Just like teens?
In the evening she headed to Rohini after checking on R&B and Nivi
There was stress all around, at Rohini, at Akka's at Malcha Marg and at her work
Akka hadnt called her all day
She had texted Shravu when he would have gotten out of school
He hadnt responded
She reached Rohini at 5
She hadnt heard about the job she had applied to
When she went upstairs, Appa sat in the balcony looking down at kids playing on the street, chasing each other around parked cars
He turned to her and his eyes lit up
The apartment was gorgeous
New, and sparkly, but Amma and Appa's face had no lustre to it
Amma sat on the couch working on her computer
She heard sounds in the kitchen
"Vandu is making pao bhaji" amma smiled
II's heart skipped a beat
She didnt go into the kitchen, she just sat by Amma
"Vandooo, coffee podu ma" Amma hollered
'Yaar vandrikka?" Akka hollered over the kitchen exhaust
"Vera yaar inda vaal daan" (the naughty kid)
Akka came out, and her face paled
II and her stared at each other
"What are you making ka?" II asked kissing up
Akka said "Pao bhaji" and went into the kitchen
Shubhang screamed waking up, he was in II's room
II ran in and grabbed him
He looked grumpy and unhappy
He screamed more when she picked him up
Akka grabbed him
"Go make ur coffee dee, give him to me" she urged grabbing Shubhang
"How is Shravu?" Ii whispered
"PLEASEEE" Akka hissed
"Appaku teriyadu dee" Amma came in and informed II about Appa not knowing
"Amma athim will be very hard on him" II moaned
"What do u wnat him to do? Just let him go? And encourage him?" Akka shouted
Amma was shocked
Akka shut the door and challenged II
I am not saying that ka" II mumbled
"Its something or the other with him... Bala is doing his best to provide for him... we have this kazhudai (donkey) now" Akka cursed
"Akka what did he ever do?" II asked
"There are different dtsnadards in my family dee" Akka said smugly
"I agree... but he didnt sleep until later last night" II whispered
Amma was gone so she couldnt hear
"U need not have taken him if he disrupted ur sleep" Akka offered
"Ayyo naan adukku sollale" (I didnt mean it that way) II argued
"U guys are newly married, you have a different routine" Akka reminded II of her morning rendezvous
II squirmed
"thanks for watching him one night" Akka said opening the door
"Akka send him over during Spring Break no?" II begged
"Akka need to confide" II mumbled
"He has confided in that girl" Akka scoffed
"Paavam ka, its an impulsive act" II wept
"SO? We shud approve of it?" Akka demanded
"No ka..." II begged
"Ishita its a different set up in Munirka, you will never understand" she dismissed
"I DO I DO KA" II offered
"U married differently, ur family is different... Manya lives with a man every few years" Akka said
"Thats not necessarily approved by Dad ka" Ii said
"But she does any way doesnt she? My in laws wont allow any such thing, neither Bala... it gets cut off..." Akka warned
'Manya is in her 30s... she doesnt listen to any body, she is insecure ka... shravu is 12 and it may have been a prank" II explained
"Onn kitta PRANK sonnana?" (did he tell u?) Akka asked shocked
"No he didnt... he didnt... but dont judge him ka" II begged
"Nee kudukara edam daan" (u pamper him) Akka said
Appa came in
"Coffee kudicheya kanna?" (did u drink coffee?)
"Umm... pa... i mean not yet pa" II began to lie and when she saw Amma approaching with coffee she stopped lying
"They are like in their teens" Appa said proudly "Fighting aruguing" he smiled at Amma
Amma didnt think so
Shubhang snoozed on Akka's shoulder
"Pao bhaji panra vandu saaptutu kelambu" (eat and go) Appa said
"I was hopingt o stay the night" II winked
"Kutti varalaye" ( the baby is not here no?) Appa smiled
"She is busy walking everywhere' II cooed
"SO CUTE... she is a doll kannappa" (dear) Appa said
"Amma I have to go I will make and leave" Akka left teh bedroom
"Akka I can drop you" II said
"No you eat and go I am just making... I will eat in Munirka' Akka said trying her best not to let her coldness show
