After a jilted lover, I'd love to play a cool casanova: Arjun Kapoor

Arjun Kapoor to take off to the Big Apple with another adaptation of a Chetan Bhagat book and a new hairstyle.

Arjun Kapoor admits that his risk of playing a house-husband opposite chic corporate honcho Kareena Kapoor in R Balki's last release Ki & Ka, has got him more bouquets than ever in his five-year career. Now, the 30-year-old actor is gearing up to welcome more love into his life. But he's quick to point out that the romance will be strictly for reel life. 

"I've played the angry young man, Parma, in my debut film, Ishaqzaade, followed by romantic roles in 2 States, Finding Fanny and Tevar. Now, I'll be seen as the jilted lover in Half Girlfriend. But I'm still waiting to be seen as the ultimate lover boy, Raj from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and hopefully I'll get to play a cool Casanova next!" he jokes, quick to add with a laugh, "Before you ask me whether I have even been jilted in love, it's something only the girls can answer." 

Two weeks ago, a clean-shaven Arjun, sporting a new hairdo was spotted walking out of a suburban stylist's studio with the film's director Mohit Suri. When asked if that was his look in the upcoming romance-drama, based on a Chetan Bhagat bestseller by the same name, the actor pointed out that he has multiple looks in Half Girlfriend which takes off in New York next month. "I haven't even passed 11th grade, so I never went to college. But the beauty of being an actor is that I get to film in several now and live the life of a student," he smiles. 

As part of his prep, Arjun has also been sweating it out on the basketball court every week for the last four months. He did not read 2 States, adaptation of another Bhagat novel, and has no plans of reading this one either. "The script is a refined version of the book, which if I read, I'd want all of it on screen and that's not possible. A director has a sharper vision, I like the fresh perspective," he reasons. 

His co-star in the film Shraddha has already debuted as a singer. Is Arjun up for a duet with her? "Are you insane? I cannot sing to save my life, never!" he exclaims. 

Buzz is, he is once again teaming up with his Tevar-director, Amit Sharma, and another film being produced by dad, Boney Kapoor. "Whenever we meet, we discuss work. Amit is a dear friend and I would love to work with dad too, but all three of us are in the process of writing, discovering and going backand-forth on material," he points out, insisting that besides Mohit's film he has not signed any other project. 

"I plan to go off on a long vacation after Half Girlfriend and not tell anyone where I am headed, the way I did two years ago. By the year-end I am going to disappear to an exotic, undisclosed destination. No one will ever know where I went or whom I took along," he winks.
