Fan Has Good First Weekend
Monday 18 April 2016 11.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network

Fan had a good first weekend of 52 crore nett as all three days recorded good business. The weekend is by the far highest of this year beating the 42.50 crore nett of Airlift. In terms of all time openings the film stands in 17th place. The first weekend business of Fan is as follows

Friday - 18,75,00,000

Saturday - 15,50,00,000

Sunday - 17,75,00,000

Total - 52,00,00,000

The film has recorded good numbers in Mumbai, Delhi / UP, West Bengal and Mysore and even other circuits are fairly good but the issue will be that big drop in mass centres on Saturday. There were drops of 30-40% in some cities which makes the long term business depending on a handfull of cities.

The film was always going to be about where the Rajasthan's and Gujarat's go as you can't get a big number without the support of these mass centres and this crowd has not really taken to the film.

Honestly I loved film, liked a srk film after a long time
Suprised that WOM is not good maybe the second half wasn't liked by people as some of my friends told me after watching it. I personally had no issues with the 2nd half.

This movie was a slow descent into beautiful madness, it evoked so many emotions within me. Apart from the one or two shoddy fight sequences, I really enjoyed this film. Great work team Fan and Shah, it's good to have you back at what you do best - showing your versatility as an actor. Eagerly looking forward to Raees :)

Fan has considerable drops in the morning shows as compared to Sunday. The best hold has come in Delhi and Mysore. The overall India occupancy was 20%. These are samples only from multiplexes and the single screens may have witnessed more drops. The film has not witnessed healthy growth on Sunday so the drop is more than usual.

Now it has to start picking up in the noon shows. There is a lot of scope for the growth but the reports are not so positive. West Bengal was strong over the weekend but it cannot help as these circuits always find it tough to hold on weekdays. The best hold on weekdays always come from traditional Hindi markets in North India but here the film was not that strong especially in East Punjab. And in South the film was competing with Theri and The Jungle Book.

Monday is very crucial for Fan. Because if the film holds better, then it can take the advantage of next open week also. But so far it is not going well.
