Goatee, spikes and middle partings: a history of Salman Khan's style
While Salman Khan's goatee in Kick has been the talk of the town for some days, this isn't the first time the actor tried a new look. In fact, in the past we did see him try out some radically different looks. Here is our pick of top ten Salman Khan style transformations.

Much has been said about Salman Khan's look in his upcoming film Kick, thanks to the actor sporting a goateeon screen for the first time. However, despite what the publicity machines might tell you, this is not Khan's most radical style transformation.

Much has been said about Salman Khan's look in his upcoming film Kick, thanks to the actor sporting a goateeon screen for the first time. However, despite what the publicity machines might tell you, this is not Khan's most radical style transformation.

Remember this guy? Back when Salman Khan was a fresh kid on the Bollywood block, he wasn't all about biceps and waxed chests. With his doe eyes and a head (and chest) full of hair, Khan won many hearts as Prem inMaine Pyar Kiya.

Then came the age of the mullet. Looking back at Khan inSaajan, it looks like his hairline started receding at around this time, but what he was losing in the front, Khan made up for with the curly locks around his neck. Thisshoulder-length hairstyle was Khan's way of hiding his balding spots but it became quite a rave among young men at the time.

Enter the hairspray. With Hum Apke Hai Kaun, Khan appeared with not so much a head as a helmet of hair. Not a strand of hair moved, regardless of how energetically he danced with Madhuri Dixit in Hum Aapke Hain Koun! Possibly in an effort to distract us from his hair, Khan started wearing jackets with massive shoulder pads and decorative fronts.

Over the years,Khan has managed to create many popular style statements - like his Being Human t-shirts and theblue-stoned bracelet he wears - but in Tere Naam, he had a look that was perhaps his most drastically different. In one part of Tere Naam, Khan was actually bald. At the time, some reports suggested he'd gone bald for the film because he was actually going bald. Whatever the reason, it's the most dramatic physical transformation that Khan has undergone onscreen.

But more surprising than Salman Khan appearing bald in Tere Naam was howpopular his horrible wig became. Menwith perfectly decent hair paid hairdressers to make their hair look like Khan's wig. There are times when the middle path is not the way to go, but almost every youngster in 2003 was following Bhai's example and parting his hair in the middle. The only plus point, as far as Khan was concerned, was that even though the wig made him look ridiculous, it did cover his bald spots.

The sight of a hairless torso is a familiar one today, but it all began with Khan who appeared in Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, sans chest hair. It was as though the star had decided if his head was losing hair, so would his chest. And so began the trend of buff, bare bodies that is going strong even now.Khan has not only flaunted his own abs on numerous occasions, but he has also helped several newbies like Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor bulk...
up.

Khan's Dabangg look - aviator sunglasses, a moustache and khaki - was another sharp turn away from the smooth, urbane look the actor seemed to be cultivating. This was the first time Khan was seen with a moustache and it was a huge hit.Moustaches were suddenly as en vogue as tucking your sunglasses in the back collar.

In the continuing mystery of What the Hell is Going On With Salman Khan's Hair? is the case of Khan's look in Wanted. There were big earrings (which were unfortunate) and a bandana, which seemed to be yet another effort at hiding his hairline. Was it a receding hairline that he was hiding? Was the actor hiding evidence of an incompletehair transplant job? No one can tell for sure except Khan's hairstylist and he's not talking. Not after seeing how Khan beat up those he didn't like in Wanted.

And then there was hair. In celebration of having rediscovered his hair follicles, Khan tried the spiked look in Salaam-e-Ishq. Perhaps because it made Khan look like he'd permanently stuck his finger in an electrical socket, neither the actor nor his fans stuck with this look for too long.
