Jesus Christ was crucified on the day which is widely known as Good Friday. On the third day after his crucifixion, Jesus resurrected from the dead  and returned to heaven. This day is known as Easter Sunday or Resurrection Sunday. Remembering and celebrating this day is a way to renew hope that we have victory over sin.

On the occasion of Easter, we, the crazy creatives, list down some of the most popular Symbols of Easter.

The Easter Bunny, also known as Spring Bunny, has become a prominent symbol of Easter. According to some sources, Easter Bunny first arrived in America in 1700s with German immigrants settled in Pennsylvania transported their tradition of an egg-laying hare called Osterhase' or Oschter Haws'. Their children made nests in which the bunny could lay its colored eggs. Eventually, this custom spread across USA and the fabled rabbit's Easter morning deliveries expanded to include chocolates and candies and gifts while decorated baskets replaced nests. It is also considered as a symbol of new life and abundance.

When people think of Easter, they think of Eggs. Eggs represent the new life that returns to nature during the spring. Christians also believe eggs represent Jesus's emergence from the tomb and resurrection. In olden days, Christians were forbidden from eating eggs during Lent and thus Easter was considered a day of egg delicacies. Easter egg hunts and egg rolling are the two most popular traditions of Easter.

Easter Lilies grow in the spring close to Easter time. They also symbolize new life and resurrection of Jesus. The white blossoms symbolize the purity of Jesus.

Easter bells are hung on doors and are rung on Easter to celebrate Jesus's resurrection.

The Cross is the symbol of Jesus's crucifixion and resurrection. It symbolizes God's power to forgive sins and give new life to people.

The life cycle of a Butterfly symbolizes the life of Jesus Christ. The first stage is the caterpillar which stands for his life on earth. Next stage is the cocoon stage portraying the crucifixion of Jesus. The third and final stage is the Butterfly representing Jesus's raising from the dead in a glorified body.

When Jesus arrived in Jerusalem on the first Palm Sunday, the people welcomed him by waving palm branches. On Easter, Christians would carry palm branches in parades and decorate the Churches with palm leaves.

The Lamb is another symbol associated with Jesus. In the Bible, he is often referred to as 'Lamb of God'.

Other symbols of Easter include Hot cross buns, Pretzels, Candles, Spring flowers like daffodils, tulips, etc.

We Crazy Creatives wish all of you a very Happy Easter!
