One of the best places to experience the festival of Janmashtami is Mumbai. While people merry and celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, by observing a fast, groups gather with much revere to celebrate Dahi Handi.
Dahi Handi over the years has got commercialized a lot. Many people get injured every year and the country experiences some deaths too. To prevent the occurrences, the Bombay High Court this year passed an order that the minimum age for participation in Dahi Handi celebrations is 18 years and the height of human pyramid should not cross 20 feet.
Now, let's hear what our Telly stars have to say about the regulation imposed.
I think the latest regulations which have been imposed are very important and the government has come up with a very wise decision. The number of thefts recorded during the festive season every year is innumerable. Occasions are meant to be enjoyed together and not to hurt ourselves.
What I feel is that people automatically get into a super active spirit during occasions, be it Gokulashtami, Holi or Diwali. The regulations put forth by the Bombay High Court are good, but people themselves should set such rules so that they do not harm themselves.
People celebrate the festival of Dahi Handi more nowdays because of its commercial value. Youngsters get into competition and end up breaking their bones. The law imposed is of course for the betterment of people and this should have been imposed earlier. I would like to advise all to celebrate with a smile on their faces.
Instead of banning and adding rules there should be proper precautionary measures taken to avoid uncertain happenings. The festival of Dahi Handi has been going on since ages now and it represents our culture, more particularly in Mumbai where it is celebrated on a large scale.
I think it is a very good idea. People often get carried away as they are high on adrenaline and do not realise the risks they are undertaking. The guidelines are not against but for the people... so it makes sense.
People unnecessarily get harmed and injured in a festival which is meant to rejoice. The Bombay Court has rolled out a good measure for the people.
Felt really happy to see his comment Hope we will keep getting stuff on him till he returns in another show!
