There was a bond between R&B and shravu which thrived in the beginning on its own that has helped these two.
That bond now ...there are gaps ... Something's missing ... Nivi's there now too. With time relationships evolve , change for better or worse and kids grow up too fast even before you realise it.

Things have changed. It's never been the same since shravu stole that device. That was the start of the gaps in relations... Bala nor dude are the same. There's insecurity ... Financial and oppurtunistic in Bala and emotional in dude. Bala and dude are just not connected anymore.

It's easy to point Bala out for this ...possibly true but more than Bala it's II and her insecurities to keep issues separate between families.

The strain in adult relationships do get infiltrated even when it comes to kids ... And it's unfortunate.
The Bhalla adult siblings don't hv a relationship with harish's family ... And possibly the next gen too.
And neither is the relationship going to be great between ambala cousin's kids and bala's.

Time... . Time...the way it influences people and their lives... It's more profound even than God I feel or is Time the God, I wonder .

My personal feeling - Bala is right in disciplining his kid. Sooner the better. Akka should stop reaching out to II instead deal with it as a family with Bala. This is not a long time solution. She can probably inform II as a after fact for emotional support. II bringing Shravu will only teach him to runaway from the situation.

I also think so
As a middle class head of the family he is right on his side
Shravu has to live upto the expectations they hav from him and for that he has to be in through discipline
Coz II will not always be there for shravu and vandu

I am in Bala bashing mode...i am sorry if folks find it offends them.
Suria Bala is the expert in running away from issues and does not mind lying his way through. He cannot take a stance with his parents, sibling or cousins yet all kis nakras of a Maapillai surfaces with the iyers.
He should have curbed II at the outset but his ego takes a battering when she marries a guy who gives his wife the space she needs.
He borrows stuff from II but will cheekily return the money and keys to her husband putting her in a great difficulty.
He wants a full term Vandhu to accompany him to Ambala so that he can return in time.
A note of such nature is common these days its a matter of how one deals with it. Amma's disciplining Akka resents. II's pampering Bala resents. A shrewd watcher of folks Shravvu turns manipulative as we saw in a Foocher Update where Ranjan makes a fervent plea about god... The iyers thinking raising the hand will discipline kids. Bhallas dont yet R&B is firm in dealing with matters and correcting wrong acts. What the boy needs is realisation of limits. What he is experiencing is reward and punishment both are not corrective measures in this case.
Akka has not yet got into the habit of plain speak with her husband parents or child. Imagine running to your younger sister with all your woes especially when you know fully well she'd drop everything to scurry to your aid.

Kids... They observe a lot... And if the adults give them the space they will manipulate.
The things for which they manipulate will vary ... The way I look at it.
Shravu does now and he did in the future update.

But I cannot look away the fact that Nivi does it too.
Much more subtle. She gets away with her tennis or her other Granth or singing lessons at that age when she wants to by pitching it to her Dad and he lets her get away with it. It's not extreme as shravu does... His matters are more complex but then the situation of the kids are also not the same .
But manipulation kids do... When they see they can get away.
Even the pool party update ... She pitched it to dude . Not denying that II could be extreme but
Dude's bond with Nivi is keeping II out and that Nivi manipulates for her small things.
I could take this perspective that it's manipulation and few others could view it as the comfort of the special bond she shares with her dad in discussing stuff... But if I look at it from an angle of discipline then that's also manipulation.

Kalpana kids will definitely manipulate as they watch and learn from us all the time. Some use the pester power for the right causes some with a game plan like adults...it is the way we socialise them into adult roles.
The Bhallas have very different disciplining modes from the iyers.
Passing the buck and blaming others for everything that goes wrong is done only by one faction. A child who sees and will continue to see the differences in his home and those of his cousins, needs to be handled with greater maturity, patience and consistency which seems missing in the case of Shravvu. He will not turn out another Mukund...yet there will be sporadic incidents like this...the next will definitely have to do with po*n...

Watching kids from very close quarters for decades...i see the pattern in Bala's attitude that is so damaging to kids and many times one can only watch on helplessly or contribute in giving the child an alternate perspective.
