Part 3
Adarsh was for a sweet surprise as he saw the dishes on the
table. Prawn linguine and a Caesar salad and Lychee spritzer, all his
favourite. He had taken Swadeenta to her
favourite Italian restaurant, but she surprised him by ordering all his
favourite dishes. Did she knew these were my favourite.. Or is it her
favourite as well?' Adarsh didn't know. It was a year of their marriage but he
still did not know what was his wife's favourite food or any of her likes for
that matter.
mm.. didi told me..' she said softly without taking eyes
from the plate in front of her. She had seen the questioning look on his face. Ah..
Okay..Thank you..' He muttered while he served the prawn linguine to her. There was an awkward silence between them
both. Both didn't know what to talk.
Swadeenta looked at Adarsh as he ate his dinner. He was
handsome and a guy every girl dreamed for a husband. His light brown eyes and
dimples had every girl falling for him. She had herself witnessed girls
drooling over him and commenting about him in her presence not knowing she was
his wife. He had a dynamic personality and said to be the most promising IAS
officer. Anywhere they went she heard only people praising Adarsh for all his
good work. She knew her parents had married her to the most eligible bachelor
available and they wished the best for their only daughter, just that they didn't
know if she really wanted the best and if she really deserved such a nice guy.
Adarsh saw that all the guys walking past their table could
not take their eyes off Swadeenta. He couldn't blame them for that. Even in a
plain cotton kurta she looked breathtakingly beautiful. She was the rare
combination of beauty with brains'. He knew his wife would be one of the most
sought after neurosurgeons in no time. But more than all this, it was her
simplicity and her calm nature that made her the best. But did he deserve such
a good life partner? Adarsh did not know!
Swadeenta.. This
just made the dinner complete and perfect. Thanks a lot' Adarsh took the first
bite of his Tiramisu. Adarsh was touched by all her efforts to make his birthday
dinner such a memorable one. It was one of the best evenings they spend in the
last one year after their marriage. Adarsh had spoke to her about his Italy
trip that he made with his friends, their experiences and adventures. Swadeenta
also for a change was an active participant and it looked like that was an end
to atleast the silence in life.
As they finished the dinner and was waiting for the cheque,
both of them felt that there was a lightness in their life now. Swadeenta.. I
know we were .. mm.. last one year.. I think today we spoke more than what we
spoke the whole year.. I dunno why we were not talking atleast.. but I feel..
atleast we can be friends now..' Adarsh extended his hand towards her.. what
do you say?..' Swadeenta looked at the hands extended to her. So much was
happening in a short time. But she knew Adarsh was extending his friendship putting
an end to their strange relation and she should not reject it.. She slowly
shook her hands with him and smiled.
Adarsh.. Is that you dude?..' Swadeenta heard a very
familiar voice call out to Adarsh at the entrance of the hotel as they waited
for their car. She was on call with her mother and was a little far from where
Adarsh stood. She could not see the face from behind but that voice reminded
her of someone close. Heyy.. what a pleasant Surprise..?' Adarsh was now
hugging that person and was talking to him. Swadeenta finished her call with
Mom and then walked towards were Adarsh was talking to his friend.
There comes my wife..' She heard Adarsh introducing her to
his friend. The man in black shirt and cream pants slowly turned to face her. Swadeenta..
Meet my friend .. Abhay..!' As Swadeenta looked at the guy she turned pale. Swadeenta..'
Abhay looked at her shockingly!!
