Rishbala OS: Rocky to Rock Solid
Part One
His eyes glimmered with pride as his biwi's name was announced as the winner of one of the most coveted award of red carpet season. Standing up, RK cheered and clapped widely, sporting a mile wide grin. His Madhu has won the best actress award for enacting the role of a tough, kick-ass, single mom raising a daughter, played by none other than their youngest daughter Maya. In a industry that only appreciated comedic, romantic and male-centric movies, Madhu managed to capture the attention of an industry and society that shunned single mothers with her effortless brilliance.
RK wrapped an arm around Maya as Madhu praised their 6 year old for portraying a sweet yet spunky tomboy. He leaned down and dropped a kiss on her wild disarray of curls that she has inherited from her mother. Two of his three favorite girls have made him immensely proud today for winning awards in best and supporting actress category. He chuckled mentally, his baby girl already winning major awards at such a tender age can only mean that she will far surpass him in superstardom.
Maya is just like him in many respects. She has a penchant for theatrics, unlike her older siblings. Not to say that Vibha and Arjun does not have their own dramatic moments but theirs are more along the lines of teenage angst. But she is also just like her mother; sweet, caring and thinking about others needs. RK mused, he is proud of all children. He knows one day they will grow up to be wonderful, responsible adults, thanks to his biwi's strict upbringing. But he can't help but be a little more proud of his baby girl, Maya, tonight.
As Madhu finished up her speech, RK watched with amusement, as she gracefully walked off the stage, sending a quick wink in his direction. He smiled brightly and felt his heart swell with pride for her achievement. Thinking back to their rocky past, RK cursed inwardly for making Madhu's first foray in a film, so difficult and painful. She had stepped out of her comfort zone to help him in his shaky, about to fail venture to produce his own film. Without her, Superstar RK would have turned into a speck of dust; irrelevant and forgotten.
Feeling a soft touch on his shoulder, RK broke out of his depressing thoughts and glanced up. Madhu sat down and leaned her head on his shoulder and asked in a soft, worried tone, "What's wrong? What are you thinking about?"
RK shook his and smiled at her. He leaned down and kissed her forehead and whispered, "Nothing important." He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, uncaring of the sly glances they are receiving and whispered happily, "I love you Biwi and I am so proud of you."
Madhu flashed a brilliant smile and kissed RK's cheeks and whispered affectionately, "Thank you and I love you too my dearest Pati." She pulled back and cheekily continued, "Now hush and pay attention before our kids disown us for romancing in front of them." RK chuckled and nodded his head in agreement.
He sat back and tried to pay attention but his mind returned back to his previous thought. How could he have been such an ass to his own Biwi? RK felt ashamed that due to his own insecurity and selfishness, he asked Madhu to abort their baby. After all the shit he put her through, she had a miscarriage. And he had the audacity to blame her for it. RK thought morosely, how could he have been so cruel to blame his Biwi for losing their baby when she was the only one fighting to bring into this world? He should have received a thousand slaps for his inexcusable behavior. RK glanced at Madhu and then sent a quick prayer above, thank goodness he didn't loose her over his stupidity.
