"don't you ever ever do this to me again... samjhi tum?"

he is shouting into the phone, beside himself with worry. tense, fearing the worst... mind flying to terrible places as his repeated calls to her are going unanswered. would i panic like that for someone fairly incidental in my life... an essentially faraq nahin padta sort of entity? would i say, don't you ever do that... to me? he is shatir of mind but obviously the shenanigans of his dil are beyond comprehension now.

there are only feelings running wild.

two conversations, one at top of episode and the other as episode came to and end, were where it was all at for me. both conversations were had with khushi. in the first one, he succeeded in quickly hiding his feelings, and she was too perturbed, distracted to perhaps notice the glaring gaffes.

in the second one, he couldn't help himself; his feelings, his lowering of guard, his showing of faraq, everything was there... only for khushi. unfortunately he was saying it all to lavanya.

he is really like that only, to steal from the famous "v are like that only," tagline for v tv.

every word of the first conversation was classic. this is exactly how your long time lover or husband sounds when you don't pick up the phone for a day... she'd been gone longer in his estimate... an entire couple of hours. the feeling was so new, its intensity stratospheric, its proneness to jump to the worst conclusion worryingly high. today he thought she had been hurt or worse... soon this will make him think the worst of her.

"khushi, phone kyun nahin utha rahi hai..." why isn't she picking up the phone he muttered as he kept on trying. and when she did pick up the phone, that relief swamped him... he just lost it. all his emotions there in the words that exploded.

"pata hai kabse phone mila raha hoon main... tumne phone kyun nahin uthaya?" do you know for how long i've been trying, why didn't you pick up the phone?!!

she's taken aback at his vehemence.

"kitna pareshan ho gaya tha main,"
i was so worried, his voice is raw, real... he wanted to see, her hug her perhaps, make sure she was ok. yet her voice was all he could hold on to and she didn't say a word. that halted him.

"khushi... khushi talk to me..." silence at the other end, then his three little words, "tum theek ho? kahan ho tum?" where are you?

"hum bilkul theek hain. hum mandir mein hain," she said as calmly as she could, i am ok, i'm at the temple. her world was reeling and this extreme emotion at this point was perhaps too much to handle. she was begging dm to show her the way. weighing competing stories that affected all their lives, wondering how to work it all up to the point where she could reveal shyam's true face without harming anything or anyone.

how does an 18/19 year old cope with this? or does precisely this youth and its resilience itself work i ones favour ultimately?

he hears her voice and seems to breathe again.

"aapko fikar karne ki..." you don't have to worry, she starts but he has to cut her short. "fikar" a sense of care in it... and he can't let her think it was that.

"fikar ki baat nahin hai... mera matlab... itna sara kaam baki hai..." it's not about that... i mean there's so much work to be done... lame excuse, man yelling on the phone.

she puts the phone down after saying i had to go... there's so much going through him as he stands there trying to cool down, work off the worry. camera pulls back slowly, la stands in foreground... privy to a conversation and its effect she wished she'd never witnessed.

the entire middle of the episode was bloated with shyam. and begging for some right emotion from the mother and aunt of a girl they called their own. shyam used his usual ploys to try and get khushi to keep quiet. he hoped his "confession" would make them realise what a decent soul he was, he cleverly inserted worries about payal and akash's relationship, especially in light of the fact that payal's baraat had gone back before. love the way he goes for a volley of arrows, hoping something will catch someone... the faces were looking too determined and scathing... surely, someone? and an arrow found its mark. amma. and her fear of payal's shaadi breaking again. satisfied with his handiwork, shyam did some serious lopsided smiling and went off, off course a couple of twitches were added too for good measure.

notice how both hero and villain have lopsided smiles. one has us clutching our gut/heart, the other has us quaking/guffawing. naughty director was having a lot of fun at the expense of the ladkiyan... us.

