Sushant to play the legendary Byomkesh

YRF and Dibakar Banerjee have roped in Sushant Singh Rajput to play the title role in their upcoming film Byomkesh Bakshi based on the popular detective character that was later adapted as a television series in the 90s. This is the first in a series that will feature Bengali best-selling writer Saradindu Banerjee's creation in a Hindi feature film.

"Sushant has that dormant volcano thing about him that is just right for my Byomkesh," says Dibakar about his leading man. "He looks so quiet, so self-absorbed and withdrawn. Sushant loves challenges and that is his USP," he says, adding, "We are rebooting Byomkesh. Right back to his first case. I had plans of naming the film Byomkesh Begins." In a contemporary interpretation of war-torn Calcutta during the 1940s, the film follows the first adventure of Byomkesh, fresh out of college, as he pits himself against an evil genius out to destroy the world. "It's his wit against the most villainous arch criminal the world has seen, in a world of murder, international political intrigue and seduction," adds Dibakar.

I think Dibakar Banerjee will give a modern take to Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. It will be interesting to see Sushant play the character. Out of all the films signed by him, I am most excited about this one and Abhishek's film.

@Bold - completely agree... Sushant definitely has an unknown thing about him, that makes me believe that he will nail this character...

Looking forward to seeing him in this new avatar...

jaak even YRF confirmed it Big smile

Thanks for sharing.
What's your name by the way?Smile
I'm Sharon. The younger ones call me "di".Smile

I hope the mention of "seduction" in the article doesn't mean Sushant will have to act very explicit "romantic" scenes.Unhappy
Hope they rely on expressions and "pavitra" romance, e.g. SRK style.

ur WC  Hug

i m Ramisa Smile and i guess i will have to call u Sharon di as well cause Afsara calls u that and me and Afsara are of the same age Smile

yea i guess the movie contains too many, as they say ''seductive'' scenes, but i wish the same that it duzn't gets over the top and remain ''pavitra'' so that we can watch it with our family too

ikr mayu...yaar this scene is like sth which i really want to watch but i cnt bear to watch!!!

the brilliant acting of Sushi as well as the other actors, the pain and guilt on Amit's face, Sushi's shocked look when he realized that his best frnd has shot him and Ishaan lying lifeless at the end of the stairs...all these things just made the scene marvellous but at the same time its so painful to watch, to watch a besty killing the other besty, the death of a pure soul and loss of the only son/brother!!!

There will be so many films on detectives next year. There is one with Ranbir directed by Anurag Basu, Rajeev K is playing detective in Rajshri's next and then there is the Sushant-Dibakar film. Like this year is full of romance, next year will be all about suspense.  Competition will be intense.
