CHAPTER 62. GEET'S LOVE AND KHUSHI'S DECISION

Day 11 Thursday

Place - Geet's Room at Shantivan

    Geet groaned as she grabbed her head. Why was her head paining? She pouted and struggled to open her eyes. As she slowly opened them, she saw a glass in front of her held by somebody. She looked up and noticed Arnav holding it. She studied his expression for a moment. He looked really angry. He glared at her, "Pee lo! Sir dard chala jaayega!" Geet frowned but nodded. As she took a sip and she made a face, "AB? Yuck! How horrible this tastes! Yeh kis cheez ka kaadha hai? Aur mujhe kyun pila rahe ho? Mujhe hua kya hai?" Arnav sternly gestured her to drink and she drank it with dread written on her face. Arnav turned away and growled, "Yeh kaadha nahi hangover drink hai!" Geet spit out the drink as she spluttered, "Kya? Hangover? Par kyun? Maine toh... Ek minute? Kal raat ko..." She trailed off as she remembered what happened last night. "Oh no!", she murmured and Arnav turned to look at her with smirk on his face. She mumbled, "Oh no! Oh no! I did not! Not in front of..." Arnav nodded smugly, "Oh yes! You did! Right in front of your boss, the one and only, Maan Singh Khurana!" Arnav looked as if he was thoroughly enjoying it. Geet narrowed her eyes, "Aapko toh bahut mazaa aa raha hoga na?" Arnav grinned and nodded. Geet looked up at the ceiling and spoke, "Dekha aapne Babaji! Yahaan meri band baji padi hai aur inhein mazaak soojh raha hai!" She looked at Arnav and huffed, "Agar mujhe naukri se nikaal diya toh?" Arnav's expression turned stern from amused, "Toh behtar hoga. Kal tumne jo harkat ki hai uske baad toh..." Before he could say anymore, Geet cut him off, "Pot calling kettle black! Ulta chor kotwal ko daante! Aapko yaad nahi toh main aapko yaad dila doon AB, ke parso raat aap bhi nashe mein hi dhut the. So please apne girehbaan mein jhaankiye aur phir mujhpar ungli uthaayiye!" She gave him a sarcastic smile and he glared at her, "Main tumhari madat karun aur tum mujhe taane maarogi? You know what? Forget it! I am getting out of here." He walked away and Geet rolled her eyes, "Aur yeh Di ko Drama Queen bulaate hain!" She got up from the bed to get ready when her eyes widened as she remembered something. She had tried to kiss Maan yesterday. Tried to kiss Maan!!! Oh no! Oh no! She paced around mumbling, "Hey Babaji! Yeh maine kya kar diya? Mr. Khurana ko kiss karne ki koshish ki? Haayo Rabba! Main toh mar gayi!" She slapped her forehead and sat on the bed, confused on how to handle her situation.