thereafter, the tussle over the yes or no of divulging all to anjali. i missed asr for khushi at this point. haq hai tumhara... mujh pe. you have a right over me. possibly the only human being to give her that unstintingly and one who'd defend her rights no matter what. instead of begging titaliya's forgiveness for coercing and forcing her to say yes to shyam, buaji is all righteous rage and advice. and amma? the writers did her grave injustice at this point, or was there a peak into reality in her reaction?

payal is her husband's biological daughter, khushi is her sister's only child, when push came to shove, she seemed to take the side of the one born to her husband... was there a touch of looking after number one by her instincts? perhaps being middle class, the horror of yet another broken marriage for her daughter was too much to bear, she didn't even feel her other daughter's turmoil, her state of mind. she felt no rage against shyam for doing this to her child... just that fear of shame in payal's life stalked her.

no one thought of khushi's feelings.

finally, payal stepped in and said, no way, jose... shyam hangs. a clear headed, straight forward sort of girl, with a quiet courage, a fierce love for her sister who came, lost and little, into her life years ago. a girl of a certain stubbornness too... she could have gone far.

as i was thinking this, they cut to this scene. too shatir director/screenplay writer... one ladki stopped thinking immediately.

he sits at his recliner working, remembers her dashing into him at the poolside...  tears, helpless, silent... a slow close up... a world of feelings in  his inward gaze. she is on his mind, constantly.

as his fiance watches, he picks up his phone with a distracted air and fixes a meeting for the sixteenth, the day he is to get engaged. she is shocked. she tries to nudge his memory... fails. then he gets it.

the ultimate, "oh shucks" expression as he turns away... soon there's a layer of remorse.

"tell me the truth asr, kya tum sach mein bhoole the...ya fir tumhe koi faraq hi nahin padta..." la can't just let this pass, she keeps seeing things and the warning signs are too many to ignore. she decides to check out the scene... tell me, asr, did you really forget or does it not matter to you anyway.

"nahin... it's..." he's not himself at all... feeling strange... this engagement that he called upon himself... "it's not that... i'm really sorry... woh itti saari cheese handle karta hoon kabhi kabhi kuch pata hi nahin chalta..." no really, it's not that, i'm really sorry, i keep doing so many things, sometimes i just don't know what i do...

"itti saari..." was this just by chance or deliberate? the only other time i have heard asr use the more colloquial way of saying itna or itni was during that terrible and beautiful fight of first august. "itta aasan hai tumhare liye?" usually he'd say "itna" or "itni." maybe this was just barun slipping into easier pronouciation, but worked like a dream... a telltale slip indicating his heightened emotional state, the so rigid and precise world of asr not that much in control?

he knows this is all wrong. he walks away and with his back to her, his classic stance, he starts an apology that will lead to the realisation of a truth by lavanya... though still a tad unclear to him (slow boy, in matters of dil).

"main janta hoon kijaane anjane mein maine tumhe bahut chot pahunchai hai..." his mind was so on khushi, not yet disengaged from her... i know, knowingly and otherwise i've hurt you a lot.

la looks up, surprised.

"woh iss liye... but that's because... iss liye kyunki mujhe kabhi pata hi nahin chalta... it's because i never really know... par phir jab realise karta hoon... but then when i realise it... i really regret it.. i ... i really do..."

la is smiling, beginning to walk toward him...

"bahut bura lagta mujhe... par main kuch kabhi jaankar nahin karta, khushi, main bas..." i feel really bad... but i never do anything knowing what i'm doing, khushi, i'm just...

khushi. la hears the name and seems to freeze. he still has no idae what he's just said... he carries on, la can't stop him.

