Plans are underway to
shoot the Sony crime weekly CID in Pakistan. And if things go
right, it will be a first for the small screen.
When
asked about the move, the reticient producer-director B P
Singh admits, "Yes, we are working towards the goal.
We have already done the initial rounds of meetings at this
end; now the Pakistani authorities need to provide the green
signal."
CID, which has been on air for seven years,
has ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam) lead a task force that
cracks the toughest of cases every week.
Singh, whose
name is synonymous with crime and horror shows on the tube,
informs that Shashi Ranjan is co-ordinating from this end. "We
have already been to New Delhi and met the concerned
officials. There is an okay from this end; we are awaiting a
favourable response from the Pakistani
authorities."
"We are looking at a mixed cast from
India and Pakistan. The ancient backdrop of cities like Lahore
looks inviting enough," he adds.
Incidentally, as part
of the seventh anniversary celebrations of CID, earlier this
year, Singh had shot a special series on location in Meheran
fort in Rajasthan which was aired in April.
Last year,
he had made it to the record books by shooting a single shot
112 minutes episode of CID in Lonavala.
Indian Idol
Abhijeet Sawant makes his acting debut in the show in the June
17 episode.
