Chapter 8
Chautala's comes back to the hotel, changes and rests for sometime. In the evening, they check out of the hotel and leaves to railway station as they were going back to Delhi.
Other side, coming back to her room Dolly felt relieved and quickly changes into a comfortable suit. Then she comes to the dressing for combing her hair, while combing she notices the small diamond ring adorning her ring finger. Thats when she realises that she is engaged now and is going to be married soon to a total stranger about whom she doesn't know anything.
Thinking about it she gets more scared as to how her life will be after marriage. How her would-be mother-in-law will treat her? Will she be a good or will she be very strict just like most of the mil's she has seen till now? Will she be able to adjust in the new atmosphere? Most important of all how her would-be husband will treat her who is going to be her jeevansaathi for life long?
So many questions were running in her mind but none was answered except the one about her jeevansaathi. His little act in their engagement did prove that he was a good man at heart and acknowledges others wishes too. But is that small gesture enough for believing a complete stranger as first time everyone tries to make a good impression? The answer is a big NO..but somewhere in her heart she is getting a strong feeling that he is same just like what he showed and not faking anything.
Thinking about the engagement, a small shy smile crept upon her lips first time after a week as from when she learnt that soon she was going to get married she was very gloomy even in the company of Lolly as she was also upset with her on knowing about it.
Don't know till how long she was standing there lost in her thoughts till she heard Nani shouting out to her. Hearing the sudden shout she jumps at her place and composing herself quickly rushes out.
Nani- Aa gai maharani ji? Sagai ho gai iska matlab ye nahi hai ki ab hum tumhari rajkumari ki tarah seva karenge shaadi tak..jao aur jakar raat ke khane ki tayari karo.
Dolly meekly nodes her head and makes her way to the kitchen having tears at the corner of her eyes. The smile of her lips had long gone with that the hope of having a better life. But then she shrugs these thoughts for the moment and wiping her tears starts preparing for the dinner.
After serving and having her dinner, she goes back to her room, writes her diary and sleeps.
Next Day, Delhi
Ketaki was in her class having her lunch with her friends and also telling them about her brother's engagement. How much she enjoyed and how beautiful her bhabhi is.
Sami- Wow yr congratulations..par ye kya akele-akele hi bhai ki engagement enjoy karli tune..one of her friend says.
Seema- Haan-haan..dhum ketu bahot galat baat hai ye..hume bhul gai tu..her another friend says.
Ketaki- Ohh sorry yaaro naraz mat ho..actually engagement Mathura mei hui na isliye..par maine pics click ki hai na bahot saari, jaise hi album aati hai mai tumhe dikhaungi..ok
Seema- Haan ok.
Sami- Kya ok? Mujhe kuch nahi pata..mujhe toh treat chahiye.
Seema- Ye lo ho gai shuru..and laughs along with Ketaki.
Ketaki- Thik hai madam..aapko treat bhi mil jayegi.
Yanu- Congrats Ketu..says her another friend who joins them a little late..atlast tujhe bhabhi mil hi gai, par ab tere bhai ka time split ho jayega..ab toh wo zyada dhyaan bhabhi par denge.
Listening this everyone gets agreed with her but Ketaki shrugs the thought.
Ketaki- O madam, mere bhai aise nahi hai samjhi..unhe apni responsibilities achhe se pata hain.
Yanu- Toh maine kab kaha ki tere bhai ko unki responsibility nahi pata..main toh bas yeh keh rahi hoon ki shaadi ke baad sab badal jaate hain aur tere bhai koi saint toh hai nahi.
Fari- Oye..chup kar tu..har baat mei negative hi bolti hai..kabhi toh kuch positive soch ya bol liya kar..another friend says who was till now listening to them all.
Yanu- Mai toh sirf..
All four together- Bas maata..aaj ka gyaan pura hua..ab lunch karlo..joining their hands in front of her and then all laugh out loud together.
After that they have their lunch chatting on other things. Though Ketaki showed that she was ok but a little doubt has erupted in her mind.
Chautala House
All were having their dinner when Chachi speaks.
Chachi- Chintu beta kal hum shaadi ke liye dresses aur jewellery ki shopping karne jayenge toh tum bhi chalna saath.
Chintu- Mai kya karunga wahan Chachi?
Chachi- Dress select karne mei humari help karoge aur kya?
Chintu- Chachi ye ladies department aap hi sambhalo..mujhse ye shopping vagerah nahi hoti..though he showed his reluctance but he was happy inwardly.😆
Chachi- Haan-haan pata hai mujhe ki tumhe hum ladies ke saath shopping karna pasand nahi hai..par tumhari selection hum sab se achi hai isliye hum tumhe keh rahe hain taaki shaadi mei koi taunt nahi maare ki humne itni bekar selection ki hai apni bahu ke liye.
Ketaki giggles at her explaination holding her mouth with her hands.
Chacha- Thik hi toh keh rahi hai..tum kal chale jaana Chintu.
Chintu- Thik hai.
After having the dinner, all retires to their respective rooms.
Next day, Chachi, Ketaki and Chintu goes for the shopping.
First they go to CC, where there are shops which sells beautiful lehengas having hand-made work in them and is available at a reasonable rates as compared to the mall rates and also you can made them as per your choice too.
Sales Men- Welcome mam, what would you like to see Saree or Lehenga?
Chachi- Saree
Chintu- Nahi..i mean Chachi i think lehenga thik rahega.
Chachi and Ketaki chuckles a bit and nodes their head.
Sales men shows them the latest collection of bridal lehenga's and they chooses the red color lehenga embroidered all over with golden zari work.
Finally, selecting the lehenga and telling them about the changes to be done in that they comes out of the shop. On seeing the time, they had their lunch in the nearby food stall and then continue the shopping.
Then they go to K**** N**** for purchasing some more sarees and suits for the after marriage rituals.
After purchasing for the Bride they then purchased for Ketaki and Chachi.
After ladies shopping, they go to R****** G***** and select sherwani's for Chintu and Chacha ji.
The whole day went in purchasing the dresses only so they come home and having the dinner lay flat on their beds feeling very tired.
Next day, they go to S**** E* to buy the jewellery, mangalsutra, toe rings etc. for the bride and lastly they go S*****P** for buying the matching glass bangles for the them and come back home.