"main bas aisa hi hoon, shayad main..." i am like this, maybe i...

la has to make him stop. for her sake. for his sake. she puts her hand on his shoulder

"asr, it's lavanya." that's all... that's enough. more effective than a moral lecture, a diatribe.

he turns around... shocked at himself... at the whole thing.

this is one of those unbelievably beautiful scenes of ipk which makes it a classic. a man in love, completely unaware that that's what it is, is making a confession of his shortcomings to the woman he loves, little realising it is not her but his fiance standing there listening. when he is in such deep emotion there seems to be only one person he reaches out to, whether she is there... or not.

sublime insight into a state of mind. and of course, barun sobti's acting leaves you shaken to the core. this is a real man talking here... a soliloquy so beautiful, it would get etched in our minds... "main bas aisa hi hoon," words that would become quotable in no time.

Indi just loved it but I am not understanding this para.  Language barrier.  what does it all mean?
"itti saari..." was this just by chance or deliberate? the only other time i have heard asr use the more colloquial way of saying itna or itni was during that terrible and beautiful fight of first august. "itta aasan hai tumhare liye?"usually he'd say "itna" or "itni." maybe this was just barun slipping into easier pronouciation, but worked like a dream... a telltale slip indicating his heightened emotional state, the so rigid and precise world of asr not that much in control?

This is completely Lavanya's episode, though it's a felicitous day for Payal and Akash and of course for Gupta family, but Lavanya's pain made it melancholic. I'm a bit prejudice about Arnav and Khushi. I literally can't see anybody beside Arnav rather than Khushi. I never liked La's close proximity with Arnav. But today I'm feeling so bad for that girl, a girl who gave up her identity for a man, to get his love in return. She completely transformed herself to fit in his family to win his love. But she couldn't. Cause love is strange, that can't be gotten how much you want it. And specially, if you wish to get love from ASR, it's more arduous to get. ASR's mind is impenetrable, his love is indecipherable. How much you try you can't get it. Cause it's precious than anything of this world. Only a lucky one can get it. And he can't split it or rather share it. He only can preserve it for a special one and that is only khushi.

Dear Sohara, My sentiments exactly, beautifully said.  I too was very jealous of La.  I wanted only Kushi in his life but I thank God for La because she made him see Kushi and fall for her.

Lavanya, an innocuous and forgiving soul. She couldn't be malignant to Khushi, as she snatched her boyfriend, albeit her love was one sided. But can we not put a little blame on ASR to hurt her like this? I can't, cause I know he tried to love Lavanya, he tried to hate Khushi. But he just couldn't. And Lavanya  realized it. She couldn't keep any anger or rancor for him, what remained was just her unconditional love for him.

True again.

Lavnaya is really upset, though she is telling that she is fine, but Arnav can assume her mental state. The shrill sound of music let them know that the party is already started.

The party is going on in full swing. Khushi is bringing Payal to join the party. She is looking just beautiful as a bride. Both the families got enamored and mirthful to see her.La descends down holding Arnav's arm as a couple for the last time. But she extricates herself as long as she got down. It doesn't go unnoticed by Arnav. He feels guilty again. La looks really languid and depressed. Nani teases her, won't she dance on "character dheela" song? La says sorry by holding her ears. Nani plays a prank with her, saying that she only can forgive her if she dances today. She pushes her to the dance floor.

"salame ishq" starts to play and La starts to move. Arnav is contemplating her keenly, feeling terribly sorry for her. La feels awkward and brings Khushi to join her. Both the girls move and groove rhythmically with the song, greets the love "salame ishq". They dance and do meaningful movements according to the words. When Khushi sees Shyam is watching her she just moves aside. When they were greeting ishq with their hand, La looks at Arnav intently. She must be feeling, "no ishq for me ASR?"

"tujhe sapno ka chanda mehboob mila hai.'

Khushi comes to Payal and Akash, she is feeling ecstatic for her sister that she got her prince charming.

"mere banno pyaari pyaari" she comes to La, she really loves her friend. She pushes Akash, Payal and La to the dance floor.

They all dance with merriment.

