Note- Not that I
planned this one, but since I've been getting mortal threats, just decided to
save my life!!!
Other than that I also thought there are some loose ends, so
just decided to tie them up.
And This one is dedicated to everyone who asked for it
They were driving back to their house from the mansion after
taking blessings of his parents', first thing they did after getting married in
a temple, and a quiet family affair as Maan liked it. Socializing was something
he'd disliked from the beginning, maybe it finds its roots when he was
subjected to lot of sympathy subsequent to his parents death, and so this
reception thingy was making him all the more awkward! But as usual his masi-maa
wouldn't hear any of it.
"Can we not postpone it at least; you know I am still weak
from the operation.
He tried his luck last time and Geet covered her face lest
anyone saw her smile, come on it was a year now since he had that "operation
his masi-maa gave him a glare which was in no way less than the famous MSK
glare, and finally Geet came to know from where he learnt that from. But she
didn't say anything, and Maan kept whining like a kid all the way back.
Dev-Meera went home already to welcome them.
Once they'd entered their house with all the rituals, his masi
took him on remand.
"We live in a society Maan. I had to agree when you
requested for a simple marriage as I thought that exaggerated ceremonies might
tire you, but not wanting a reception is just too much, cant you go through it
just a couple of hours, not for me or the society but your wife at least. An
intelligent man like you must know that every girl has certain dreams about her
marriage, yet she has sacrificed all in front of your well being. And all you
care about is your fear to socialize!
She was satisfied to see his expressions changing from
confused to shock to realisations, she
ignored the gasp that escaped his lips at her last words and continued
her lecture not before showing a hand to Geet who was about to intervene.
"Now, did you think I don't know what the matter is? Maa hu
tumhari! But there is a limit to everything.
She took a deep breath and continued.
"It was you who promised her a better life and it's high
time you started keeping your promises, do you understand?
He just nodded not trusting himself to say something
intelligent at the moment. But he agreed with her completely.
After a silent dinner which mostly
passed in Maan concentrating on his food as he has never seen food in his life
while Savitriji looked up from her plate time to time to glare at Maan which he
might not see but Geet was sure he could feel it, for others it went away in
eye-tennis as they took turns to look at the scene between mother and son; Savitriji
sighed heavily and left for her room still not happy with Maan's attitude. Geet
didn't know whom to favour, mother or son, hence kept quite till meera escorted
her to her room; that was when she remembered it was supposed to be her wedding
night and she blushed till the roots of her hair, still not sure the sudden
rush of blood came because she'd forgotten it or that she remembered it again!
She sat on the bed waiting for Maan,
not knowing what to expect. After the initial nervousness and his delay her
thoughts drifted back to his mood being sombre. In her long stay in this house,
she'd never seen a difference in opinion between Maan and his masi-maa, and she
knew how much it'd affect him.
The door creaked open making her
aware of his presence and she left the bed and reached his side immediately to
sooth him. She didn't need him to say it; she knew it from his steps that he
was in thoughts.
She gave him a worried look but he
returned a light smile, nevertheless it reached his eyes and she left a sigh of
relief. She pulled him to bed and handed him a glass of water after making him
sit. He held her hand rather than glass and gazed at her with eyes full of
love, he couldn't believe he was so lucky to have her in his life and actually
have a life to spend with her. She gave a confused look to which he nodded no
and made her sit next to him as he left her hand and took the water.
"Waise geet, traditionally suhaag
raat me wife apne husband to milk glass offer karti hai.
She looked at him with horror
written over her face, here she was worried about him and he's making casual
flirty comments. Seeing her face he had a hard time to control his laugh and
pushed her more.
"Not that I know much, just saw in
a couple of movies...
He added with a grin on his face
and she looked on with a murder clearly written on her face. She was just about
to launch herself at him with an intention to beat him black and blue when he
held both her hands his tight grip as if anticipating her move.
"Maan! Here I am worried about your
argument with maa, and you are sitting so casually.
She at last voiced her worries and
he left her and sat straight avoiding her eyes.
"I can talk her out of it, if you
really don't want it we don't have to do it.
She said keeping her hands at his
shoulder urging him to look at her. He turned at once and held both her hands
"Do you want it geet...?
It was a simple question, but it
was his voice that made her fumble, she looked into his eyes then and spoke
"Not if you don't want it.
He smiled seeing her sacrificing
another of her happiness without a twitch on her face and sighed thinking how
much more he will take from her. His hands now left hers and reached up to cup
"Geet! Didn't you think what made
me so late to come here?
