I concur to this views.

Why should anyone be touchy about history? History should depict real facts. There were certain Hindu Kings who easily gave away their provinces to Britishers and remained dummy Kings to enjoy all luxury when others suffered. Mugals did invade Northen provinces just like Portugese entered through Kerala, East India company through Bengal later.

The problem is that the REAL facts are disputed...

If u read the Pakistani textbooks u'll get a totally different perspective... They have said something to the effect of.. The Hindu Society was totally ruined by the caste system and the Muslim invaders brought Islam to India as a savior to rescue all those who wanted to free themselves from the evils of the Indian Society... Muslims came to India for their own good and things like that...

One thing can be looked at from different perspectives... Instead of feeding young kids with ur own perspective... Its better to present those facts tht are not disputed... And let the children form opinions of their own...

I am not saying let us rewrite the entire history, but I do not want someone to teach a history from a political correct standpoint and forget about the atrocities committed, b'cos what we saw in Aurangzeb is revisiting us in the form of Taliban and we should have been the best prepared for this, than anybody else in the world b'cos we have dealt with this form earlier on.

But our current generation is left oblivious to this history and an important lesson is lost

We all are now citizens of this country, we should all know where we came from, what mistakes were made by our forefathers, so we do not repeat them, if you hid the mistakes of our forefathers, we will repeat them

History can be taught without causing religious disharmony

History can be taught w/o religious disharmony... But the present situation of the country does not permit that... Imagine history being taught justifying the demolition of the Babri Masjid... The overall portrayal of Muslims is a little in the negative.. Which invariably affects the student's line of thought...

I have read about Pakistani textbooks and the fact that their missile was named 'Ghouri' affirms it. They don't even consider themselves part of Indian history. I wouldn't like to get to Pakistan's history because may be it's true where they come from. But as far as Indian history is concerned it is a fact that Hindu Kings were attacked by Mugals and temples were destroyed. If the attacks are justified because Hindu society was degenerating because of Caste system then we can say that British were right in attacking us because Indian was divided into Hindu-Muslim society. In the worst scenario we can also justify America's invasion to Iraq, Afganisthan because their society was degenarating too.

Attacking another nation can never be justified. History should be taught irrespective of present scenario. Muslims and Hindus are very much part of the same history but that shouldn't distort the facts.

History is just not about one Babri Masjid. Muhammd Ghouri was one of the cruel invaders. In my opinion glorifying him is like feeding children with wrong information. Some facts in the history can never be deleted. So instead of giving children politically correct information, give them real facts.

If one says that Mughals attacked Indian provices then in what way would you or me be affected? All of us know the fact that we were under British rule for so many years still don't we move to UK/US/ Australia and live happily? Do we hate them?

And that is call converting people to a religion you believe in. Christian missionaries are doing just that in all developing countries. To a larger extend they have been successful too. Just like Lebanon has growing number of Christians  now I wouldn't wonder Iraq developing into one too. With your logic we shouldn't  bother as America is now the saviour of Iraq. The fact all of us know and don't want to admit is noone is anybody's saviour. People attack another nation to loot and fulfill their needs.