La notices Arnav is watching Khushi amusingly. Tears well up in her eyes. She is more sure now that Arnav is in love with Khushi and that's why he refused her. Khushi also notices Arnav's yearning gaze at her. She feels awkward and avoids him. Khushi sees tears in La's eyes and she is looking really upset. La goes to nani to take her blessings. Khushi is sure now that something is wrong. She comes to la and takes her to talk.

I felt terrible for La and that she didn't blame Kushi knowing she was still not sure about him.  True sisters.

Arnav thinks, it's the right time to tell the family about his decision. He tells Anjali that he needs to talk with them and mentions, only family. They all look ambiguous to hear that.

La avoids Khushi to answer. But Khushi is insisting her

"you tell me or not, but I know something is not right. A while ago when I came to your room, then also."

She can't complete as her look goes to her closet. It's empty.

"your eyes are telling the truth, you can't lie to me, your costume, I notice your emotions on the dance floor. You and Arnavji! Did you fight? Did he tell anything bad to you? Plz tell me, I'll talk to him. There should be some decorum to talk with one's fiance."

La nods her head no.

"chamkili, na mangetar, na aur kuch. Aabhi Humara koi rishta nahi."

"Neither fiance nor anybody, now we don't share any relationship."

Khushi is perplexed to hear that.

"let me tell you something. Plz don't get emotional at this. Cause I don't want it to affect, payal and Akash's engagement."

Arnav says it firmly. He takes some time to gather some courage and says sternly that he and Lavanya are not getting engaged. The family is flummoxed to hear this, mum, a complete silence for a while. Akash breaks the silence first,

'bhai, what happened that you are doing this?"

"it's because, we are not couple any more." Arnav answered him tersely.

Anjali starts to cry,

"chote, why suddenly? There must have a fight between you. But you know this type of small fight happens, for this reason?."

Arnav cuts her, "di there was no fight happened between us."

Nani glares at him,

"Then what is all this chote? You sometimes say I'll do the engagement tomorrow, sometimes say not gonna do it. Is it a game for you?'

Arnav retorts her that she may think whatever she wants to. But this is his life.

nani refutes him with nuance that his life is related to their life as well.

" It's a family and you are a part of this family. A subitaneous decision can not only affect your life, but will affect our lives too."

Arnav wishes not to talk about this matter now. Mami also wants to know, what's the problem. Anjali doesn't want to let him make this decision at the last moment. But Arnav is determined that if he wouldn't take the decision now, it would be late. Then will they agree?  He tells to leave the discussion and finish the engagement ceremony of Akash and Payal. Akash hesitates, how can he do the engagement now. Arnav tells him, "

whatever happens in my life, good or bad, it shouldn't affect your life. Lavanya was right, it shouldn't be revealed before Akash and Payal's engagement." love him for that

Mami got a chance to postpone the engagement.hate her for even trying

"MIL is right, if you don't get married then how Akash can?"

She wants to go right now to announce it.

Arnav stops her, says that Akash will sure get engaged. Nani agrees with Arnav but she asks him disdainfully that what happened between him and La that he is breaking the engagement? It's just not palatable for them. Arnav is not ready to talk about it now.

(I wish if he could say the reason that I fall in love with Khushi then nani would be happy for sure.)

Anjali feels a pang of pity for La,

 "how is Lavanyaji?'

Anjali's words makes him guilty again.

Pause: This is the first time I can't support nani. Nani, life is not a game, so anybody should think properly before to take a decision. If he would get engaged with La against his will, it would be a game. He is an honest person. He can't do knavery with his heart and La as well. I wish this over possessive elders would understand this.

