Some Girls are stared for wearing crop tops by the people who think its clothes that speak about the character of a woman ...

Some are bullied for wearing Salwar suits by so called modern people who think modernization comes only from clothes ..

Some are eve teased even though they are wearing a saree which is considered to be the most decent dress...

Friend, Its not about saree, jeans- top, mini skirts, crop tops or salwar suits... Its all in the mind of the people... πŸ˜†

Women wearing sarees will never be questioned but women wearing crop tops will be stared as if they are wearing a bikini. Wat u all think of dis?

Haven't read all the responses yet but this question sounds very similar to this one "Why do women feel liberated when they wear bikini and go out to swim while they would feel it is private when they wear lingerie." I feel they both expose same amount of skin and in many cases the pattern or dimensions of both said garments are comparable. One thing that comes to my mind is the purpose of the attire.

I don't see ur question as similar as bikinis r made for outdoors n lingeries r made for indoors same as party gown n nightie gown difference. But both sarees r crop tops r made for outdoors.

still a sari looks more decent not vulgar somehow maybe it's designed that way.. the pallu on shoulder no matter how transparent it is does the trick maybe..

The pallu is supposed to go across covering most of mid-rif and breasts.. but women tend to wear so as tto attract more attention - you cant help that.. the point you have option to cover or to show off.. with crop tops there is nothing like that.. if it shows mid-riff it will, there is no way to avoid that.. and that the reason they also get the stares.. women wearing sarees use tactical ways to hide and show wherever they feel would be to their advantage😊

Honestly with me I dont have an issue with either an saree or crop-top or heck even wearing a sports bra with some yoga pants. Its your body and you should express yourself how you see fit, if you are comfy with a tees and shorts then wear that if your prefer pants and a full sleeve shirt then go for that.
But since you live in india which is a very traditional country you should be aware that those types of comments will arise and you just need to learn how to deal with them. Girl's and their character should not be defined by the cloths on their body but it is. So you would only have 3 options learn to deal with the auntie's comments and expressions, or change how you dress and adapt to their values or you should start educating everyone around you so they r more accepting.

Its all about the environment the person has grown in which shapes his or her thoughts.

Like @LIF said its all in the mind.

Hopefully with time and education thinks are improving! Poeple have started respecting different perspectives.

question should be why are women subjected to such policing where as men are not. Women should be free to wear whatever they feel comfortable in as long as they are not breaking any law regardless of shape and size. If they look good to themselves rest of the world should be okay with that.
Problem is women also don't tolerate other women dressing differently than their own mind sets are. It is kind of sad to be honest.
