AThe actor has entrusted Zakir Hussain's composer nephew with the music of his upcoming July release, a crime-drama.
Work on Rahul Dholakia's Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khanstarrer
crime-drama, Raees, currently in its last schedule in Mumbai, is drawing
to a close. However, when the unit met with SRK to discuss its music
recently, there was something missing.
"The cast and crew were
shown portions of the film and they unanimously agreed that the music
needed further work," revealed a source close to the development.
Raees is set in 1980s Gujarat and tells the story of a bootlegger by
the name of Raees Khan (SRK) whose business is challenged and eventually
thwarted by a rugged cop, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Now,
Mirror has learnt that the King Khan has given newbie composer-singer
duo, Faizan Hussain and Agnel Roman, a month's time to come up with an
out-of-thebox score and an album of five songs for the July release.
Incidentally, Faizan is Zakir Hussain's nephew and was recommended by
the tabla maestro himself. The duo has worked on a music video, titled
"Jigariya", and are currently scoring the music for Sameer Chopra's The
End.
"SRK invited Faizan and Agnel to play one of their
compositions. A week later, they were asked to present an original
track. He and producer Ritesh Sidhwani loved their work and signed them
on. They will be collaborating with composer Ram Sampath. A whacky
number with twisted lyrics is also in the works," the source informed.
