Despite the first part Detective Byomkesh Bakshy biting dust, Dibakar Banerjee is setting the stage for a sequel.

No, we are not kidding.

We caught up with him today at the launch of Mumbai Film Festival, where he confirmed that he was working on the second part--- but is likely to make a 'smaller film' before Detective Byomkesh Bakshy 2.0 rolls.

"It is definitely happening as that is a subject I am not going to leave. It is in the initial stages at this point, but the franchisee deserves another attempt," he said. It would be interesting to see if Sushant Singh Rajput finds a place in Dibakar's second attempt, as his character was found not endearing enough in the first. Time will tell. Asked if he'd make this one more accessible as the first one was panned for being 'over-intellectual,' Dibakar shot back, "Accessible to who?" Phew!
