Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and celebrating motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society. This year Mothers Day falls on 13th May,Sunday and so this week spamdomain thought of doing an interesting research on Reel Mothers of our small screen Vs Real mothers of our Society . There are lots of similariteis as well as differences between our reel and real mothers . While majority of the small screen mothers are loving and caring towards their kids just like the real mothers of our society which is a basic similarity , few of the small screen mothers at times go on to sacrifice their kid's happiness for greater interest of the family unlike the real mothers of our society who are mostly selfish when it comes to their own kids which is one of the major differences between reel mothers of TV and Real mothers of our society .

There was a classic era of daily soaps like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi ,Kahaani Ghar Ghar ki and Kasauti Zindagi kay which gave some of the real idealistic mothers in the form of Tulsi ,Parvati and Prerna who showed us both sides of a mother's love from sacrificing their own happiness for the sake of their children's happiness to even going to the extreme of punishing or getting their child arrested or even killing their own child when it came to giving a fair justice to the society . This was the era when daily soaps gave us larger than life Mothers who more or less represented the Mother India style of Parenting . However in real world , rarely a mother can go to the extent of killing their own child or getting them arrested even if the child turns out to be a murderer . In Real world most of the mothers are practical and selfish when it comes to the future of their kids which is quite natural and human as for any mother ,her child is the top most priority before anything else . However when it comes to daily soaps ,the logic changes a bit as many times the female lead who is a mother as well as bahu needs to take a selfless decision for her family which might go against her child at times . If sources are to be believed, then Zee TV's show Pavitra Rishta will soon show the dilemma of a mother Archana who will have to choose between her own daughter and her adopted daughter's happiness but in the end she will opt for the happiness of her adopted daughter Purvi over her own biological daughter Ovi . Mayb the situation would have been opposite in real world . However one cannot deny the fact that whether it's the reel or real world , mothers will always think of giving the best future to her child in the long run .

Recent Daily Soaps like Punarvivah and Na Bole tum na Maine Kuch kaha have successfully highlighted the struggles of single mothers like Aarti and Megha who are determined to give a happy and peaceful life to their kids irrespective of whether they have the support of the society or not .Eventually as per the trademark rule of a daily soap , a prince charming in the form of a father comes in the life of their kids and the single mother no more remains single thus resulting in their second marriage and also their kids finally getting a father . But in real life , there are very few cases where a single mother can successfully remarry again and so the struggle of a single mother in real world is much more difficult and challenging than our reel world of daily soaps where eventually every single mother finds her prince charming .

Daily soaps have even presented Mothers in the form of evil Vamps too who can go to the extent of using their own kids for their own selfish motives . Whether it's the famous character of Ramola Sikand from Kahin Kisi Roz or the latest character of Imarti Devi from Colors new show Kairee , these characters have gone to the extent of using their own sons to keep their power and prestige intact in the family . However few of the daily soaps have shown powerful but positive form of a Mother too like Kokila of Saathiya or Bhabho of Diya aur Baati or Savita of Pavitra Rishta, where even though they are dominating in nature but as a mother they always make sure that they get the best for their son . However in real world ,we wonder if we get such extreme faces of a mother ,either too evil or too dominating..

Even Reality shows today are focusing on the struggles of a mother trying to save her own womb with cases of female infanticide rapidly increasing . Superstar Aamir Khan's first reality show on TV Satyamev Jayate dedicated its first episode to all those brave mothers of India who have successfully fought against the society to give birth to their girl child and bring out a positive change in society by fighting against the injustice of killing girl fetus in their own family . The first episode of this reality show salutes the courage of a Real Mother of our Society thus trying to bridge the gap between the Reel world of television and the Real world.
