Here's why Vishal Bhardwaj titled Shahid, Saif & Kangana's film Rangoon!
Vishal Bharadwaj's upcoming venture Rangoon, as we all know stars Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in the lead. But what we do not know is that the movie which was earlier titled as Julia, according to a report in Deccan Chronicle, was later changed to Rangoon on insistence of Shahid and Saif.
The two male leads in the film did not want the audiences to have a perception of the movie being only women-centric even when the male characters have meaty roles to play. Kangana plays the central role of a bar dancer called Julia.
The film is set in the backdrop of the Second World War, the period when the British Army had fought against the Indian National Army in Burma; which was known as Rangoon at that time and is a biopic on actress and stunt-woman Mary Evans Nadia, popularly known as "Fearless Nadia".
A source said informed Deccan Chronicle, "Vishal had earlier titled the film Julia but the title was making it look like a women-centric film. The makers thought that people might get confused. Also, it was heard that both Shahid and Saif were not happy with that title."
The film that is supposedly a love triangle and is set for a 2016 release.
