Inspiration
Mohandas Gandhi, the Indian spiritual and political leader was deeply inspired by Rama's strict adherence of satya (truth) and dharma despite hardship and personal travails. Gandhi was encouraged by Rama's example when he faced personal crises and crucial difficulties. A chapter in his autobiography is titled the same: Nirbal ke Bal Ram (Rama is the strength for the weak). When Gandhi was shot three times in the chest on January 30, 1948, his dying words were He Ram, He Ram. On religious occasions, Hindus often chant the name of Rama to express their devotion to God and invoke the holy. Ram Naam Jhaapo (Chant the name of Rama) is a popular bhajan, devotional song and a meditative mantra. In the ceremony of cremating the dead, Hindus often chant Ram Nam Satya Hai (Rama's name is Truth).

Mode of education in Ramayana's time
Story telling was definitely a mode of education in Ramayana's time. The Baalkanda of Valmiki Ramayan is full of stories. Rama and Lakshmana were told numerous stories by Vishwamitra. These stories of Shiva, Ganga, Kartikeya, Indra, Samudra-Manthan were supposedly from puranas. In Ramayana, if one wants to convince something to other he takes help of stories. Sita is found telling story to Rama and to Hanuman in Lanka. Many sages came to meet Rama in uttarKaanda. They tell many valuable stories to Rama and people of Ayodhya.

Lord Rama stands out as the most glorious of all characters found in scriptural literature. In the Ramayana sage Valmiki has symbolise'd Rama as an ideal of perfection. No other character in the scriptures has been personified with such perfect qualities in all aspects of life. He was a perfect son, an ideal king, a true husband, a real friend, a devoted brother, and a noble enemy etc. Lord Rama carring his bow and arrows symbolized alertness and readiness to fight against iniquity at any time to establish justice and peace.

Space images taken by NASA reveal a mysterious ancient bridge in the Palk Strait between India and Sri Lanka. The recently discovered bridge currently named as Adam's Bridge is made of chain of shoals, c.18 mi (30 km) long.

The bridge's unique curvature and composition by age reveals that it is man made. The legends as well as Archeological studies reveal that the first signs of human inhabitants in Sri Lanka date back to the a primitive age, about 1,750,000 years ago and the bridge's age is also almost equivalent.

This information is a crucial aspect for an insight into the Hindu legend called Ramayana, which was supposed to have taken place in the age of treta yuga (0.869 to 2.165 million years back).

In this epic, it is stated in the Hindu scriptures that a bridge was built between Rameshwaram (India) and Srilankan coast under the supervision of a dynamic and invincible figure called Lord Ram, who was the incarnation of the supreme. The bridge was built by Lord Ram with the help of his army of monkeys to cross over to Lanka to rescue his wife Sita, who was captured by the demon king of Lanka, Ravana.

This bridge conclusively proves:

1.      Lord Ram existed.

2.      The Vedic religion is the oldest religion in the world, dating back to at least 1.7 million years.

3.      The Vedic scriptures are the oldest known to man, dating back to at least 1.7 million years.

4.      According to Genesis, Adam and Eve were the first humans and they lived 6000 years ago. This bridge proves that man has existed for millions of years and not just 6000.

Comparison with Krishna
Although Rama and Krishna, both incarnations of Vishnu, are almost equally popular among Hindu devotees, Rama is seen as an archetype of righteousness and the most sought-after virtues in life, in contrast to Krishna's dalliances and shenanigans. The prefix "Shri" to Rama indicates that Rama is always associated with "Shri" - the essence of four Vedas. Uttering his name ("Ram! Ram!") while greeting a friend, and invoking Rama at the time of death by chanting "Ram Naam Satya Hai!", show his popularity and admiration over Krishna. However, the shrines of Krishna in India slightly outnumber the temples of Rama and his monkey devotee Hanuman.