Let me share a story of my friend. My guy friend is a med student and wanted to have an arrange marriage. He saw several girls, but couldn't decide as he is a bit picky. He liked a girl after meeting her officially with family. And the family decided to get them married. In the morning of the engagement day he saw her casually in the university. And unfortunately he didn't like her at all. He became very upset and told his Dad to call off the engagement. But his dad insisted him to continue the engagement as the bride's family did all the arrangement of the party. His dad told him that they will take care of this matter later. But after the engagement they just couldn't call off the alliance. And you know the guy has been married to the girl for two years and still he is very unhappy with her. He never was in love with any other girl before, but still, he can't love or like wife. He even can't leave her, cause she supposed to give her hundred thousand dollars if he breaks the marriage. In a muslim marriage, during the time of marriage, a groom has to commit to give a certain amount of money to the bride. I also feel bad for the girl. May be if she was married with someone else, she would get her deserving happiness.Cry

I married the wrong man even after breaking the engagement and he nearly killed me but if I hadn't married him and moved to his town I wouldn't have met my husband John.  You remember my valentine story.  Thank the good Lord my marriage to the idiot was annulled and I married the love of my life.  You jut know if it is right or wrong.  I am sad for your friend.

Arnav sees La and Khushi descend down from the stairs. Khushi gets exasperated to see Arnav. He wants to go and talk to him. But La admonishes her and instead say to chill. Khushi is angry, how can she chill.

"you didn't tell me the reason. So it must be him who is responsible."

La answers her without rancor,

"Whoever is responsible, the truth wouldn't be changed. plz promise, don't tell it anybody till Akash and Payal get engaged."

Khushi nods her head.

La can't tell her that the reason is you.

Arnav looks at them with a veiled, thoughtful expression on his face. Khushi glares at him.  She strides fast grabbing La's hand.

The engagement ceremony happened in a serene way. Except mami all are looking scrumptious and content. La is crying, must be in scorching pain, that her engagement supposed to take place right now. Arnav is standing beside her. Khushi feels sad to see La's teary eyes.

Bua is telling amma that something is wrong. The raizada family is looking tensed. Amma thinks what Arnav could tell them inside?

Akash and Payal take blessings of all. Babuji's face glints with merriment. He is smiling to see his daughter's happiness. Khushi hugs her sister warmly.

Arnav asks La whether he should make the announcement or not. La says him to go ahead. Arnav comes on the stage and first he congratulates both the families for Akash and Payal's engagement. He looks at La again for her affirmation. When La beckons yes, he announces that he and Lavanya are not getting engaged. Everybody in the party get flabbergasted to hear this.

He says that their reason is very personal and he thinks it's not a good idea to share it with all.

"In this circumstance let's not take away the happiness from the new couple."

He congratulates Akash and Payal. La who was crying incessantly tries to smile for Akash and Payal. I salute her generosity and goodness.

Arnav and La look at each other again. He wants to comfort her, say her sorry from the bottom of his heart. He cringes inwardly in compunction.

La turns away from him and intends to leave

Arnav descends down from the stage and move towards La. Khushi comes on his way.

"What is left to say to Lavnyaji, that you are moving towards her?"

(Uff Khushi, stop prying in other people's matter. Sometimes you intrude too much in other's life. I know you are concern for La and you know you have some kinds of right on your laad governor, but still you should inhibit yourself.)LOL

La comes and takes her aside,

"chamkili, it's not the right time to blame anybody. Whatever happened it's"

She can't complete. Anjali also joins them and asks her is she fine, what happened between them and Chote also didn't say anything. La says it's better to talk about it after the guest leave. she doesn't want to feel Akash and Payal sad. She takes Anjali with her.

Did she just avoid Khushi? I don't blame her. She should be indignant,, after all Khushi is somehow responsible for her broken relationship.Clap

Khushi is feeling bad for La,

"Poor lavanyaji, thinks so much about the family, but Arnavji?"

She grits her teeth in anger..

Hearing Arnav's voice she turns to him, glares at him grimly.

Episode 146

"Same Pinch"

She is fuming and if looks could kill he better duck.  Payal wants to know what happened with Arnav and Lavanya and she asks Akash but he has no explanation.

Kushi sees he is free and marches right up to him.  He asks her why she is behaving this way? She rants at him knowing he is the one and only ASR and he does what he pleases.  Does he know the condition La is in because of him.  He tries to answer her she just doesn't understand.  His eyes start to blaze and he grabs her arm and pulls her to their poolside.

