1.Its a wrong notion that only a product which does not have quality needs marketing. All product need to be marketed well and in fact the product that is more successful so also the proportionate of marketing promotion expenses will be more. In case of Ajay movie itself u can see the promotion expenses on singham is more compare to his other movies.
2. In show business fan following is different so also It totally different say compare to other movie industry and Bollywood. In Bollywood it is not only based on acting, if acting and quality is main criteria then Irfan khan would have the largest fan following .
Fan following can be bcoz of many reason for USP , look , appeal etc. of a star. How a star appeal to different groups etc.
3. Ajay devgan is always in the categories of average only. He excel in any movie with great performance or having ingredient that appeal to a large chunk of people like these masala movies than only those movies get success just like singham .
Another thing is just like singham 2 carry the good will and brand of singham same wise those stars get a loyal follower from their all past movies. A SRK,SK,AK etc. created a loyal follower or say fan following though their performance since last 20 years .
4. IF is a complete different viewer group consist of movie follower from different countries. People who are fan of any star they create topic, discuss , fight etc. on the basis of favorites. Singham 2 got success bcoz of it carry the successful ingredients of previous movie, performance and brand of the previous successful movie. It is less to do with star power of devgan.

All in all fans are free marketer for stars and most vocal for his star . One can dedicate a lot of energy to promote -droll on his star whom one like. Fans are more vocal in online platform just like if a fan of say salman srk etc. then one can create 100 topics in favour so also in defense .
