How come ekta would say all this, her production house is not as big as Srk's production, plus she doesn't want to fight with such big star. She is doing her best she can.

People now mocking Ekta or OUATIMD team should consider this also as EID date was locked by Balaji 1 year ago, everyone knew as film has muslim theme, so that date would be appropriate to release the film. Srk & UTV didn't announce the Eid date until they got the confirmation as No Salman film is landing on Eid as per schedule every year. First they came as clashing with OUATIMD, then they request Balaji to shift, when they do, now they ain't accommodating, now accepting the request of a big superstar is a big crime, woh bhi SRK level ka superstar?

see ekta was fully aware tat what might happen.but she let it happen..srk is big star but he cant stop u releasing film with chennai express..agreed ekta is small compare to srk but she is not too small u cant raise her voice๐Ÿ˜†...utv shifted date ..ekta reacted no? one can assume that she was aware of it..films makers do contract with threates and distrubtors days ahead of release dates and if utv and srk forcing not to  remove chennai express and ekta is aware of it  then why  she is not asking cinema halls to stick to earlier agreement ,,,most probably she knew abt it or agreed to it and if she was not aware of  it then as captain of ship of film she is coward who cant save her own ship...

Nice to know that SRK's detractors think SRK is a superstar of SOME level. Warna they had convinced me that SRK era is over. Being a superstar of that level he should look out for others films just like rest of BW esp a very human star does. ๐Ÿ˜†

You are beating your head against the wall. I have seen cinema halls taking down films within days if it flops(less than 7 days). There is nothing that can be enforced on the exhibitors who are backed by local politicians, businessmen and goons. At best they can have contracts with plexes which are run more professionally. CE is enjoying a good run. Thats why exhibitors dont want to it take down esp on a holiday. OUATIMD buzz is lukewarm and EK and exhibitors both know it. So she is trying make best out of a bad situation. Its too much to accept that in case of a SRK film.
EK being a smart woman knew from the thanda trailer of OUATIMD and good response of trade to CE that she has to do her best.

It's not the first time UTV and SRK have played it this way. Changing the release date for them.. dumb Balaji should've known better. Khair, the film should still work because of Akki and Sonakshi ๐Ÿ˜Š

As the country celebrates the 67 th  year of independence, Akshay Kumar starrer Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara (OUATIMD) hits the screens. The movie, which is a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Mumbai will be releasing across 1,200 to 1,400 screens today. The restricted release is because Disney Utv Studios and Red Chilies Enertaiment's Chennai Express is currently occupying majority of the screens.

From 16 August, the movie will run across 2,500 to 2,700 screens according to industry sources. This is nearly a 1,000 screens less that Chennai Express that released across 3800 screens. Single screens will have a division of shows with 50-50 to both movies wherever Chennai Express is doing well and it will continue in second week. When contacted, officials at Balaji Moion Pictures refused to comment.

An independent distributor informs, "Negotiations are still going on regarding the number of screens but it will suffice to say that OUATIMD may not get the opening it expected to get on a national holiday like 15 August singularly because of the lack of screens"

A lot will depend on the word of mouth the film generates. Independent distributor and trade analyst Suniel Wadhwa says, "Chennai express was not affected by any south films in south India so it got huge advantage in terms of number of screens release. This benefit may not be enjoyed by OUTIMD. Anticipation of the film among audience is that it is not a definite or must watch film since appeal is limited as the genre doesn't goes with youth audience. It can work on strong word of mouth as music has become popular so it will enjoy a decent opening."

According to industry sources, the cost of production of the movie is nearly Rs 90 crore which includes Rs 70 crores in production and nearly Rs 20 crore in print and advertising.

The film did have an extensive marketing campaign in the run up to its release. Capitalising on the heavy footfalls enjoyed by Chennai Express, the promoters of the film arranged for special Qawali performances at cinema halls to market OUATIMD.

The film also tied up with Pvr Cinemas for a special promo depicting cinema etiquettes. The promo played across all the PVR & Cinemax properties during each and every show of every film, right from 29 th  May to the release of the film. It captured the character of Shoaib (played by Akshay Kumar) while delivering the core communication of the film to the audiences.

The film stars Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha along with Akshay Kumar.
