PK has hit the roof. If the weekend saw wonderful momentum building for the film, weekdays showed the level of acceptance that the Aamir Khan starrer had fetched. The film continued to score heavily and with Christmas holiday on Thursday, the Rajkumar Hirani affair saw an escalation all over again. As a result, the film managed to gather astonishing footfalls with collections over 185 crores (nett) in its 1st Week itself.

The success has turned out to be even better for all involved, and there are reasons aplenty. First and foremost, Aamir has managed to break his own record of Dhoom 3 that was created last year for the highest collections ever gained in the first week run.

Secondly, Rajkumar Hirani has almost managed to collect the entire lifetime collections of 3 Idiots (202 crore). Thirdly, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra's confidence in the product and the promises that he made to the distributors have proven true as well. Last but not the least, Anushka Sharma is back in business with a biggie, and how.

With the kind of response that PK is gaining, it is now a given that this social-satirical affair would result as the biggest success of 2014, hence surpassing Salman Khan's Kick [233 crore] and Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year [203 crore]. Meanwhile, it would also go past the Chennai Express [227 crore].

The next big target though is Dhoom 3 which had managed 284 crore. There are many more overs (read open days) ahead to score these runs (collections) and it is now a matter of whether the film manages to seize this opportunity and play consistently or run out of breath after some initial quick hitting!

PK 7th day Thursday Box Office collection is 28 cr taking the 7 days total collections and 1st week business to 183 cr creating an all time record for Bollywood films. The numbers might go higher too. PK had its third best day after Sunday and Saturday on Thursday

The film grew by leaps and bounds today as the morning show grew by 35-40 % compared to yesterday but post noon, the occupancy in evening, night an late shows is earth shattering. The film grew by around 45 - 50 % compared to Wednesday.

Purely on the basis of collections from Hindi versions only, PK will be the highest first week grosser of All Time as Dhoom 3 (Hindi only) collected around 178 cr in the first week. Can the movie create some unbelievable records in the second week is the talk of town. PK will beat 3 Idiots and Chennai Express and enter the 200 cr club by 2nd Saturday in the worst case scenario.
