The otherwise cool and composed Vikas Bhalla went berserk complaining about his sleeping problems to the unit members of his new show, B News on Zee Music. Vikas, who is currently hosting B News had requested the producer to arrange for a vanity van for his personal use during late night shoots. The singer-turned-actor was extremely hurt when the production house turned a deaf ear to him.
Says Vikas, "It's been two weeks that I've started shooting for B News, but despite my repeated appeals, I have not been provided with a van." Vikas, who has to shoot late nights at a suburban cinema hall, feels that the show has taken a toll on his health. "There isn't any couch where I can relax in between shots or during the breaks. I've done night shifts in the past, but have never been in a situation like this before. I need a proper place to relax."
Apparently, the other anchors along with Vikas have been forced to use the theatre chairs to lie down on during breaks. "I have almost damaged my back because of this and feel over-stressed in the mornings," Vikas adds.
But Vikas is hopeful that the production house will take this problem seriously and will do something about it. "I've put my foot down and asked them for a vanity van and they have assured that they'll provide me with one before the next schedule."
When contacted Salini Sethi, the creative head of B News, said, "Why does Vikas need a vanity van? Our night shifts barely last for five to six hours and we usually wind up two episodes in that time. There is hardly any time for breaks. We shoot non-stop. And if Vikas needs to relax, there are make-shift rooms at his convenience. I don't see any reason for demanding a vanity van. We shoot in an air-conditioned theatre. So, no vans will be provided to any of the actors."
It seems that the battle has just begun…I've done night shifts in the past, but have never been in a situation like this before— Vikas Bhalla
