I know it has been such a long time since i haven't updated.
So thought to give you an update today .
CHAPTER -22
Next morning -
Nandini got up early next morning.
It was the day of the intra college competition.
Though the competition was just a formality but still Nandini was very nervous.
Nandini's p.o.v-
Oh God... Please be with me today.
Aaj do competitions hai ek sath. Pata nahi mai kaise perform karungi. Both Dhruv and Manik are best in their own talents.
I hope I don't let them down.
I have to give my hundred percent in both the competitions.
Please please please help me.
I got ready in 15 min after taking a quick shower, put all the necessary things in my bag and went down.
Manik was waiting as usual infront of the hostel gate.
I greeted him but he was lost somewhere.
I shaked Manik a little and he came back from his thoughts.
Manik kya hua. Kaha kho gaye the - I asked.
Manik - Kahi nahi. Chale...
I said - Haan Chalo.
We both sat in his car and drove to the college.
Unlike other days Manik was silent.
I tried to initiate a conversation but he was lost in his own world.
It was very unlike Manik.
We reached the college and Manik parked the car while I waited for him at the entrance.
He was still silent so I held his hand and took him to a nearby empty classroom and closed the door behind.
Manik - Nandini ye kya kar rahi ho?
I asked - Tum batao Pehle tumhe kya hua hai? Itne chup chap kyu ho?
Manik - Nandini wo ... mai...
He was struggling with his words .
I held his hand in my hands and said- Manik you can share with me. Kya hua hai tumhe?
Manik - Nandini Ek baat puchu tumse...
I said- Haan pucho na.
Manik - Do you trust me?
I asked - Ofcourse I do...
Manik - Agar tumhe kabhi pata chale ki I have broken your trust to will you forgive me?
I said- Manik... Aur Kuch ho na ho but I know one thing for sure ke you can't break my trust. In fact tum to Kisi aur ka bhi trust break nahi karsakte. You are too cute for that...
I pinched his cheeks playfully.
He gave a weak smile .
He Was about to say something but I interrupted him .
Manik don't you think we are getting late for the competition.
Ye quiz session competition ke baad continue kare?
Saying this I dragged him to the auditorium.
I went to Dhruv and Manik joined his friends.
Dhruv and me discussed the points to keep in mind while answering the questions.
The quiz competition was first in the afternoon and then the dance competition was in the evening.
Time passed by in a jiffy and now it was time for the quiz competition.
I looked at Manik before going on the stage and found him already looking at me.
He wished me good luck by gestures and I smiled and nodded.
Then I went to the stage and sat beside Dhruv in the seat alloted to us.
There were Four teams with two people each.
The quiz competition comprised of 3 rounds in total and in each round the weakest performer would get eliminated. The team that won this competition would be competing with the other colleges .
Dhruv wished me good luck and I wished him back.
I closed my eyes and prayed to God to be by My side.
The quiz master started the first round and Dhruv and me answered all the 4 questions correctly.
We were leading in the first round and then in the second round we couldn't answer one question correctly so we lost the second round.
I got really nervous as we had just one round to deal with and the last round was an individual round and we couldn't take the help of our partner to answer the question.
Dhruv told me not to panic but it wasn't helping me in any way.
Luckily the opposite team had got all the 4 questions wrong.
And Dhruv answered 2 of his questions correctly and now we needed just one point to me.
All the burden of winning came on me.
The Quiz master asked me the round deciding question and i went blank.
I couldn't even open my mouth due to nervousness.
Then I looked at Manik who asked me through gestures to take a deep breath and then answer the question.
I did as instructed by Manik and answered the question and then closed my eyes and gulped the saliva.
The quiz master said - Ok. Let's see if you got this one right. And your answer is...
There was complete silence around.
I was damn sure that I had given the wrong answer and had failed myself and Dhruv and most importantly Manik.
Then suddenly the quiz master said absolutely correct... You have won this competition.
Dhruv and Nandini are the winners of this competition.
There was a huge round of applause from the fellow students.
I opened my eyes wide and looked at Dhruv to confirm if I heard right.
Dhruv nodded his head and I let out a shout - Ahhh... oh my god oh my god. We won we won.
Out of excitement I hugged Dhruv and then immediately broke the hug and Both of us congratulated each other.
The judge of the competition handed us a certificate and congratulated us.
I was so happy. I looked at Manik Who was clapping for my victory.
I mouthed a thank you and he said - Welcome.
I excused myself from everyone who were congratulating me and Dhruv.
I was going to Manik but our professor stopped me and asked Dhruv and me to meet him in his office.
I half-heartedly went to the cabin with Dhruv and the Professor gave a long list of Dos and Dont's in the actual competition and asked us to work even harder. It took one hour in his cabin.
Then the Professor asked me to go and get ready for the dance competition as just one hour was left.
I went to the girls changing room to get ready.
