EK BOOND ISHQ: THE ENIGMA CALLED MRITYUNJAY SHEKHAWAT SINGH!

You look at him and the first word that comes to your mind is "ENIGMA". Undoubtedly in a very long time Mrityunjay Shekhawat Singh essayed by the very charming and amazingly talented Viraf Phiroz Patel is a character that you can truly call UNIQUE. It is not only hard but impossible to read him and that makes him the character all the more interesting and not to forget Viraf's crisp-fine tuned performance adds to the entire appeal.

The million dollar question related to this character and one present on the mind of every viewer watching Ek Boond Ishq is "Did he commit the crime or Did he not???". Since it's an Indian Show, chances are less that Mrityunjay is the culprit but since EBI seems to be completely out of the box in its approach and execution one can never be too sure. One thing that you can say with confidence about Mrityunjay is that there is a lot more to him than meets the Eyes.

Here is a small attempt in figuring out who Mrityunjay is...Mushkil hai but like Tara would have said " Life mein mushkilon ka saamna na kiya, toh kya kiya?"

In the first episode Mrityunjay picked up a fight with one of the prisoners in jail after he and his friends mocked at Mrityunjay and called him a Murderer. In one of the more recent episode too, the same thing followed when a group of Media and Press reporters hounded over the car in which Jayraj Singh and Mrityunjay were traveling. Initially Mrityunjay sat in the car listening to every question but when one of the reporter asked him about the rape and murder and even accused him for all the crimes he supposedly committed all hell broke loose and Mrityunjay ends up thrashing the reporter and destroying his Camera. Before we break down the above mentioned scenes there is one more scene that needs to be stated. In one of the initial episodes Mrityunjay refuses to meet his father Thakur Jayraj and even asks the Jailer to tell his father not visit him and not to try and get him out of Jail.

Breakdown: A deeper look into this character and you know that Mrityunjay has accepted his fate, that he believes there is no hope for himself. His dialogue "Main apna antim sanskar kar chuka hoon" is a testimony of the same. Mrityunjay knows his father is trying everything possible to get him out but somewhere his belief that nothing can be done is the reason that he does not want his dad to come visiting him a process which will only bring great sorrow to both plus he does not want his father to fight a lost battle (According to Mrityunjay). If you are innocent it's highly unlikely that you don't react on being accused for something you have not done. Even if Mrityunjay believes that there is no hope the moment he is called a Rapist or Murderer like in case of the prisoners or the reporter you can see him get offended and forcing him to stand up for himself. So if he is truly innocent than why does he have no hope left? Why does he not want the real culprit(s) to be caught? In the first week Thakur Saab's wife also mentioned about Mrityunjay not being their real son, that Jayraj had adpoted Mrityunjay and made him the eldest Son of the family...Does Mrityunjay feel the need to take the fall because of obligation? Sochne waali baat hai!!!

Hehe he has notcommited the crime , but whats intiguing is  why is he taking the blame  and fine with it?