Place - Khurana Constructions

   "Sir! Sir! Meri baat toh suniye!", Geet spoke as she walked behind Maan who was walking towards his cabin. All the staff milling around, looked at them curiously. Geet pleaded again, "Ek baar toh sun lijiye!" Maan glared at anyone who stared at them while trying to ignore Geet. He walked as fast as he could so that he could reach the safety of his cabin. He was about to open the cabin door when Geet mumbled, "Sir! Mujhe pata hai kal raat jo hua woh nahi..." Maan turned around and placed a hand on her mouth looking around trying to ascertain who all had heard her words. He glared at her while she looked at him confused. He grabbed her arm and dragged her into the cabin. He made her stand in front of him, "Tum paagal ho gayi ho? Sabke saamne kal raat ki baat kar rahi ho?" Geet frowned, "Par maine kya galat bola?" Maan turned around and clenched his fists trying to calm his anger. Geet, noticing his silence, decided to take her chance and babbled away, "Dekhiye Sir! Kal jo hua uske liye I am really sorry! Mujhe pata hai mujhe aapko kiss karne ki koshish..." She trailed off as Maan turned around and glared at her. She gulped, "I mean main kya karti Sir? Aap ho itne good looking ki koi bhi ladki aapke saath aise hi behave karti!" Maan took a step ahead and she stepped back in fear. Maan growled, "Achcha! Toh kal jo hua usmein meri galti hai!" Geet shook her head rapidly, "Nahi Sir! Maine aisa nahi kahaa! Ismein aapki koi galti nahi hai! Ab aap kya kar sakte ho sir jab aap paida hi itne handsome hue ho!" "Geet!", Maan shouted and Geet smiled uneasily,"Matlab main toh sirf apne aap ko justify kar rahi hoon sir! Aap pe chance nahi..." Maan raised his hand cutting her off. She gulped. Oh teri! Geet! Tu kya bole jaa rahi hai! Ab toh tu naukri se gayi! Maan took a deep breath and mumbled, "Fine! Maine tumhein maaf kiya! Ok? Ab tum yahaan se jaa sakti ho!" Geet nodded with relief and turned to walk away. Then she bit her lip and turned around, "Aapne mujhe sach mein maaf kiya na?" Maan nodded. Geet turned to walk away but hesitated, "Pakka na?" Maan sighed, "Yes!" Geet nodded and was about to open the door but then called out, "Sir?" Maan turned around and roared at her, "GEET! GET OUT!" Geet squeaked in fear and fumbled with the door knob to get out of the room as soon as possible but in her fumbling, her left leg twisted and she fell down. "Geet!", Maan shouted as he hurried to her. She was on the floor with her hands holding her leg which was throbbing in pain. "Tum theek toh ho?", Maan mumbled as he stared at her worriedly. She shook her head while biting her lip due to pain. Maan did not know what to do as he saw his Geet in pain. Making a decision in his mind he suddenly picked her up bridal style while she eeped in shock. She looked at him with surprise as he placed her on his table and started checking her leg. She stared at him as he nodded and mumbled, "Just a sprain! It will be fine soon." He went towards his medicine box and got out a tube of pain balm. As he touched her legs to apply them, Geet felt her heart fill with unknown emotion. And just when I think that I was wrong about you, you go and do something like this. You care for me so much Maan! Why? As she stared at him with confusion in her eyes, he applied the balm and crepe bandaged it. Then he looked at her and his heart skipped a beat. Her eyes showed nothing but love for him. For few seconds it felt as if his Soni was back into his life. He leaned towards her and she smiled softly. She felt her heart beat built up. Seeing his face so close to him, she wished she could kiss his kissable lips. Was he coming close? Was her wish going to come true? Was he about to kiss... Suddenly her mobile rang and they sprang apart. She got down the table and looked around in nervousness. Maan turned away angered at his behavior. Geet fumbled and excused herself. She wobbled out of the cabin towards Sasha's cabin. As she walked slowly, her mind went on to Maan. Kya Mr. Khurana mujhe kiss karne waale the? She remembered how close he was to her when her phone rang. Nahi Geet! Sawaal yeh nahi hai! Sawaal toh yeh hai ki kya main bhi chaahti thi ki Mr. Khurana mujhe kiss karein? Her eyes widened as her heart answered in positive. Yeh mujhe kya ho raha hai? She questioned her heart but this time her heart remained quiet. And Geet's whole day was spent with her wondering what she was exactly feeling for a certain Mr. Khurana.  

