If "Blue Jasmine" were to be remade in Bollywood...

I am sure many people have seen Blue Jasmine here. I loved it very much and watched it a few times. This Woody Allen movie, starring Cate Blanchett in her second Oscar winning role, has a lot of potential to be adapted to an Indian setting.

Jasmine (Cate's role - 40+)

Ginger (Sally's role - 30+)

For Jasmine's role: Sridevi, Tabu, Urmila, Kajol are viable options. Each of them can look regal while enacting the psychological complexities well.  Ideally, Ash would be perfect - look filthy rich, have the sophistication and sensibilities but she will fail to bring the psychological complexities.

For Ginger's role:  Kareena, Vidya, Rani, PC.  Although these are all competent actresses, I am bucketing them in this category to maintain the age difference with the choices above.

Cate Blanchett was simply brilliant. Much deserved Oscars.

Kajol  has the chops to do it. It is a complex role and she can pull it off easily. 

I feel the same about Sri too, she can look glamorous and handle the range of emotions well.

And Ginger...probably PC

Only if ARB was a fine actor,  Jasmine's role was tailor made for her.