The place where he is always comfortable and pretty much speaks the somewhat truth to her.

yes, it's his eternal heaven, who said this, I don't remember, may be ArshiH or Indi.

He tells her she doesn't know about the situation and she wants to know what excuse he used to break La's heart.

He can't really tell you Kushi.

His expression changes and he asks to her listen to what he has to say but she refuses.  She agrees with him when he said, he doesn't understand feelings and emotions.  All he understands is money and power.

"What profit will he make by hurting Lavanya by breaking the engagement," she asks him?

Only Khushi can retort ASR like this.

He looks deeply at her.  He doesn't want any profit he just wants Kushi.Clap  She asks him if he knows how a girl feels when alliance has been broken?  Kushi's eyes begin to glisten, her mood saddens, and she says 'when you are going to make a boy a part of your life and family and it all falls apart and then you see his real nature. Do you know how a girl feels when one's trust shatters? And then she slips, how can she trust anyone?' She looks at him you would never understand what one feels when that happens, when one's alliance breaks. He asks her and you do? And she says yes she does, she has been hurt for her alliance has broke.  He just stares at her. He asks her why didn't she tell him and just then, right there, did you see it, he slightly smiled with relief that her alliance has broke. yeah, yeah, I also noticed his smile. He looked quite happy. If it was not a Hindi soap, he will definitely kiss her hard.Wink

He asks her how did it happen and she answers she doesn't want to talk about it.  She wipes her tears and leaves him standing there; calling her name behind her

At the GH the ladies are placing Sashi in bed and talking about the nights events.  Buaji would like to strangle Shyam and his behavior was such of no remorse and acted like nothing ever happened.  Poor Anjali she has no idea of his reality.  Buaji finally sees what she done to push Kushi into the relationship. They also cannot believe what happened with ASR and Lavanya.  Kushi had prepared her for many months.  It is good that Kushi stayed back to comfort and share Lavanya's grief.  They also want to remain happy for their daughter Payal's happiness.

Kuashi is unpacking Lavanya's clothes.

 Lavanya is repacking her belongings.

Back and forth.

Forth and back, the same suit.

They are so cute during this scene, true sisters.  One wants the other to stay for the sake of their friendship.  They have become true friends, no longer mentor and student but true heart to heart sisters.

good bonding between sauten. LOLI love their friendship, really unconditional.

They stop and smile at each other, Kushi lets go of the hangar.

"Please don't go."

"Why should I stay?"

"What happened?"

"Why won't you tell me?"

She can't.

The family is questioning downstairs in the RM Arnav; he says the engagement is not going to happen no matter what they say.  Anjali asks him over and over and finally he says,

"If I told you...I can't Di.  Do not force me."

And he is more sure now, as he came to know, Khushi's engagement also broke.

He turns away from her.

Kushi asks then why did he bring Lavanya into his home and agrees to the engagement and then just before the engagement, break it.  He was wrong she said.  La says maybe but he must leave.  Anyways she will be at her wedding to Shyam.  Kushi looks away here it comes La be prepared.  Kushi gets up and walks away from La and says she won't. come.  NO? La asks won't she be invited to her wedding?  Nahi, she won't come because there is no wedding,

What do you call it she asks Lavanya?

"Same pinch".

Lavanya wants to know what happened.

Nani is furious.  She wants to know why he doesn't want t marry the woman he stood up for.  He kept fighting everyone for this relationship; a girl who has changed so much for the sake of this family and you.  You will leave her just like that.  No way Chotey there must be a big reason for this and they are entitled to know what it is.

nani is right. I wish she knew her grand son never loved La, but fall in love with her dear Khushi. He supported La as she was his guest and a good friend.

Kushi shows La her ring finger.  Her alliance has broken.  How, when, why?  All the questions that are simultaneously being asked of Arnav she is asking Kushi.  Why didn't she say anything?  Kushi answers just like she didn't say anything to her.  Same reason.

