"hey, what's up ??!!" I entered my house and Rishab was busy doing something on the table.
"hi.." he replied
Huh!!!! That was soo dull.
"what happened little brother??? Such a dull greeting! Mood kharab hai kya? Subah toh you were mocking me soo much?" I teased him but he kept mum.
Oh I love this so much!
"anyway, I shopped for you a little, at the market but I guess you're not interested. So no point giving it to you right! Umm...I'll give it to Aayush! Once we return!! Because, atleast he greets me PROPERLY!!"
I can see his change of expressions.
Oh...he looks so cute!
"NO!!" He jumped out of his seat suddenly.
"you're not giving any of my stuff to that bratty cousin of ours!!!" he was spitting venom from his mouth, eyes and almost every action of his while this was turning amusing for me.
And suddenly the ferocious Rishab turned into a puppy like Rishab.
"and my sweet sister... Who said I don't greet you properly? I do it very well!!! Yeah! But that Aayush... He na...he always talks rubbish about you. He talks very nicely to you but behind your back he behaves like a jerk...that's why I don't like him! But see, I never talk rubbish on your back!!!!" his 'oh so sweet' words were soothing to my ears. Really??!!
"yeah, you don't. Because you say all the rubbish on my face only...so you see there's no point talking behind my back!"
I was giving such a beautiful smile. Ab kya bataoon?
"you're giving my stuff to me or not?" he shouted so how can I stand back.
"no!" I tried my best to kill him with my shooting glares but this idiot is still standing alright! Why ayiappa??
"okay!" he said and the next second, I felt my hands empty. Oh my my!! The bag! Rishab snatched it away from my hand and now was busy emptying it.
I shook my head in disbelief!
Iss gadhe ka kuchh nhi ho sakta!
"did the aquarium call?" I asked him hoping to get some attention but alas!!
I turned to go to the balcony and as soon as I entered.
"hey!!!! Shoo...shoo!! Go away! Idiot raccoon, leave the babies!!!!!"
I came running all the way from the house to the shore. I saw from the balcony that again the raccoon was meandering around the area.
"hush!" I sighed loudly, finally successful in shooing away that idiot.
Thank goodness that the eggs were protected otherwise he would have fed on them already.
Pat yourself on the back, Nandini! Great job!
But what if he returns and tries to find a way to get in.
"kuchh karna padega!" I said and returned back to my house.
"daddy! Will you show me your workshop plz?" Rishab requested Vikram.
"sure champ! But where is your sister, I can't see her in the house. It's late night, already!" he said while roaming around the house and checking in rooms to find any trace of Nandini.
"oh...Nandini! You're talking about the elder or the younger one?" Rishab said nonchalantly.
"huh?!" and Vikram was utterly confused.
"actually, you know my elder sister Nandini... She's a good girl. She went to the market today and was pretty kind enough to shop for me but unfortunately I don't know where she is now. And my younger sister Nandini... That crazy little girl is sleeping out in the cold on the beach by the turtle's nest!" Rishab explained and Vikram chuckled a bit but then immediately rushed to the balcony.
There he saw a little light coming from near the beachside.
He moved to that area and saw Nandini sleeping on a portable beach bed with some of her necessary stuff kept beside her.
He smiled seeing her craziness and then covering her with a duvet he moved back to the house.
"come Rishab!! I'll show you the workshop." saying this the father and the son moved to a room in their house.
The room had a huge marble table in the centre with a bright light hung above it. All around were numerous shelfs which had all kinds of tools, wooden pieces, marbles and glass tiles of different sizes and colours.
"what is all this stuff?" Rishab expressed his confusion while touching a few materials kept on the table.
"well...I am making a stain glass window for the church down the road. You must have seen it while coming here." Vikram said.
"yeah! How did it happen?" Rishab asked while still going around the room.
"I... Umm...I don't know! It was some sort of accident, I guess." Vikram stammered with his words.
"this is so cool!" Rishab shrugged away his father's words and contentrated on a blue glass tile that he picked from the table. It was cut into a beautiful shape and the father smiled seeing his kid's excitement.