Place - Shantivan

     Arnav sat with his laptop on the sofa in the living room while his Di sat nearby with a salesman from boutique showing her some new Sarees. Anjali had decided that she wanted to gift her Bhabhis new Sarees after their wedding on mooh dikhaai. Arnav did not understand the need for it. After all, the brides can go shopping anytime after the wedding and plus they would have a new wardrobe filled with new clothes. So what was the need for Di to buy Sarees just for her Bhabhis. But his Di had demanded and he had to fulfil. Soon, he called up AR Industries and asked to send someone with their top of the line Sarees. Now his Di was sorting through them with excitement on her face. Arnav was brought out of his reverie when the bell rang. The servant opened the door and there stood an extremely nervous looking Khushi. Arnav raised an eyebrow as the familiar anger burned through his veins. What the hell was she doing here? Khushi entered the house her eyes focused on Arnav as she neared Anjali. Anjali got up and hugged Khushi tightly, "Achcha hua Khushiji! Aap aagayi! Dekhiye na! Hum kab se dekh rahe hain in saariyon ko lekin hum samajh hi nahi pa rahe hain ki hum Paayalji ke liye kaunsi lein aur Lavanyaji ke liye kaunsi? Achcha hua humne pehle se hi aapko bula liya tha! Varna toh hum yeh sochte sochte confuse hi ho jaate!" Khushi smiled nervously as both the ladies sat by sofa and went through the Sarees in front of them. Khushi felt relief enter her body. If Anjali was here, Arnav would surely not taunt her. She was safe. Soon, the Sarees were selected and Anjali and Khushi sat chatting about wedding while drinking chai. Suddenly, a cry sounded throughout the house and Anjali got up in alarm, "Lagta hai Kanha uth gaye. Hum zara unhein dekh ke aate hain." And she walked away before Khushi could protest. Khushi gulped. Hey Devi Maiyya! Raksha karna! She looked at Arnav nervously while Arnav just glared at her. She looked down and Arnav spoke, "Tum toh bahut khush hui hogi na?" She looked up and frowned. Now what was he blathering about? Arnav continued, "Jab maine meri life ki pehli saree tumhein di thi. Tumhein toh bahut achcha laga hoga na? Jis cheez ko log crore rupees deke lena chaahte hain; ASR ka pehla project, woh tumhaare paas! You must have felt proud that you reduced the Great ASR to this level." She fumed as she glared at him. How dare he say those words to her! She opened her mouth to retaliate when Anjali walked back. As the ladies chattered, Khushi had made her decision about the Saree. She will give Arnav an answer; answer befitting his question.

Day 12 Friday

Place - Geet's Room at Shantivan

     Geet woke up with an uneasy start. She had not at all slept the whole night. Yesterday the whole evening, she could not focus on anything as her mind went on questioning her feelings for Maan. She could not sleep properly the whole night either due to Maan haunting her thoughts continuously. And when finally she went to sleep Maan started coming into her dreams too. She dreamed of getting engaged to him, she dreamed of their marriage; not only that she even dreamed of their children. What was wrong with her? She could not understand. Was this her heart's way of saying that she was in love? Geet did not know. All she knew was that she could not face Maan today without blushing or shying away. As she opened her eyes to greet the day, she jumped back in shock. There stood Maan Singh Khurana near the foot of her bed smiling at her. He had his arms folded against his chest and his expression showed that he was eager to see her. She blinked twice and Maan vanished. Oye! Ae ki hogaya? She wondered and then noting the time decided to get ready.

    Half hour later Geet dressed in her bathrobe opened her cupboard and pulled out another one of her designer chudidaar. As she closed the door, she took a step back in shock. There stood Maan leaning against the cupboard looking at her from up to down. She looked down and realized that she was in bathrobe. She squealed and ran off to the bathroom. After a while she popped her head out and checked around. There was no one in her room. Arre! Yeh Mr. Khurana kithe chale gaye? Then she rolled her eyes. Oye kudiye! Lagta hai aaj kal tujhe din mein bhi sapne dikhaayi dete hain! She huffed and went to get dressed.

Place - Khurana Constructions

   Geet entered the office with trepidation. She did not think she could face Maan today; not only because of her dreams but also due to what had happened in the morning. After getting dressed up she had gone down for breakfast, where she saw Maan sitting in the nearby chair. It took a while for her to realize that she was staring at her brother, Aakash. Then she had seen Maan in the driver, on the road and even in Adi. What was happening to her? Suddenly, Pinky got hold of her and informed her that MK Sir had gone out for a meeting. She heaved a sigh of relief and went ahead to meet Sasha. No more Mr. Khurana today. She was saved! Maybe till the time Mr. Khurana came back her imagination would quit playing games on her!

