Noted lyricist Vaali passes away at 82

Having started in the mid-60s, Vaali went on to pen nearly 10,000 songs in his five-decade-long career.

Veteran Tamil film lyricist Vaali died at a private hospital here today. He was 82.

Vaali was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for respiratory problems for a month and was on ventilator support.

Born as TS Rangarajan in the temple town of Srirangam, Vaali penned lyrics for stars across generations, from the veteran MG Ramachandran (MGR), Kamal Haasan to present day heroes like Dhanush. He worked with star composers of Tamil cinema like MS Viswanthan and AR Rahman.

Having started in the mid-60s, Vaali went on to pen nearly 10,000 songs in his five-decade-long career.

Vaali also acted in a few movies including veteran K Balachander-directed Poikal Kuthirai and Kamal Haasan's Hey Ram.

He wrote two songs in Bharat Bala directed film Mariyan, starring Dhanush, which is scheduled for release tomorrow.

One era came to end. May his soul rest in peace:(

He used easy language for his songs which was easily understood by everyone and I just loves his combination with Yuvan and AR.Rahman. He penned down one of my all time fav "Munbe Va".

Many golden artists leaving one by one Unhappy

I remember seeing Vaali sir in K Balachander's shows and also in Parthale Paravasam and he has great sense of humor and not to forget that all his works are good.

The songs he wrote with Ilayaraja, AR Rahman and Yuvan and even Harris Jayaraja all are epic many song which are my all-time favorite songs. If it was one or two songs means I cantell the list but it is a huge list. Legend is a legend he cannot be death his works will remain at his best!!!
