What annoys me about Indian programming is that they teach the wrong things. For too many years women have been oppressed and taught the wrong things which is why today so many young girls and boys are rebelling in such an extreme way.

Why was sex and the realities of it kept from all of us all these years. Parents pretend it doesn't happen. Sexual abuse rampant in most traditional households yet everyone kept quiet and swept the dirt neath the carpet because.... parents and khandan reputation is at stake.

I watch Jassi for the same reason that millions of others do as well. She reflects so many of us in so many ways, and her perseverence and un-eering capacity to be honest, loyal and truthful is indeed great.. and I am not arguing that by any means. If only more of us could be like that and not become jaded to the realities of an "immoral" lifestyle.

But what about being a woman at the end of the day and having healthy normal feelings. She has a huge crush and infatuation with Armaan. She has dreamt all sorts of "happily ever after" stuff and surely a healthy need to be held in his arms is not the end-all of all moralities.

A strong positive woman of today is independent, rational, compassionate, intelligent and above all capable of deciding the rights and wrongs of a situation by herself. She can try new things, go to new places and do a myriad of things and not have to constantly live up to the expectations of those around her.

And let's face it.. Armaan has a relationship with Mallika.. they have been shown sleeping together, hugging, etc etc... Why must Jassi be so pristine while its ok for Armaan to do whatever he wants. Why the double standard. That in itself is a really bad message. It basically tells everyone that men can do whatever they want but women have to be saints (all this according to their defination of what a saint is).

Oh T&D... are you listening ?!?!?!?!?!Wink

ok..enough bhashan for 1 day.

Jammy-sir.. update please. LOL

Clap FreshAir.

I agree with you. However, as we have to appease to the
masses which means that we cannot even make a joke, Jassi
has to appease to the masses in India by keeping her
"character" pristine.

If Jassi was produced and directed here in the U.S. by Jammy
and you as the writer then maybe we can achieve what you are
saying (cuz I agree with you 100%) and at the same time be
entertained.   Big smile

Wacha say?