Place - Poolside at Shantivan

    Arnav was typing on his laptop when he sensed someone's presence behind. He turned around to see Khushi standing there looking around nervously. His eyes met hers and she flinched at the anger in them. "Tum", Arnav hissed in anger, "Tum yahaan? Ab kiski barbaadi bankar aayi ho yahaan? Kya chaahiye tumhein?" Her eyes flashed in anger at his words and her body stiffened. She held her head high as she replied, "Kuch lene nahi dene aaye hain!" "Kya?", he whispered; she had caught him off guard with her words. She rummaged through her bag and pulled out a Saree; his first creation. She pushed it into his chest, "Yeh lijiye! Aapka pyaar, aapki mohabbat; hum sab kuch iske saath aapko lautaate hain." He took the saree in shock. He did not expect this reaction from her. She continued speaking, "Le lijiye ise aur bhool jaayiye humein. Humne aapki amaanat aapko lauta di. Ab humein baksh dijiye aur humaari Di ke saath aage badhiye!" She turned around to walk away but stopped and spoke, "Jab apne humein yeh saree di thi, tab aapne humein apni zindagi mein ek darja diya tha, ek auhada diya tha, aaj hum is saree ke saath us auhade ko, us darje ko lauta rahe hain. Hum abse aapki zindagi ke khaas insaan nahi rahe. Ab hum ek aam insaan hain." As she walked off, Arnav stood there in shock. As she reached the stairs she stopped and looked at him, "Ab humaare paas aapki aur koi cheez nahi. Ab aap aazaad hain humse aur hum aapse. Ab aapke aur humaare raaste alag hue." As she walked away from his life, Arnav heard something broke. It took him a while to realize that it was his heart breaking.

Place - Khurana Constructions

    Geet walked towards Maan's cabin to place a file. Sasha had asked her to place it there so that whenever Maan came back he could go through it. Geet agreed to place it as she knew that Maan was still in the meeting. What Geet did not know was that the meeting got postponed and Maan was back in his cabin. She entered his cabin and froze when she noticed Maan sitting in his chair. Then she shook her head. She was daydreaming! Again! Maan was looking at her in confusion. She ignored him and placed the file. The Maan in front of her raised an eyebrow at her quiet behavior. As she turned to walk away, Maan spoke, "Geet! Yeh kaunsi file hai?" Geet frowned; Arre! Subah se jitney bhi Maan dekhe woh toh kabhi bolte nahi, yeh waala kyun bol raha hai? She turned around in confusion. Maan gave her irritated look, "Geet! Jawaab do!" Geet gulped. Geet tu kamli hogayi hai. Jahaan dekhti hai wahaan tujhe Maan Sir hi dikhte hai! This was her imagination. Yeh toh pakka hai! And the best way to test it was to poke it. She was sure that once she poked Maan, Maan would vanish. She quietly raised her hand and poked Maan's cheek with her finger. "GEET!", Maan roared fed up of her antics. Geet jumped and squealed. Yeh Maan toh asla waala nikla. "Sorry!", she whispered and ran out of the cabin. Maan stood there glaring at her retreating back. Ise kya hogaya! Pata nahi! Ek toh khud paagal hai aur ab mujhe bhi paagal kar degi!

