Father of Pratap, Uday Singh is not only a brave Rajput king but also a very clever ruler. For the sake of his people's wellbeing he accepts to rule under the subjugation of the Afghans but is always secretly plotting ways to wage war against them and free his motherland from their rule! He is deeply respected by his family and people. He is a stickler for following the rules laid down by him. He is ruthless and unforgiving in his approach if his principles and rules are challenged. He spares none, in this regards not even his own son Pratap. He loves Pratap deeply but does not show it openly. Uday Singh is an idol for his son Pratap. |
RANI JAIVANTABAI | |
Jaivantabai is the mother of Pratap and the eventual Rajmata of Mewar. She is not loud or ostentatious like the other queen Bhatiyani. She is Pratap's mentor and teacher who trains Pratap by telling him stories of their ancestors to inspire him and make him a brave and fearless Rajput who will one day take over the reins of the kingdom. Though she is deeply respected by Uday Singh and given the importance of being the first queen, she is still not loved by him as the young Queen Bhatiyani takes precedence over her in this respect. Yet she never complains. Instead she turns all her attention to her dear son Pratap. |
SAJJABAI SOLANKI | |
She is the mother of Shakti Singh and Vikramdev. She is a simpleton who does not understand the politics of the palace. She believes that the world is a nice place and evil doesn't exist. She cannot keep a thing to herself and always carrying news from one section of the palace to another. Hence she is always led on by others even her own sons. |
DHIRBAI BHATIYANI | |
Bhatiyani is the ethereally beautiful young queen of Uday Singh. Uday Singh is head over heels in love with her. Bhatiyani is manipulative and eventually to get her own son Jagmal to be the heir to the throne be the heir to the throne she even wants to end Pratap's life. Though she has all the attention of Uday Singh, she does not like being secondary in importance to queen Jaivantabai. |
BHIL GURU RANA PUNJA RANA | |
Punja is the leader of the Bhils. He is strong, handsome but in a very rugged sense. The Bhils are neglected by the Mewar rulers, so they feel very disconnected by their king Uday Singh and the Mewar kingdom. They start living, isolated from the kingdom. The resentment against Mewar is very deep in Punja. He is very raw and proud of his tribe but also capable of blind devotion. Initially he doesn't trust Pratap at all and tries to keep him away from them. It is only when Pratap proves that he a true son of the soil and breaks bread with them that Punja becomes a close friend of Pratap. |
MANSINGH SONGARA | |
He is maternal uncle to Pratap. He understands all the politics of the household. He is like a mentor to Pratap, always guiding him and teaching him about the dynamics of the kingdom and the enemy. |
RAIMAL | |
Raimal is the brother of queen Bhatiyani. He belongs to Jaisalmer. He initially never understands what his sister is up to and what she wants. But slowly realizes that she is more poisonous than a snake. He executes for her all the plans to remove Pratap who is a hurdle in the way of his nephew Jagmal's quest for the throne. |
SAINDAS CHUNDAWAT | |
Saindas Chundawat, belonging to Chundawat clan, is a key associate to the king in running the kingdom. Chundawat clan has been associated with the royal family of Mewar for a long time now. He is above all the nobles and is the most significant advisor to the king and the administrators of the state in the presence or absence of the king. He is the most respected among all and the only person who never hesitates to speak his mind to Udaisingh, even if his opinion is against Udaisingh's. |