Kushi says so they both have had their engagements broken and she is sure that there is 'someone, somewhere out there' for La and herself.  They will just have to wait and see who gets their Rajkumar first and if Kushi meets her prince first then La will surely come to her wedding.

La relives the moments when ASR has mistaken her for Kushi and all those things he said to her and how he looked at her too.

Nahi, she will not be able come.

La takes Kushi's hand wanting to tell her something.  She thanks her for teaching her values and how to win people over with love.  Kushi says she always had it she just helped her to realize it.  La wants her to do one more thing for her.

The family is still insisting of reconciliation.  Everyone raises his or her own points.  Anjali asks Shyam to convince him after all he introduced La and ASR.  Shyam says it is his decision and if they think this isn't right then they have the right.

We have to admit that the creep is sagacious.

Why should they remain together if they are not happy?

Are you asking them or yourself that question, Shyam?Clap

ASR says he is not sure about the relationship so why make such a big commitment?  That is why he told her the truth.

La tells Kushi she needs to take care of ASR.  Kushi breaks hold from Lavanya.  La tells her she is the only one who can tell him what others can't.  The only one who gets through to him.  She understands him.  ASR doesn't know what he wants but she does, she is wise.  Kushi questions.  Lavanya takes her hand and says she will understand one day, whether he understands or not.  They embrace, both girls in tears.

La indirectly told Khushi that she is destined with Arnav.

Anjali asks him to talk to her again and Nani says she won't allow him to break the alliance.  La comes down holding Laxmi and says that it isn't necessary.  They have taken the decision together and it is all right.  She is all right.  Please don't just blame him in all this.  La says bye to her favorite mutton I don't know it just seemed OTT for me. and Anjali becomes upset. She is not letting her leave.  Why isn't anyone telling her anything?

La says it is okay and some relationships are just not meant to be.

very significant comment.like us, all blasters friends,we don't know each other personally, but very attached like sisters.what say?

We know this.

"No one is to blame or is at fault. It just doesn't happen and they are all still her family even if she doesn't marry into it."

La says her goodbyes ending with Di.  She asks her once again not to blame ASR.

He will marry...when he is ready.

So after 140 something episodes Lavanya Kashyap leaves ASR's life, the Raizada parivaar and us.  She came as a snooty aristocrat and left as a beautiful young woman filled with values.  We will miss her and Kushi and Lavanya were in the

"Same Pinch"... all along.Clap

really enjoyed Cynthia.
Feeling definitely bad for La, She has shown as a magnificent woman in IPK, a true well wisher and unconditional lover of ASR.
All the lines marked bold I liked.
 My comments are in pink.
Thanks for your comments and these two stood out the most for me.  So true!!!!!

And he is more sure now, as he came to know, Khushi's engagement also broke.

very significant comment.like us, all blasters friends,we don't know each other personally, but very attached like sisters.what say?

Yes we are IPK sisters, not by blood but by a stronger bond the bond and story of the transcendental love of Arnav and Kushi!

Thanks my sister blaster!

"itti saari..." was this just by chance or deliberate? the only other time i have heard asr use the more colloquial way of saying itna or itni was during that terrible and beautiful fight of first august. "itta aasan hai tumhare liye?"usually he'd say "itna" or "itni." maybe this was just barun slipping into easier pronunciation, but worked like a dream... a telltale slip indicating his heightened emotional state, the so rigid and precise world of asr not that much in control?

hi cynthia,
Embarrassed oh that was perhaps just me rambling. see, in any language almost, there's the formal way of saying a thing and the easier, more regularly used way. i notice a lot of my british friends say "sunthing" for "something." similarly the word for "this much"..."itna," may be pronounced as "itta" in a more punjabi/delhi sort of way. it's not the so called "proper" way of saying it.

usually asr's language has a smattering of english along with a very city sort of hindi... pronunciation tends to be formal.

barun is punjabi and brought up in delhi... itta/itti instead of itna/itni may come to him naturally... but funnily it was in two places where he was highly stressed emotionally that i noticed the usage... was wondering if there was a link... a dropping of his formal outer layer as he sort of gets lost in feelings.

i could be wrong and my hindi speaking friends are better judges of this... also maybe there were other places where he slipped to less formal and i didn't notice.

