Episode 13 written update😉

Ashish:(He says a Phrase from Sanskirit)
It means in a place women is respected god resides there
But among us how many of as actually accept and follow this
Woman face lot of hurdles in our society
That too if she is from a suppressed community it becomes even harder
Today story is a about a Dalit(Scheduled caste) women who became
CEO of a multi-million dollar company
It seems like a fairy tale listening right.
Lets meet the women herself,Kalpana Saroj Ji

She hails from a small village
and from Dalit community

Kalpana is returning from her school
Three boys from upper caste teasing her
and she runs away
They are angry

Her parents are worried

and they can't go aginst

upper caste people

Now someone is advising Kalpana's father to get her married

He knows a family in Mumbai where she can

get married and those people will take care of marriage expense too

Kalpana refuses as she wants to study

But they go ahead

As getting a marriage proposal from Mumbai is

considered great

(This happened 12th may 1973)

Mumbai family comes to see her

and the guy seems too old for her

She gets married and reaches Mumbai on 16th oct 1973

She is exited seeing Mumbai

But once she reachs her residence area

She finds it strange

Now neighbors are staring at her

as she is very young

five to six members lived in a small house

He Mother in law(MIL) collects all jewelry from her

in the name of safety

and asking her to clean the house

She is mistreated by everyone there

Beaten and scolded too(And she is just 12)

She had to do all house work

Cooking,washing everthing

and she get beaten even for small mistake in work

she just stayed in the house

Never gone outside

Not allowed to talk to neighbors

She was just like a prisoner

No contacts with her parents too

After sis months when her father comes to visit her

He is shocked by his daughter appearance

He gets furious and want to take her back some

BUt they are stopping him

But he threatens a police complaint

and leaves with his daughter

Now she is back home

Her father consoles her

and he wants her to continue her studies

But village people didn't like her returning

IN the school other students behaved strangely with her

Talked bad about her behind the back

They blamed her

and it was really tough for her

She discontinues her studies

and starts learning tailoring to help her father

Now she is grown

But still village people behaved the same with her

(she is crying while saying this)

Once her sister is sick

Her father gets her medicine As doctor refuses to come

So her mother is blaming this is bcos of Kalpana

that village people avoid them

Father asking "how can I leave my daughter to die there"

Sister saying"Its better she dies rather than torturing us"

and Kalpana is overhearing it and is broken

She goes to (her relative women) I guess

She request to stay with her

She is kind and says ok

But when she goes to prepare tea for her

See consumes poison

and the when is shocked to see her lying in the floor

Then she was taken to hospital

Doctor's said id she doesn't gain consciousness within 48 hours

She can't be saved

But fortunately she gained consciousness

Now the some were saying

If she had died

They would sure blame her father saying

She did something wrong so she killed herself

Now she decided that she will

never think about dieing and will

strive hard to live

Now she wants to leave Mumbai to work in Mills

She leaves with her uncle

Now a neighbor gets her a job in nearby clothing place

But once she sat to stitch in Tailoring machine

Due to nervousness

She couldn't stitch

and the supervisor got angry

and gave helpers work

(like cutting cloths etc)

They got 2 rupees a day(if I am not wrong)

When everyone leaves for tea

She used to sneak in and try to run the machine

She was baffled as to why she is not able to do it

In two three days she overcame her fear

and she was able to run the machine

Then she told them to alot her a machine

When she started stitching her work was so good

she earned 215 in the first month

This was the first time in her life

she saw a hundred rupees note

Few years went by like this

One day she got can from her father

Her sister was very sick and they wanted her to be treated in Mumbai

So she rents a house and brings her family to Mumbai

(She has some four to 5 siblings)

But 50,000 needed to remove tumor(cancer)

she is trying for loan

but in a vein

and her sister dies

(she cries to save her before dying

and apologize for talking bad about her)

Now she realizes the importance of money

as she doesn't want to loose any other member from her family

She heard a ad in radio

about a Govt scheme which provides loan for business

So she decided to go for it

finally she got loan after 2 years

She started a furniture store

She earned well

and slowly she became a builder

She started a organization for helping struggling ones

Kamani Tubes(Multicrore company)

The company was running well

But problem btw sons

So company closed

court was searching for new promoter

to run the company

But no one was ready to come forward bcos

the company had 216 crore loan

More than 200 litigation pending and 2 unions

But Kalpanji came forward

Board said u can take over

But have to satrt working immediately

and she became the president

2000-2006 she worked continuously

From her experience and knowledge within the company

She found than the principal amount,interest and penalty

is burdening the company

So she went and met the finance minister

She requested them to cancel interest and penalty

and they accepted

And on their own they reduced 25% of principal

amount too as they found her intention good

March 2006 court made her the owner of the company

It gave her time till 2011

That by end of 2011

she has to leave sica company(I didn't get this part)

and she left sica by 2011 with profit

2013 she was awarded Padma Sri by Indian Govt

She talked with a caller

and she said the below Poem

Itna aseem ban ja ki manzil tujhe pukare

Become so big that the destination calls out for you

The destination will bow down to your feet if you keep going

relentless without losing faith

Ashish ended with a poem

Jab Udaa Hu bharosa

apne pankhon pe liye

toh aasman bhi chota hai

meri Udaan ke liye

Now when the I have flown

keeping the faith on my wings,

the sky shall fall

short for my flight
