Starting 7th July'13, every Sunday at 7 pm, the brand new episodes will continue to unravel heinous teen crimes in our society and the circumstances which make criminals out of the youth. Not only has Gumrah found favour with audiences over two seasons, it also recently won the Best Non-Fiction Show at the prestigious Indian Telly Awards. Unlike other crime shows, by showcasing crimes committed by the youth in our country in a manner that explores the circumstances that led to the crime rather than sensationalising it, Gumrah tackles bigger issues like peer pressure, the need to fit in, materialism and the dilution of morals, thus initiating a dialogue for the youth to express and address their problems. Gumrah back for season 3 with an app!

Gumrah Season 3 will be anchored by Karan Kundra and is being endorsed by Bollywood star Chitrangda Singh. She will be seen narrating the first episode on July 7. Channel V has also made a unique phone app 'VithU' for android phone users, as an extension of the show which features a 'panic button' that can be used in the face of danger. The app and its usage will be shown by Chitrangda herself. Says Prem Kamath, GM & Channel Head, "In our unique position as the one and only youth entertainment channel, we are well aware that we not only need to entertain the youth but also inform and prepare them. 'VithU' app is an extension of the show which equips the society against unfavorable circumstances and can prevent their victimisation. Gumrah is that flagship show of the Channel which has been for the last two seasons guiding the youth through the dark corners of the mind and how we can overcome them. Season 3 will take off from where we left last time and make it even bigger and better." Gumrah Season 3 will be on air from 7th July '13, every Sunday at 7 pm, only on Channel V.

Help is just a call away with Gumrah Season 3 launching VithU phone app. All you have to do is press the panic button
Jasmine Singh

These are the two things, which do not make a hue and cry about their arrival, they simply slither their way through—danger and crime. Both are so beautifully co-related that you need a strong intuition to handle them, or you can let technology make things easier for you.

Channel V's unique Gumrah 'VithU' phone app promises to deal with danger and crime affectively. Chitrangda Singh will endorse the show and its unique phone app. The host of the show Karan Kundra who has taken the audiences through the hard-hitting cases for the two seasons have all the reason to put his faith in VithU phone app.

Just for you

Her dusky looks and smouldering eyes have won many hearts. Bollywood actor Chitrangda Singh makes her television debut with Gumrah Season 3, and the beauty believes in saying no to what is wrong, and yes to what is right. It is the Channel V's VithU phone app that she zeroes in on as the right thing.

"As youngsters we all went friends' place for a sleepover and we encountered some untoward incidents. I wish this application was there at that time to avoid such situations," shares Chitrangda.

Gumrah Season 3 will be anchored by Karan Kundra and is being endorsed by Bollywood star Chitrangda Singh. She has already narrated the first episode on July 7. "The unique phone app VithU for android phone users is amazing. It features a 'panic button' that can be used in the face of danger. I will be using it myself," she adds.

It's pouring offers for the beauty, but she would rather let the producers talk about it. "I have a lot of offers and you will definitely see a lot of me. I think it is only wise on my part to let the producers talk about my movies." Television is a big platform for Bollywood stars and Chitrangda is aware of the fact. "TV is quite a big medium for reaching out to the common man. Shows like Gumrah make the society sit up and notice where we need to change ourselves." She has a quick piece of advice for the women, "Don't think you face danger from strangers, even someone close to you can harm you. Just be alert," adds Chitrangda.

He is back

Karan Kundra comes back as the host for the third season of Gumrah. Of course, he has choices and a lot of work in films; this is however one platform he will always have time for. "Hosting Gumrah has changed me as a person, I am more sensitive to the people around and now I can understand their problems better," says Karan, who feels he has a deeper connection with the show, more than a mere host. "I have seen tragedies that we have shown on our various episodes. That pain and trauma stays with me for a long time."

It is work and more work for Karan, as he laughs. "I haven't slept in ages I think. The show and films, it is going from one unfinished project to the other." When does he get time to meet his real self? "Meeting with Karan happens only when I am with my family and friends, I feel real with them." Karan will soon be seen in Bollywood films and a Punjabi movie.

A step forward

Taking a step ahead from the earlier seasons, Season 3 will focus on equipping the youth to avoid being victimised by the criminal elements at large in the society; thus focusing on the thought—"Be Aware, Be Prepared, Be Safe." Prem Kamath, general manager and channel head, who likes to interact with youngsters through live musical shows and programme, says, "We not only need to entertain the youth but also inform and prepare them. VithU app is an extension of the show which equips the society against unfavourable circumstances and can prevent their victimisation. Season 3 Gumrah is even bigger and better." The show recently won the Best Non-Fiction Show at the prestigious Indian Telly Awards.

Karan Kundra helps cops nab a criminal

Karan Kundra
Karan Kundra

He is popular for hosting the teen crime show Gumrah but recently Karan Kundra  himself got into real action. Last week he was shooting at the skywalk adjacent to Ghatkopar railway station late in the night. It was raining heavily and there was nobody around except Karan, the director, cameraman and an attendant. Just when they started rolling the camera, Karan saw a man running from the opposite side towards him.

At first he ignored him but when he saw some men chasing him and yelling at him to stop, he got distracted. Says Karan, "We got a call from the production team that a lot of top cops were in the vicinity. I realised something was wrong. My cameraman then tried to stop the guy but he was pushed. When the guy was crossing me, I reacted instinctively.

Though he was threatening to kill me if I try to stop him I kicked him and he fell. Within minutes the cops came, picked him up and vanished!" Till date Karan is wondering who was the culprit. Who knows, Karan may have ended helping the cops catch a dreaded criminal!

Karan Kundra helps fight crime

Karan Kundra the popular host of 'Gumrah', the TV show which brings to light some real life teen crime cases, recently had a close encounter of the 'criminal' kind.

Recently, he was shooting adjacent to the Ghatkopar Railway Station in Mumbai, on the skywalk.

The only people accompanying him on that rainy night were the director, cameraman and the attendant. Just as the Director yelled 'Action', Karan saw a man running towards him, with cops chasing him.

When he heard them yelling at the man, he knew that this was a police chase in progress. Karan said, "We got a call from the production team that a lot of top cops were in the vicinity. I realized something was wrong. My cameraman then tried to stop the guy but he was pushed. When the guy was crossing me, I reacted instinctively. Though he threatened to kill me if I tried to stop him, I kicked him and he fell. Within minutes, the cops came, picked him up and took him away."

Karan didn't know who the culprit was, but what matters is that our streets are a lot safer now, with one goon off it.

Five star hotel turns spooky for Vikram Bhatt's next

A well known five-star hotel in Juhu, Mumbai, which was once a venue for high-end Bollywood parties and is now an abandoned property, has been used by Vikram Bhatt for his next, Horror Story. After scaring audiences by showcasing spooky apartments, his next horror venture will be set inside a hotel.

Reveals actress Nandini Vaid, who plays a prominent role in the movie, "It's a story about seven friends - four boys and three girls, who after partying decide to explore a haunted place. They choose a spooky looking hotel based in a metro to check if the haunted stories revolving around it are true. The hotel was selected by Bhatt, and has been renamed Hotel Grandiose where most of the film has been shot."

The main characters have been played by seven young actors. Apart from Vaid, who makes her Bollywood debut with this film, the movie also stars TV actor Karan Kundra and other newbies.

As a contrast to Bhatt's previous film, this movie will stay away from romance and songs and promises to give viewers a spine-chilling experience.

The shooting for the film is complete and currently, the unit is busy with the post-production work. Horror Story is slated to release by August-September.