"unfortunately, I am lookimg for an assistant but nobody's willing." Vikram said leaning onto the table.
"why not?! Ahh...dad, I'll do it!!" Rishab said readily.
"really?" Vikram expressed his amusement by raising his brows.
"yeah! I do it for free!" Rishab was excited.
"ok! You're hired, young man!" Vikram showed him a thumbs up and the next moment the 13 year old jumped in his father's arms.
"really daddy? Thankyou so much!!! This is so awesome."
After sometime, they exited the room for their sleep.
Ahh! What was this sound?
I clicked open the torch I had and looked over the nest.
"who's there?" I shouted into thin air after listening to that ugly sound again.
Oh my Ayiappa!!!!! Help me!
I roamed around all over the place with the torch in my hand. This ugly sound literally broke my beauty sleep! Once I find the person doing this na...I will not leave him!
I turned around in horror and then
There was a raccoon! That bloody idiot raccoon was sitting over my bed and making ugly sounds!
In terror, I just ran... Not caring about anything! I ran towards the house.
Arre yaar! Marna thodi hai!
"hey!" a hand tapped me on my cheek. Offo! Why can't I get a sound sleep out here. It was a stupidity to come out here in the open again and sleep.
"hey...!!" again. And that stupid sun is making it all the more difficult.
Scrunching my eyes a little, I opened them and Oh. My. God.!
Why does everyone has to scare me out of my sleep.
"what are you doing here?" I asked.
"what are you doing here?" Manik questioned back.
"I asked you first!" this idiot, first he woke me up by scaring the hell out of me. Like obviously, on a private beach why would I expect him to be here??!! That too in my house!
Okay...near my house!
And then he is acting stupid.
"am...here to mark a turtle's nest." he said looking around and my face was like 'what??!!'
"you work for the aquarium too? I thought you were a mechanic!"
just yesterday I saw him with a greasy face and a mechanic's blue t-shirt on.
"well, technically I don't work there! I volunteer there." he said so casually.
"I called yesterday!" I got up and charged towards him while he had "woohhh" kinda expression.
Good that you scared him.
"is everything okay??" really? He's asking me that.
"No. Everything's that not okay!! There are raccoons out here all night." I said right in his face.
"really?! So where are they right now?"
"I scared them away." I answered and moved to the side of my beach bed and started picking up my belongings.
"well am not surprised! I am little scared too." he said and bent down for his work.
"hhahahaaahahah" I laughed.
Oh god! He really manages to bring out the sarcastic Nandini in me!
"That's really funny!" I continued laughing... "you know I would really like to see you sleeping here while it's freezing cold at night, with a baseball bat in your hand and some stupid raccoons terrorize you!!" I could myself feel the change in my tone from sarcastic laugh to a stern one.
I ended with a 'duh' expression and he laughed.
Seriously, he laughed!!
"you really slept out here all night?" what?? He just woke me up na and still he's asking...!!!
"nooo!" I said smiling and shrugging my shoulders. "my hair look like a nest of sparrows all by itself."
And then I saw his eyes dart to my hair. Is he stupid or what?
"I wasn't going to mention the hair but...you yourself did."
I stood up while he surfed through my stuff that is used to cover the nest.
Picking up one basket that I had put he asked..."this is all your creation?"
He stood up and pointed around the nest.
"why? You have a problem with that?
"not really. Apart from the fact that when the eggs hatch... the turtles won't be able to get back to the sea, so they'll starve and...die!" he said and looked at me while I quickly shut my mouth which had opened to pour out another bundle of sarcastic words.
I glanced towards the nest.
Ohh my poor babies! And their sweet mother too... I'm so sorry! I never realised that.
But how could I surrender before this 'Mr. Lambu Stranger'.
So looking at him one more time, I turned back and started walking towards my house, leaving him to continue his work.
"Bye Nandini!" I heard him shout when I had almost reached the stairs to my house.
I smiled at this guy's craziness and moved in.
Oh boy! I can never understand you..
So, peeps!!!! Done with another update! Tell me how was it!
Will be waiting for your fabulous thumbs ups and soothing and heartwarming words.