She nodded in no as she didn't in
her worry realise that she was waiting almost 45 minutes in the room before he
"I went to see Maa and apologise, I
can never have a sleep if she's upset with me forget about starting a new
She smiled knowing the same.
"And you know she is right this
time, we need this to happen, not just because it is a formality being a part
of the society, not only because it is part of a marriage every girl's dream,
but I want to show to the world how lucky I am, how happy I am that you are
standing with me hard and strong in every phase of life, its ups and downs.
I know it wouldn't in anyway lessen
the pain that you have got from the so-called norms of the society, but I want
to show that a woman like my Geet is capable of only love even if all she got
from life is struggles and harshness.
It's time you stand with your head
held high not just because you are married again and have a man's name
following yours, but because you are free... free from the stamp of bad omen
that this society gave you, and which much to my disappointment you
You have to free yourself from that
He wiped the stream of tears that
gathered at the corner of her eyes whilst her lips stretched in a dreamy smile
listening to the thoughts of her life partner, she never ever before meeting
him had considered herself to be lucky, but now she believed that she was.
"Bolo karogi na... mere liye??
She could just move her head in a
slight nod as she was so much lost in his eyes, in his embrace. Rest of the
night was just a hazy memory as they had so much to share, and discover that
the night only seemed small.
As she sat in front of the mirror
next morning after taking her bath, she was furious. She took out her bottle of
foundation and took a large amount of liquid makeup and rubbed it on her
cheeks, her dimples to be precise. She was waiting for Maan to wake up so that
she could give him a good earful for biting her cheeks so hard that his teeth
marks remained there, though rest of the memories of the night only made her
blush deep red in colour. After another unsuccessful attempt to wake him up she
left the room the room sighing and went to kitchen.
The ritual of making sweet was just
as sweet until meera found her love bite even above the thick layer of makeup
she'd applied, and all Geet could do was just keep her eyes down and blush. She
wondered how much her life changed in just one day, she want able to look at
her own sister out of shyness and Meera was just enjoying her shernI sister all
turned into chuhiya today. The breakfast was equally fun as she saw smile
returning to eyes of the woman who was no less than a mother to her. She
couldn't ever bear sadness in her eyes; she bent to take her blessings and was
rewarded with a kada for her cooking. Now all eyes were on maan, as he was the
only one left to give Geet her gift, but kept eating not getting the cue.
"Where's your gift?
Dev asked him narrowing his eyes at
his younger brother being so obtuse, whilst earlier he was the one who gave him
tips whenever he had a fight with Meera and had to manaofy her with a gift.
"What gift? Am I supposed to give
He asked casually.
"Aaah... aa... Maa chhodo mera kaan
"What do you mean you are supposed
to give one? You should've given one in the night and other one now.
"What? Are you crazy? You are
asking a jobless man to give two gifts to his wife... Oh God! How will a
jobless man afford 2 gifts? Do you know it is equal to emotional abuse? I shall
complaint against you... aaah, aaa, Maaa...
Everyone laughed at their drama, it
seemed like happiness had finally returned to their house. And Maan did give
her not one or two but many gifts but none knew of it as it all happened inside
their closed room.
The heavy works of the sherwani he
wore was ok with him only if that cactus like cloth in the collar didn't
irritate him so much. Just about an hour more, he kept chanting to himself
every few minutes in order to bear the torture; the smile on the face of his Geet
did help him cope up with it. The throng of people coming to wish them didn't
bother him now; he had a smile on his face.
"Congratulations sir, ma'am.
Maan was quick to hug him, it was
because of this man he was alive today and he'd no qualms accepting that; he
was the only support he had in the days he'd distanced himself from his family.
He couldn't forget how Adi had taken care of him in those days just like an
elder brother would do.
"You should call me Maan now that I
am not your boss anymore. "
Though Maan said that jokingly, he
did mean it, but the look at adi's eyes said it all, he wouldn't accept it.
"I am glad you think of me as
family sir, but it wouldn't change the fact that you are my employer and will
always be, irrespective of you being my boss or the position I hold in the
Adi said with a smile. Yes, he was
now holding the post of CEO in the company, not because he'd saved the life of
the owner but because he was the best man for the job, and Maan was glad that Geet
was learning the affairs of the company very fast under his guidance.
So, tell me how it was...
PS: Another one on the way, since
it was so long I had to break it up!
