Separate religion, identity  from politics and power , a majority of conflict , terrorism will be solved.

To achieve that   the awareness level of the people would have to be quite high.

I disagree. Religion is often put at the forefront of the conflict to distract the commoners who do not have much say in the problem or its solution anyways. With the pseudo-1984 times we live in with the NSA spying on everything, there is an active movement to eliminate opposition. In the times of such oppression, people rise up to protest. That's what happened in the east valley and then in Arab springs and Syria.
Even though Assad is the secular rural, Hezbulla supports him and is fighting for him. Though religion may be displayed as the root cause of problems, it is power and money that make the world go round. Had the gulf been agnostic or Syria atheist, this shit would still go down. That's human nature.

Thanks for disagreement,

That was a general observation  as the topic maker try to cover all incidents , weather it is the case of nairobi or in iraq in the name of sectarian conflict or in somewhere else we witness terrorists misuse religion to grab power. when religion become a tool to grab power then conflict, discrimination and terrorism will arises. To impose power in the name of religion, on sectarian line- race fanatics use own version and understanding of religion. Religion in and itself does not cause terrorism but religious extremism cause terrorism, extremist use religion on the pretext of grab power that cause terrorism.

Agree When there is a power struggle  or fight against oppression obviously there will be conflict arises. But in a power conflict normally target will be the opposite force where as here we witness target as civilians. They mix faith to grab power, where even ordinary citizen who fear to oppose them in the name of faith. Religion nothing to do with terrorism but to achieve power fanatics use own version of religion as the tactical tool to grab power or fight with oppressor . Instead attacking the root cause of oppression they attack whoever dont match with their faith weather in the name of shia or suni conflict or in nairobi attack. A ordinary citizen have nothing to do with that power struggle when someone blow up in the name of sectarian conflict.

Said so , root causes like occupation, interference of other countries, discrimination of ruler all provide good fuel to extremist to pursue their terrorist activity. sometime the root cause may be of oil, political instability, foreign occupation, power interference by other countries, discrimination etc. Terrorism is a tool of a strategic political violence they try to fight these discrimination and achieve own goal . I am not saying what should be belief of people but that belief/religion should not use a tool to grab power.  Faith and power should be separate, whatever we witness terrorism in recent history they try to impose their own version of religion and pursue for power. They just use the name of oppression , occupation to indulge in killing civilian, extremists see the enemy behind whoever don't buy their version of ideology they belief. Like what Taliban did first they target whomever they were in conflict for power than in the pretext of fighting occupation- oppression after that they target own people.

All in all i am saying these occupation, interference of other countries, hungry for oil should be stopped so also extremist use religion in the process of grabbing power.

@ramjaane
I hear  you but that is the problem with the single story media sources we consume. We are fed what they (US, West agenda) wants us to see. Syria has peaceful protests. But do we ever hear about those? Egypt was peaceful too until the military forces attacked its people.

Again, I repeat that religion is a front. The true motives are not made public knowledge. It is between the West and the "terrorists". As for the civilian deaths, here is a statistic that'll tell us THERE ARE NO GOOD GUYS.
"

During World War One, 10% of all casualties were civilians.

During World War Two, the number of civilian deaths rose to 50%.

During the Vietnam War, 70% of all casualties were civilians.

In the war in Iraq, civilians account for up to 90% of all deaths.

"
-the war you don't see by john pilger

and about the undue blame placed on religion
"No one is denying that religion is a force and factor in history, but so are empires, so are economic systems, so are ideologies like white supremacy and male supremacy and homophobia and so forth. The obsession with the religious downplays the relationship of religion to empire. Every empire we know used a sword. Some of them were Islamic, some of them were Christian, some of them were secular. Secular liberalism was tied to an empire that killed people too".
-Cornell West

We have to consider BOTH sides of the story. And only then can we come to the inevitable conclusion that both sides are pushing their own agenda. The jihadists cling to religion and the US to its patriot "land of the brave and free" agenda. True is, neither the former nor the later abide by any of the principles they apparently hold so dear.

We both are saying the same thing albeit in different tune. Yes these foreign occupation, hunger for oil , imposition of own agenda play the role simultaneously the religious extremism play important role in these terrorism bcoz we cant blame everything on the outside force or fighting against injustice. In nineteenth century majority of country got their freedom or fight against injustice without even use and pursue any religion extremism .
Sryria was a peaceful protest yes we hear those , but after a certain time it was hijacked by the extremists group , they are committing crime more passionately more than Assad regime even with active support of france etc. Even they are among themselves in violence and conflict on the issue of  who represent  the more extremist position. Similarly when in Egypt the hard earned poplar movement hijacked by religious extremist by imposition of own policy, obviously people protest just like they did against earlier regime.

Regarding war  there is no disagreement that civilians are largest causality when in nineteenth century we develop all kind of advanced weapons, when the perpetrator country always look for maximum damage. One thing we learn from war is the single largest casualty made by the hitler led carzy race thought . We are witnessing that craziness in those sectarian violence. Sometime we should ponder

Who did the killing in iraq in recent past? where every month we hear thousands of death in the name of sectarian violence. or in the nigeria attack whom they target. Similarly we come across the same thing in other countries like pakistan etc. Where religious extremists target ordinary civilian in the name of sectarian violence and imposing own hegemony .We have the burning example of talibans in Afganistan.

The question should be on above violence , are they against occupied force, are they for the betterment of people in general, are those against dictatorship ? Criticizing al queda is not against any religion just like criticising VHP or clu clux clan is not against any religion, blaming extremism is not against religion,  It is choice of people weather they overlook these extremist or face them, the more they overlook the more they will spread their tentacle .
