Hello and Happy Navratri and Gudi padwa to every Ashnian... ! 🥳

Wishing every one a very happy new year according to the Hindu mythology... ! 🥳

The auspicious festival of Chaitra Navratri has begun and so it have the preparations to seek the blessings of Goddess Shakti.

Most of the customs and rituals observed during Shardiya Navratri are also observed duringChaitra Navratri. Ghatasthapana Muhurta and Sandhi Puja Muhurta are more popular during Shardiya Navratri but these Muhurtas are also needed during Chaitra Navratri.

Ghatasthapana is one of the significant rituals during Navratri. It marks the beginning of nine days festivity. Our scriptures have well defined rules and guidelines to perform Ghatasthapana during a certain period of time at the beginning of Navratri. Ghatasthapana is invocation of Goddess Shaktiand doing it wrong time, as our scriptures forewarn, might bring wrath of the Goddess Shakti. Ghatasthapana is prohibited during Amavasya and night time.

The most auspicious or Shubh time to do Ghatasthapana is first one third of the day while Pratipada is prevailing. If due to some reasons this time is not available then Ghatasthapana can be done during Abhijit Muhurta. It is advised to avoid Nakshatra Chitra and Vaidhriti Yoga during Ghatasthapana but those are not prohibited. The most important factor to consider is that Ghatasthapana is done before Hindu midday while Pratipada is prevailing.

On the auspicious occasion during Chaitra Navratri, nine forms of Goddess Maa Durga - Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skanda Mata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Maha Gauri and Siddhidatri are worshipped by the devotees. Chaitra Navratri festival will start from Friday, 8th April 2016 and will be celebrated till 16th April 2016

The devotees worship these nine incarnations of goddess Durga till nine days to get blessing of Maa Durga. It is believed that People who worship Maa Bhagwati, do fasting and chanting mantras during Navratri will be blessed with prosperity, health and wisdom in their life. Jaagran has also been made by the devotees during navratri nights.

Navratri celebration and worshipping style is different in every state of India but the devotion is same for Navratri festival. It is celebrated widely in every part of India with great enthusiasm with a different name of Goddess, like in Gujarat devotees worship as Goddess Jagdamba while in West Bengal it is named as Durga Puja. In Kolkata people erected huge Pandals at various places for Durga Puja and set up great idols of Mata Durga for worship. In Gujarat, Dandiya and Garba are the two popular dance forms which are performed by the people during Navratri festival.

According to Hindu lunar calendar, Chaitra is the first month and the first day of this month is celebrated as the Hindu New Year. Chaitra Navratri is the end of the winter season and begining of the summer in India. Chaitra Navaratri is also known as Vasant Navratri, celebrated more popularly with great pomp and devotion in the northern part of India.

This year, Chaitra Navratri 2016 date is on April 8. Celebrate chaitra navratri 2016 with your family, do fasting till nine days, sing hymns and do Kanjak puja to get the good health, wisdom and blessing of Maa Durga. .

First Navratri : Maa Shailputri is worshiped!

Worship Maa Shailputri on the first day of Navaratri

Maa Shailputri, GaneshaSpeaks.com

One of all nine forms of Devi Durga is worshipped every day in Navaratri. The first form of Maa Durga is Shailputri, who was born to the King of Mountains. "Shail" means mountain and "putri" means daughter. Hence, she is called Shailputri - the daughter of mountain. Maa Shailputri, an absolute form of Mother Nature, is worshipped on the first day of Navratri. She is also referred to as Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva and mother of Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya. The image of Maa Shailputri is a divine lady, holding a trishul in her right hand and lotus flower in her left hand. She rides on Nandi, a bull.

Maa Shailputri is the goddess of the muladhara chakra or root chakra, and upon awakening this Shakti one begins their journey to spiritual awakening and to their purpose in life. Without energising the muladhara chakra one doesn't have the power and strength to do anything worthwhile. It is said that one should worship Maa Shailputri to make full use of the precious human life. Therefore, this Avtar of Goddess Durga is worshipped on the first day of Navratri.

Navratri is a special occasion. A time for new beginnings and offering your dedication and reverence to the Goddess Shakti.
