After so much debates going on the Karna forum, thought this will be a relief for my devotee friends Big smile wrote it few months before but forgot to post here Embarrassed

[First of all, I must say that recently I have heard from many that Lord Krishna could not appear in dyuta sabha to save Drauapdi's honor because He was at battlefield then. I read the original Mahabharat again & again to understand this part & it led this FF in my mind. I did not change any incident of original Mahabharat here; it's just an effort to find out the missing link which was not written probably for some reason.]

In the Saubhanagar, the yadava army is very busy in war with king Shalwa. This war is running since many days. But what had happened to Krishna today! Why is He so absent-minded even in battle field? Balaram became worried to see this condition. After sunset, the war was over for that day, & then Balaram came to meet Krishna.

Balaram: Kya hua Kanhaiya? Aaj tum itna udaas kyun ho? Aisa kya soch rahe ho?

Krishna [Sighed]: Priyajano ka dukh dekh kar man vyathit hai dau, bahut vyathit hai!

Balaram: Priyajano ka dukh!! Kanhaiya! Kis priyajano ki baat kar rahe ho tum? Dwaraka me hamara parivar wale ka sab kushal mangal to hai na?

Krishna: Un sabka to kushal hai dau. Mai to bas Pandavo ki baat kar raha tha.

Balaram: Pandavo ki baat?!!! Unka dukh kyun hoga bhala? Bas kuch hi to din gaya hai Maharaj Yudhishthir ne rajsuya yaggya karke samrat ho chuke hai. Ab to un sabka such hi such hai Kanhaiya! Aisa samay me bhi tum kyun unke liye vyarth chinta kar rahe ho?

Krishna: Vyarth chinta nahi hai dau. Sach me hi ab unka bahut gehra sankat aa padha hai!

Balaram: Achhchha? Tumhari baat to mithya ho hi nahi sakti. Kintu mujhe bhi to batao, kaisa sankat hai?

Krishna: Hastinapur naresh ne Pandavo ko dyut krida karne ka nimantran bheja hai. Aur ab to wo sab wahan pahuch bhi gaye hai. Kadachit kal pratahkal hi dyut krida prarambh hogi.

Balaram: Bas? Itna hi? Oh Kanhaiya! Bhai bhai sath milkar khel khelenge, isme bhi tum Pandavo ka sankat dekh rahe ho!! Lagta hai tum un paancho ke prati kuch adhik hi snehashil ho gaye ho. Kintu smaran rahe, moh ya pakshapaat tumko shobha nahi deta.

Krishna: Ye moh nahi hai dau! pakshapaat bhi nahi. Pandav dharma ke rakhwale hai, wo mere sharanaagat bhi hai. Wo apne sare bhaar mujh par de kar chintamukt hai. To unka bhaar to mujhe hi uthana padhe dau.

Aur aap apna priya shishya Duryodhan ko nahi jante dau. Aap soch rahe hai ki wo khel sirf ek bhai bhai ka khel hai. Par aisa suhrid dyut khelne ke liye wo itna jaal bichhake Pandavo ko amantran nahi bheja hai.

Balaram: Chalo maan liya ki Duryodhan koi prapanch rach raha hai. Phir bhi Kanhaiya, jabtak mujhe pata hai, dyut krida me wo utna nipun hai hi nahi ki tumhe chinta ki avashyakta hai. Aur Yudhishthir ko to dyut atyant priya hai. Avashya hi unke samne Duryodhan vijayi nahi ho payega.

Krishna:  Aapka wo shishya itna nirbuddhi nahi hai dau. Shakuni jaisa pasha feknewala mama jiska sahay ho, wo bhala swayang kyun khelega? Ye sabko pata hai ki Shakuni chhal se dyut khelta hai. Aur Dharmaraaj Yudhishthir ko dyut se bhi adhik priya to Dharm hai dau. Chhal kapat se dyut me vijayi hona unke liye sambhav hai hi nahi.

Balaram: Parantu ab tum kar bhi kya sakte ho Kanhaiya? Dyut rokhne ke liye tum ab Hastinapur nahi jaa sakte. Yuddha ki is sthiti me tumhe Yadav sena ka sath dena hi hoga. Tumhari anupashsthiti me Yadavo ki parajay nishchit hai.