Place - Geet's Room at Shantivan

  Geet entered her room in huff. After that incident with Maan, Geet had refused to come out of Sasha's cabin. The only time she came out was to go home. But then also her torture did not end. She saw Maan in Aakash, Maan in Arnav, she saw Maan even in Shyam. Geet lied down on her bed and wondered; what was wrong with her? She could not understand. Was she in... Her sister came in to place her ironed clothes into her cupboard. Even though they had servants at their house, Anjali sometimes loved to do such small things for her siblings as this was her way of showing her love. "Di!", Geet whispered and Anjali looked at her curiously. Geet always called her AD; the only time she called her Di was when she was in mood of serious talk. Anjali sat beside her and smiled, "Kya baat hai Baby?" Geet moved a bit and placed her head in Anjali's lap and Anjali's hand automatically started combing through Geet's hair. "Di! Yeh pyaar kya hota hai?", Geet whispered and Anjali's hands stilled for a moment. She looked down and frowned, "Yeh kaisa sawaal hai?" Geet shrugged and Anjali huffed, "Aur tum yeh sab kyun pooch rahi ho?" "Bataao na Di!", Geet pouted and Anjali shook her head, "Humne tumhaara naam sahi rakha hai! Ek dum baby ho tum!" Geet whined, "Di!" "Achcha baba achcha! Hum bataate hain!" She thought for a while, "Baby! Pyaar koi cheez nahi hai jisko aap describe kar sakte ho! Pyaar toh bas ek ehsaas hai! Jise hum mehsoos karte hain. Koi aata hai aur chup chaap aapke dil mein apne liye ek choti si jagah bana leta hai! Dheere dheere woh aapke dimaag pe chaa jaata hai. Har pal uski yaad aati hai, use na dekho toh mann bechain ho jaata hai aur dil dheere dheere uske saath zindagi bitaane ke sapne dekhta hai." Geet frowned; Mujhe toh yeh saare symptoms nahi hue toh kya mujhe pyaar nahi hua? Oddly, she felt disappointed by this thought. Anjali continued speaking lost in her thoughts, "Par sabke liye pyaar ek jaisa nahi hota! Kabhi pyaar dheere se zindagi mein aata hai aur kabhi kisi ke zindagi toofan banke sab kuch hila jaata hai." Geet got up and frowned at her sister, "Toh phir insaan ko pata kaise chale ki use pyaar hua hai ki nahi?" Anjali shook her head, "Simple! Aankhen band karo aur apne dil se poocho!" Suddenly, they heard Naaniji hollering for Anjali and Anjali excused herself and walked away before Geet could ask any more questions. Geet pouted and wondered; was her sister right? Kya aankhen band karne se pyaar ka pata lag jaata hai? Lagta hai try karna hi padhega. She looked up and prayed, "Hey Babaji! Please mujhe mere sawaalon ka jawaab dila do!" She folded her legs under her and took a deep breath. She raised her right hand and tapped her chest right above her heart as if trying to grab its attention. She mumbled quietly, "Dekho dil! Ab mujhe sahi sahi jawaab dena! Confuse mat karna! Sach sach bataana ki pyaar hua hai ki nahi?" She grinned eagerly and closed her eyes. Before she could open her mouth and ask her heart whether she was in love or not, a face flashed in front of her eyes. The face flitted away before she could register it. A whisper floated by, "Geet!" She opened her eyes and looked around, "Maan!" She was sure she heard him whisper but where was he? She shook her head; she was going crazy it seemed. She took a deep breath and went back to her love finding exercise. She closed her eyes and this time the image remained; it was Maan standing in front of her giving her a tender smile. She blushed at the look his eyes were giving and she opened her eyes in shock. Yeh Mr. Khurana kyon baar baar beech mein aa rahe hain? Main yahaan apne dil se baat kar rahi hoon na? She huffed and closed her eyes again. But this time Maan appeared again only to grab someone's hand. She turned her head a bit to look at the person and she was stupefied to see none other than herself standing there looking at Maan with love filled eyes. Maan pulled the other Geet close and hugged her tightly. Geet opened her eyes in shock. Why was there happiness in her heart when Maan hugged the other Geet? Why she felt peace when Maan looked at her so lovingly? Was she in love? She shyly smiled as she realized that her heart had definitely given her an answer. She was in love! She was in love with Maan Singh Khurana! She grinned eagerly and whispered, "Mujhe pyaar hogaya hai!" Then she spoke with conviction loudly, "Mujhe pyaar hogaya hai!" "Achcha?", a voice mumbled and she eeped in shock to see Maan sitting beside her. She looked at him with wide eyes and open mouth. Maan smiled at her and she realized that he was a hallucination. She gave him a smirk and mumbled, "Haan! Mujhe aapse pyaar hua hai!" Next thing she knew he vanished and Geet grinned eagerly. She got up from her bed and started spinning around. She was in love! Her first love! She ran over to a picture of Babaji hanging on the wall and joined her hands in front of it, "Thank you Babaji! Mujhe meri zindagi ka pehla pyar dilwaane ke liye!" She giggled excitedly and sat on her bed. She took a deep breath with a smile on her face and sang softly, "Soyi Soyi Palkon Pe Chalke..." She remembered how Maan had taken care of her injured hand. She smiled softly and sang again, "Meri Sapno Ki Khidki Pe Aagaya..." She let out a giggle and fell on her bed, "Aate Jaate Phir Mere Dil Ke..." She turned around and lied on her stomach, "Inn Haathon Mein Woh Khat Pakda Gaya..." She felt a kiss on her cheek. She looked around in shock but no one was there. She let out another giggle and started singing.

Suddenly, she heard her sister call her. She ran downstairs where her sister asked her to keep an eye on Kanha while she called Khushi's mother about some wedding preparations. Geet agreed and ran into her sister's room. She sat down by her nephew who was playing with his toys. She tickled him and laughed alongside him.

