There's no set length or number of parts for an SS...
If you don't find yourself finishing it anytime soon and would like to keep writing after this particular track or say 10 chapters maybe, you could change it into an FF. Though, IMO, since you began with a particular event and no introduction (not necessarily though) that usually starts an independent FF, you could keep this an SS