Krishna: Agar koi mahattpurn parishthit aa jaye to mujhe jana hi hoga dau. Bhale hi uske liye yuddha me hamari parajay bhi ho jaye, mujhe uska koi dukh nahi. Dau! Aap to jante hai, mere bhakto mere praan hai! Bhakto ki raksha karne ke liye mujhe apni parajay swikar hai.

Balaram: Nahi Kanhaiya! Keval Pandav hi tumhare bhakt nahi, yuddha kshetra me ladnewale ye Yadav sena bhi tumhare hi bhakt hai, tum par hi nirbhar karte hai. Ab tum un sabko shatru sena ke bich rakh kar kaise jaa sakte ho?

Krishna [After a long silence]: Mere kisi bhi bhakt ko koi haani nahi pahuchhegi dau. Kaal sare Yadav sena mujhe apne sath ranbhoomi me hi dekhenge.

Balaram [Sighed with relax]: Achhchha Kanhaiya, ab tum bishraam karo. Mai chalta hun.

Krishna: Pranaam dau!

[Exit of Balaram]

Krishna: Devi Yogmaya!

[Yogmaya appeared]

Yogmaya: Pranaam Prabhu.

Krishna: Devi! Tum to janti ho, kaal dyut me kya honewala hai. Bhakto ka pukar sun kar bhi mai yahan chup chap nahi reh sakta. Samay aane par mujhe wahan jana hi hoga.

Yogmaya: Mere liye tab kya aggya hai Prabhu?

Krishna: Kaal tum Shalwaraaj ke upar apna prabhaav daal kar meri sahaytaa karoge.

Yomaya: Jaisi aapki ichchha Prabhu!

[The next day. Battle field]

Balaram: Lagta hai Shalwaraaj ne mayayuddh kar raha hai. Hamari sena ghayel ho raha hai.

Krishna: Chinta mat kijiye dau. Aapka hal ke samne uski maya kitne der tik payega? Aap swayam aaj Yadav sena ka rakshan me rahiye.

Balaram: Nahi Kanhaiya. Aaj to mai tumko akela chhod kar kahin ja hi nahi sakta. Kaal hi tum ranbhoomi me udaas the. Aur aaj tum kya karnewale ho ye to tum hi jano! Mai bhalo bhati samajh raha hun, Hastinapur ki dyutsabha tumko aakarshit kar rahi hai.

Krishna: Dau, mujh par aapka itna bhi vishswas nahi hai kya? Maine to aapko kaha hai ki mujhe aaj ranbhoomi me avashya dikha jayega.

Suddenly the army of Shalwa made an attack & their discussion became stopped. Both of them became engaged in the war.

It was the mid day. Opponent army was about to be defeated. Many of demon soldiers of king Shalwa were slain by Balaram.  Just now Krishna is fighting directly with the senapati of Shalwa.

At that very moment Krishna could hear a melancholy voice. He identified it as Vidur's.

Vidur [praying]: He Chakradhari Narayan! Apne bhakto ki raksha karo Prabhu! Mere sare prayas ab vyarth ho chuke hai. Ab aapke atirikt aur koi rakhwale hai hi nahi. He Kripanidhan! Daya karo, in par daya karo! Mujhme aur prativad ki shakti nahi, mujhe kshama karo.

At that moment there was a pathetic situation in Hastinapur's dice hall. Chakravarti Samrat Yudhishthir was completely defeated by Shakuni's cheating & Pandavas were in serious danger. Dushshashan dragged Draupadi, the heart of Pandavas, very brutally into the court. Vidur was doing protest during the whole game, but nobody reacted to him. Now he is in bowed head, helplessly praying to Krishna whole heartedly.

Krishna sent His reply within Vidur's mind:

Krishna: Mahatma Vidur! Aap to swayam Dharma ho! Aap kaise shaktiheen ho sakte hai? Mujh par vishswas rakhiye. Mai Draupadi ko avashya raksha karunga, aur ye karya ke liye mujhe aapki hi avashyakta hogi.

Along with keeping full concentration to the dice hall, Krishna continued fight with the senapati. Even when Krishna was talking to Vidur, the senapati never got a single chance to avoid the arrows coming from great Shaarng dhanu! Yogmaya was smiling to see this great multitasking ability of Her dear brother! The condition of opponent army was gradually becoming worse.

Some times passed. Krishna again identified a prayer coming from the dice hall. Yudhishthir was praying to Him:

Yudhishthir [Praying]: He Jagannath! Draupadi ko raksha karo Prabhu!  Wo aapki sakhi, aapki bhagini hai! Mere paapo ka dand aap usko maat do Nath! Maat do!