"Hem hem", someone cleared their throat and Geet turned to see Anjali standing near the door looking at her curiously. Geet blushed and then placing Kanha on the bed she ran and hugged Anjali tightly. She started singing as confused Anjali hugged her back.

Before Anjali could speak up, Geet placed a kiss on her cheek and ran away leaving a baffled Anjali behind. Geet ran towards the hall where her DJ was sitting with her MJ. She ran towards them and hugged DJ from behind.

Then she hugged MJ and kissed her cheek.

She ran towards the stairs where Arnav was getting down with his eyes on his mobile. She ran towards him and pulled the phone away from him making Arnav shout at her.

Arnav ran behind her and she scrambled away to hide behind Aakash who was coming from outside.

Place - Buaji's House At Laxminagar

    Madhumati aka Buaji, seated on the sofa, sighed as she stared at the photo album. The picture is front of her was of her brother holding a newly born Paayal. How fast the time went away! She wondered. Was it just yesterday when her eldest niece was born? And now, two of her nieces, Paayal and Lavanya, were getting married after exact twenty days. While Madhumati had not counted, Khushi had a habit to squeal into her ears daily morning the exact number of days left for her sisters' wedding. Suddenly, she felt someone hug her from behind. She smiled softly. Her titaliya was home. Her titaliya placed her head on Bua's shoulders and Madhumati patted her cheek as both of them stared at the photo. With a sigh, Madhumati closed the album and grabbed Khushi's hand. She pulled the girl and made her sit beside her, "Ka baat hai titaliya? Bahut chup chup ho?" As far as she knew, Khushi had been a smiling and cheerful girl from her childhood. So to see Khushi looking so sad, pinched her heart. She would have to do something; something to save herself from more tears! She would have to do something before Arnav broke her totally. Soon, her mind gave her an idea and she looked at her Buaji, "Buaji! Hum soch rahe the..." She trailed off unsure whether to proceed with her decision or not but Buaji coaxed her to speak, "Buaji! Humein lagta hai ki humein Lucknow chale jaana chaahiye! Amma ko madat ki jaroorat hogi aur Jiji ki bhi yaad aa rahi hai!" Buaji frowned, "Par titaliya.." but Khushi cut her off, "Hum jaante hain Buaji ki jab tak aapko dhang ka kiraayedaar nahi milega tab tak aap wahaan nahi aa paayengi. Lekin hum toh sirf ghar ki saaf safaai ke liye aaye the aur woh ho gaya! Toh ab humein lagta hai ki hum udhar jaake ghar ke kaamon mein haath bataayein. Phir Jiji aur Di ke saath shopping bhi karni hain. Aur waise bhi Jiji aur Di ke saath kuch hi waqt bache hain. Ab hum yeh waqt unke saath bitaana chaahte hain!" Buaji thought for a while and in the meantime Khushi prayed to her Devi Maiyya that Buaji agreed with her. After a while, Buaji smiled, "Jaisan tohaar marzi bitiya! Chali jaana! Hum ticket book karwa det hain!" Khushi smiled through her tears and hugged her Bua tightly. Bye bye! Arnavji! Ab hum aapko aapki saali ke roop mein hi milenge, aapki aur Di ke shaadi mein!

AUTHOR NOTES

First of all, sorry for the delay. I had a panic attack when I got my results and saw that I barely passed one of the subjects. It freaked me out so much that I could not write anything even when the whole plot was written down in front of me and the scenes were running through my mind. Inspite of having the notes nearby, my mind refused to give me words to write the chapter. I wanted to inform you guys of my situation, but had no net and was too worried about studying to take time to go to a cyber caf. Plus, what would I tell you? That I don't know when I will update next! Maybe I should have told you that I will continue the story one day but don't you guys know that already! If you have been reading my story for a while, you guys must have known that I would never abandoned my stories! I agree that I should have informed you that I am ok but honestly, at that time I did not think my mind block would take so much time to get normal. I thought it would take me 1 or 2 weeks after which I will be able to write. So I thought I will back soon so what is the use of informing. But the freaking problem kept on continuing. Now that my recent results came and I scored well, I am back to normal.

Second of all, I will reply your review after I complete both the Kahaani Zubaani stories. I am focusing on delivering next chapter as soon as possible of all three of my stories. So all the reviews will be replied after KZ ends.
