Yes..story is stupid. We are sitting on the internet being exposed to our intellectual searches and passing judgement.
Kundan is a small town boy with small town ideals in India where love is still a huge thing and slashing wrists is indeed common. They do not know any other way to express love. I am from a small town and I have received love letters in blood from boys who studied in vernacular schools and do not have much exposure to outside world. It works in the films context. My 2 cents.
