This is what I read in books including humayun nama
Hindal mirza is the one who saved Akbar from Kabul fort when he was put up on stake
Hindal mirza risked his life and went into fort and smuggled akbar, adham and maham out of the fort else Akbar would have been killed by Kamran and humayun could never win war.
If Akbar was alive and humayun won the war against Kamran it was because of hindal. hindal was an exceptional soldier and commander and was killed by Kamran while fighting for humayun. Humayun won the war against Kamran because of excellent commanding by hindal mirza.
Hindal before death wrote will to give all his property to Akbar only who was very small then. Since Ruqaiah was only daughter of hindal, humayun out of guilt that she became orphan married her to Akbar. The second reason was hindal's ruled provinces would go to Akbar if he married ruqaiah.
Hindal was the most beloved son of babur hence babur gave him more wealth than any other son.
So hindal was not a bad greedy man he was a very good brother who was initially misguided as a child by his brothers but later on always supported his elder brother. If hindal was not there humayun could never become emperor or win war again as he was not a good commander and strategist. He did not think ruqaiah will become orphan and risked his life for Akbar and fought for humayun battles. Also he only wrote all his property in will to Akbar not ruqaiah because he knew Akbar has nothing with him so he have some nice life he wrote so in will. Hindal would not know Akbar will become rich and emperor again at that time. He consider Akbar as his own son.
Hindal was engaged to marry hamida banu and humayun told his desire to marry her. hindal loved hamida very much and hamida loved hindal very much but left them and went off. If he want humayun was not emperor then he could have married hamida and refused his brother.
Hindal was also the on who saved many of humayun's wives and kids when sher shah suri forces attacked his camp in WB.
So hindal is not a bad man at all. He helped humayun many times but the fact that humayun knew hindal love hamida very much yet wanted to marry her broke his heart and he left humayun.
Regarding ruqaiah we cannot exactly say how she was either she was very good that Akbar, jehangir and shah jahan loved and respect her so much or she was good at hiding her true emotions. Ruqaiah not owning ships and a army cavalry does not mean Akbar did not love her more than muz etc. indeed Akbar, jehangir, shah jahan listened to her only more than any other woman in Mughal empire. May be Ruqaiah was not business minded or a warrior to make her handle all that while muz was all that. Salima also did not handle business or cavalary but she handled the court in Akbar absence. But Akbar listened to ruqaiah like making jehangir emperor instead of khusrayu, jehangir forgave Aziz koka, they went with her to visit her father's grave few times. Ruqaiah could not handle outside business or did not want to may be hence she only handled harem and other court issues. But all three emperors she was major adviser in court. Even jehangir did not remove her Empress(Malika e Aliya) position till death even under nur jahan influence she is so much powerful. If someone could give competition to nur jahan in terms of power it was only her.