Then Yudhishthir was silent & calm like senseless in dice hall. None understood that he was in meditation of Krishna.

Krishna sent His message:

Krishna: Maharaj! In paapio me itni shakti nahi hai ki Dharm ki dharmapatni ko kisi bhi kshati pahuchha sake! Aur kisne kaha hai ki aap paapi ho? Meri sharan lene ke baad kisime bhi paap nahi rehta Maharaj. Aap chinta mat kijiye. Mai aaapke sath hi hun.

Meanwhile a messenger arrived there.

Messenger: Pranaam Vaasudev! Maharaj Ugrasen aapke liye ek sandesh bheja hai.

Krishna: Kya sandesh hai doot? Maharaj kushal me to hai?

Messenger gives Krishna a letter. Krishna read it & broke down in grief. Balaram came there.

Balaram: Kya hua Kanhaiya?

Krishna could not utter a single word in utter sorrow. He silently handovered the letter to Balaram. Balaram read it.

Balaram: Koun le aya hai ye sandesh? Kahan hai wo doot?

Messenger: Aggya Haldhaari!

Balaram: Kya ye satya hai ki hamare pitashri ka vadh ho gaya hai?

Messenger: Haan Rohininandan! Shalwaraaj ne mayarath se Dwaraka aa kar unki hatya kar dala. Maharaj Ugrasen ne aap dono ko shighra hi Dwaraka lautne ke liye kaha hai.

Balaram: Laut jau? Is bhishan sangbad ke baad bhi Shalwa ko jivit chhod kar laut jau? Nahi doot! Kadapi nahi! Aaj uska vadh karke apne pita ki mrityu ka pratishodh lunga ya to phir apni mrityu bar lunga. Lautne ka to prshna hi nahi.

Kanhaiya, utho Kanhaiya! Ab shok tyag karke yuddh karo. Hamara pita ka hatyara ko aaj jivit nahi chhodna.

Krishna rose. Being overwhelmed in grief, both of them started a very strong battle.

Suddenly Shalwa entered in the battle field, he was on his maya rath, & the rath carried lifeless body of Vasudev!

Shalwa: Krishna! Kya dekh rahe ho? Tumne mere mitra Shishupal ka vadh kiya tha na? aaj mai tumhere pita ka vadh kar diya. Ab batao, aur bhi yuddh karoge, ya apni sena le kar laut jaoge?

Krishna: Shalwaraaj! Mere pitashri ko tu apna sparsh se ashuddh mat kar! Unka deh par hamara adhikar hai.

Shalwa: Achchha? To ye lo apne pita.

Shalwa threw Vasudev's body from his chariot to the ground.

Just that moment Draupadi's call reached to Krishna.

Father's dead body was in front of eyes, insulted by enemy! It was intolerable for a son! Krishna could not bear with this! Due to extreme sorrow He became senseless, lied down on His chariot.

But in the meantime He used this opportunity & reached Hastinapur's dice hall. He found Vidur & Yudhishthir were in meditation. Krishna became pleased with them. They both were incarnations of Dharma. Krishna sent their infinite Dharma to Draupadi in a form of infinite cloth. Draupadi's honor was protected. Several cloths appeared there in no time, a tired Dushshshan sat down finally. Then Krishna again reached to the battle field & was recovered from senseless condition. Then everyone saw that Vasudev's body disappeared with Shalwa's maya rath!

Krishna: Dekh liya dau? Ye sare Shalwa ke maya the. Avashya hamare pitashri kushal me hi hai.

Balaram: Achchha? Shalwa ka itna bada dushsahas! Aaj is mayavi ko ham to chhodenge nahi.

Krishna: Aaj mere hatho uski mrityu nishchit hai dau. Bahut maya rach liya hai usne. Ab uska antim ghari aa chuki hai.

Krishna attacked Shalwa. He called His Sudarshan Chakra & it came. Krishna did Shalwa vadh with Sudarshan. Shalwa's follower demons fled away. The Yadava army won the battle.

That night, after reaching the tent, Balaram again went to Krishna.

Balaram: Kanhaiya! Yuddh ki vyasta me mai to Pandavo ki baat bhul hi gaya! Wo sab thik to hai na? koi sankat to nahi aya na?

Krishna: Nahi dau. Aaj wo bechare bahut dukh sahan kiya hai, bahut dukh!