Wonderful heartfelt writing, Indi!
And what an episode!! Sohara and i chatted about it just a few days ago...
There's so much one can say about what happened here - the structure of its telling, the slightly 'off' reactions from Buaji and Amma, the quiet resilience of Payalia, the creepiness of Shyam and his manipulative ways, and above all, the near final blow to lovely Lavanya...but it all kind of pales...

...he sits at his recliner working, remembers her dashing into him at the poolside...  tears, helpless, silent... a slow close up... a world of feelings in  his inward gaze. she is on his mind, constantly. (So well put!)

as his fiance watches, he picks up his phone with a distracted air...

...All else feels strangely insipid, and behind by light years of this towering, tour de force performance! The compelling look of daze in the eyes and that involuntary drop in the decibel of voice...a hazy melting...fragile and nearly blank...uff, heart wrenching stuff!
...And that indescribable moment, which you aptly describe as an attempt at
"confession of his shortcomings to the woman he loves"...

...he walks away and with his back to her, his classic stance, he starts an apology that will lead to the realisation of a truth by lavanya... though still a tad unclear to him (slow boy, in matters of dil). How brilliantly you read his every move...

this is one of those unbelievably beautiful scenes of ipk which makes it a classic. a man in love, completely unaware that that's what it is, is making a confession of his shortcomings to the woman he loves, little realising it is not her but his fiance standing there listening. when he is in such deep emotion there seems to be only one person he reaches out to, whether she is there... or not.

I wrote somewhere else about how much i long for this scene to linger each time i watch. He speaks with such overwhelming emotion...aahhh! Let him speak, i feel like saying to Lavanya...but you are right, she has to stop him...
"for her sake. for his sake"... but me...I want him to go on... If only she could take a mo----ment longer before she stops him. That hand of hers reaching for the shoulder, if only it could be a we----ee bit slower! I so want to share this man's anguish in this moment, for he is trying, he is expressing... it is the rarest of rare moments.

As i take it in, I cannot resist an ode to ASR the formidable who is not himself in this moment - a couplet by the oft-misunderstood gem of Urdu poetry, Akbar Allahabadi...

Jo meri hasti thi mit chuki hai, na aqal meri na jaan meri,
Irada unka dimagh mera, khyal unka zaban meri..

...For the man who has lost his bearing and his being...his mind whirls and so do his words, but only for her..the one whose thoughts consume him...and in this elusive moment, he knows nothing else..  "a man in love, completely unaware that that's what it is".

And I loved the following:

sublime insight into a state of mind. and of course, barun sobti's acting leaves you shaken to the core. this is a real man talking here... a soliloquy so beautiful, it would get etched in our minds... "main bas aisa hi hoon," words that would become quotable in no time.

Thoroughly enjoyed madam!

issk,

there in pink Clap Clap Clap. especially the second para... you express a feeling  that was possibly in every viewer's mind... certainly mine. he is expressing... it is the rarest of rare moments. beautiful.

that quote, though i am not familiar with the poet... is apt and heady. jo meri hasti thi mit chuki hai... for a moment it does feel like that. it is an immersion in khushi, and it had to come at a moment unexpected... in a skillful writer's mind an amazing moment comes about, on the one hand a rare treat for the audience... on the other, a smooth way of effecting a separation from his girl friend. that hand on the shoulder... what a subtle and powerful sign of getting the point.

later, again a hand on the shoulder, to stop la from not accepting the truth... not hearing it. niiice, don't ya think?
