Love reading the detailed reviews here!

I watched the film last night and yet can't get it out of my head. Never thought the film could leave such an impact on me when the first reviews came out. You don't really understand what it does to you unless you watch it yourself.  I still find myself feeling dismal whenver I am thinking about the scene where Aryan sees Gaurav amidst the crowd after the climax. His expressions, his realization that what the love they have for him, can turn them into!!

I would not say I loved the film, but it would stay with me for quite a long time. It kinda messes with your mind.

Yeah the climax was brilliant..Its weird that ppl liked the first half more than the second cos like choco mentioned, i like the second half more too..Minus the chase sequences and lack of logic in certain scenes LOL  Aryan dealing with the cops, him being overtly nice to those guests at the shaadi- damn how did SRK manage to do that? Thats like a full fledged dig at his own self especially when you realize thats something he has been criticized for in real life as well- his arrogance and his habit of dancing at weddings..You need guts to show that man..Damn LOL

I loved the climax too. I have no idea why people are not liking it. May be the general movie-goers expected a happy ending? Or victory of Gaurav?
I don't know but I for one, can't think of a better climax TBH. It's hard hitting and consistent with the craziness Gaurav shows throughout the film.
Yes, that's very very brave of SRK. To make a mockery of his own stardom is not something everyone could do. Some scenes were outright outrageous and I can't think of any other superstar who would agree to do that!  Especially the scene where a prisoner is urinating just beside the superstar Aryan Khanna in London jail!  Shocked

You know what?...He was more likely to have sex w/ her husband...just kidding..
If you notice Fan also has a lotta scens with both Aryan & Gaurav's reflection in the mirror...I think Gaurav & Aryan might be more similar than it appears ...bot are driven by an overriding desire...both are Ziddis...Both value their desire over all their wordly relationships..& both are narcissists...
Only Gaurav's desire was to make Aryan aware of HIS presence & Aryan's was to be the best

lovely review choco. i said it all along, the very min i saw Gaurav, watchout for Khan in this one.
i even said i prefer this one over Raees.
now he scores in Raees, he is back in business..big time!

and when i say scores ...i mean in acting, not 300cr.

Oh but I actually love Aryan more than Gaurav...Gaurav is lovely yes, but it is a lot harder to play someone like Aryan -- someone who is you but is not..to show the man behind the facade stars have...and to play him like such an egoistic, sanki, insecure person...to embrace and showcase a star's biggest fears and lay them bare...to come to terms with the fact that you inspire such adulation and the responsibility it actually brings. SRK is fabulous as Gaurav but he has played versions of devoted and obsessive characters before.

LOL
totally agree with you. i just love Gaurav cos he was so damn adorable, and it just killed me to see him say byebye to all. it hit me hard, and he was all i thought of when movie ended. but as it all sank in, for some reason, it was Aryan who was overtaking Gaurav the next day...the  more i thought of aryan, the more i hate him. i hate  him, i hate him, ...i hate aryan...don't know why i hate him, maybe cos he has overtaken Gaurav's act.LOL now tell me how  convincing  shah was as Aryan. he was real mann..

I think people probably wanted to see Gaurav listen to Aryan and make something of his life in the climax..as that would have been a positive ending in an otherwise dark and eerie film. It would have worked...but it would also have been a cop-out. Gaurav was just too far gone over the edge to listen to reason...maybe just maybe if Aryan had actually said sorry...

Let me try to break the BO myth. I will not bash any other khan's film. I will take srk's example only. Dilwale collected 148 cr with a clash and fewer screens, that too when it was panned by critics. Fan may not cross 100 cr without clash, 3500 screens, critics loving the film. So what should one conclude. If BO was efficient ( like we assume stock markets are efficient), then one will conclude Dilwale is a better film? Or should one conclude that BO is inefficient? Take your pick. Unanimously anyone will say that FAN is 10000000000 times better than DW. Given this, its low BO collection shows that BO is not a measure of a film's quality. BO is still dominated by massy pockets in India. In those pockets,  these films are not even supposed to work. As i always say, the same company makes different kind of soaps for different markets. Some use lifebouy, some use lux, some dove. Doesnt mean either is good or bad.
The only fault i can find with YRF is that since they always knew this film is for city audiences, there was no need to give it such a wide release. Just like Neerja, restrict it to the audiences you have targeted. Then even at BO this film would have emerged a super hit. So its not the film but the release strategy thats responsible for its BO fate in my opinion.

And that bit where he disses the Indian ambassador and he remarks that whatever happens, these actors never stop throwing attitude or something along those lines LOL  So true..As a teen, when i used to be a crazy fan of certain celebs, i was actually scared of meeting them in person..Scared that it'l shatter the image and opinion i had of them LOL  And I din want that to happen..Most of us have had that phase where we really really look up to some celeb..Of course not half obsessed as Gaurav cos we had other things to do in life and our parents weren't that forgiving (thankfully LOL) but am sure all of us have had that crazy phase and even then, i never wanted to meet any of them..Whether its Sachin or Federer or whoever..I was happy with that 'perfect image' i had and din want that to be taken away from me..This film kinda proved i was right ROFL  Though Aryan wasn't exactly wrong and Gaurav was being a spycho..What i meant was most of these celebs are better off on TV or newspapers LOL

SRK should a movie with Vidya asap! Both are such brilliant actors, if given right scripts they will create magic with their chemistry. Whether in a mature love saga or a thriller I want to see them together!!
I would want to see them in a movie where both play serial killers but unknown to each other they both plot to kill each other. This can make a great script

Fan Has Good First Weekend
Monday 18 April 2016 11.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network

Fan had a good first weekend of 52 crore nett as all three days recorded good business. The weekend is by the far highest of this year beating the 42.50 crore nett of Airlift. In terms of all time openings the film stands in 17th place. The first weekend business of Fan is as follows

Friday - 18,75,00,000

Saturday - 15,50,00,000

Sunday - 17,75,00,000

Total - 52,00,00,000

The film has recorded good numbers in Mumbai, Delhi / UP, West Bengal and Mysore and even other circuits are fairly good but the issue will be that big drop in mass centres on Saturday. There were drops of 30-40% in some cities which makes the long term business depending on a handfull of cities.

The film was always going to be about where the Rajasthan's and Gujarat's go as you can't get a big number without the support of these mass centres and this crowd has not really taken to the film.