Balaram: Ab mai apne ap ko apradhi samajh raha hun! Maine hi tumko rokh liye, unko sahayta me jane nahi diya!

Krishna: Aisa mat kahiye dau. Aaj ranbhoomi me mera rehna mahattpurn tha. Aur mai to wahan gaya bhi tha.

Balaram: Wahan gaye the? Kya keh rahe ho Kanhaiya? Kab gaye? Kaise?

Krishna: Dau, aaj Shalwa ki jo maya aap sab ne dekha, wo uski nahi, balki meri Yogmaya ki maya thi. Devi Yogmaya ne aap sabko bhramit karke meri sahayta kiya. Jab aap mujhe achet padha dekhe the, us samay mai vastav me dyutsabha me gaya tha. Wahan ki sthiti samal kar phir yahan laut aya.

Balaram: Oh achchha!!! Dhanya ho tum aur dhanya hai tumhari maya! Mujhe bhi phaansa liya apna maya jaal me!

[Vyasdev entered]

Vyas: Pranaam Bhagaban!

Krishna: Padhariye Vedvyasji! Aap itna chintit kyun lag rahe hai?

Vyas: He Antaryaami, aap to jante hi hai ki mai kis liye chintit hun! Aaj aapki leela dekh kar mai itna gehra bhaav me doob gaya ki meri rachana adhuri reh gayi! Aap swayam dyutsabha me padhare the, kintu maine ye baat apni rachana me spasht hi nahi kiya!

Krishna: To aapne kya rachana kiya hai Vedvyasji?

Vyas: Jis shloka maine rachana ki, uska arth hua; "Dharm ne vastra ke roop me Draupadi ki raksha kiya." Parantu aisi rachana karna mera uddeshya nahi tha.

Krishna: Aap ne to satya hi racha hai rishivar! Wo anant vastra to anant Dharm se hi utpann hua tha.

Vyas: Parantu aapka mahatmya isse jo chhup jayega He Bhaktavatsal!

Krishna: Vedvyasji! Aap to gyaani hai. Aapko to pata hai ki meri ichchha ke bina koi karya hota hi nahi. Aapne job hi kiya hai, meri hi ichchha se kiya hai. Mai apna mahatmya nahi chahta hun rishivar! Mai to sara shrey apne bhakto ko hi dilata hun! Bhakt meri santaan hai, unka gaurav mera hi gaurav hai! Smaran hai na aapko, Ram roop me bhi mai vanaro ko gaurav dilane ke liye hi samudra par setu nirmaan karvaya tha. Kya samudra paar karne ki shakti mujhme nahi thi rishivar? Dharm mere bhakt hai. Is gaurav mai unko dilana chahta hun.

Vyas: Dhanya ho Prabhu! Dhanya hai aapki bhaktavatsalta!!

Krishna: Aur aap nishchint rahiye. Mere bhakto ke upar maya ka prabhaav nahi hota. Is liye aap chahe jo hi rachana kijiye, mere bhakto meri leela avashya pehchhan payenge!

Om Namo Bhagabate Vaasudevaaya!

Nice excerpts, Sema! Personally, I find it funny that people doubt how Krishna could have been in two places at once. Have people forgotten that Lord Krishna was an incarnation of God, and he was known as leeladhar? Have people forgotten the famous raas leela, where he created many forms of himself to dance with all the Gopis? How is it so hard to believe that the same Krishna was fighting in battle and also saving Draupadi's honor? D'ohLOL It's like people have forgotten the very essence of God. Wacko Unlike Shri Ram, who behaved like a human throughout his incarnation, Shri Krishna never hid the fact that he was God, so why is it so hard to believe that he was in two places at once?

B'cos that's what he told Draupadi when he visited them in the forest - that he couldn't save her b'cos he was busy fighting Shalva... and went on to describe the war.  He told her how he would have urged Bheeshma, Vidura, et al to stop the game, and had they refused, he'd have gone on to massacre Dury, Dushy, et al

I can't dig up the citation at the moment - it's somewhere in Van Parva.

For me, that's the human form of Krishna talking to explain why he could not come personally in his current human form to punish the Kauravas, but his Godly presence exists everywhere. In fact, there is no place where he doesn't reside. Also, I feel this explanation was more to reassure Draupadi why he wasn't there. If Krishna was there, there would have been no need for the kurukshetra war, which had to happen, so his explanation was more to calm Draupadi's heart than to be taken in a literal sense.
