Chinese Grand Prix 2013 – Winner and Reviews

Shanghai International Circuit was all set to host the 3rd Race of the Formula 1 Season of 2013. As mentioned in our earlier post Malaysian Grand Prix 2013 – Winner and Reviews, the second race was filled with drama and action. So did the Chinese GP live up to the expectations? How was the starting grid, who won the race, was there any controversies during the race? Well, hang on, all you need to do is sit back and relax. As iDubba has all the details for you right here.

Sebastian Vettel from Red Bull Racing-Renault had managed to win the previous race; hence all eyes were on him for the Chinese Grand Prix. But the he was on the 9 position after the qualifying round. The starting grid looked like this – 1. Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes-Mercedes, 2. Kimi Raikkonen, Lotus-Renault 3. Fernando Alonso, Ferrari-Ferrari 4. Nico Rosberg, Mercedes-Mercedes 5. Felipe Massa, Ferrari 6. Romain Grosjean, Lotus-Renault 7. Daniel Ricciardo, Toro Rosso-Ferrari 8. Jenson Button, McLaren-Mercedes 9. Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull-Renault 10. Nico Hlkenberg, Sauber-Ferrari and the remaining 12 followed them.

Hamilton led from the start for Mercedes, but it was very difficult to contain Alonso's challenge. By the end of fifth lap, Alonso managed to get past Hamilton. Soon Felipe Massa too joined Alonso, and was in second place. Alonso had things under control and with his perfect pit-stops; he had managed to take a healthy lead. Alonso was never really troubled, nursing his tyres yet maintaining a fierce pace. But Raikkonen and Hamilton had to battle to keep Vettel and Button in sight.

But there was nothing that could stop Alonso and after 56 laps and he did pass the Chequered Flag. After three rounds, Vettel still leads the title chase with 52 points, from Raikkonen on 49, Alonso on 43, Hamilton on 40, Massa on 30 and Webber on 26. In the constructors' stakes, Red Bull has 78, Ferrari 73, Lotus 60, Mercedes 52, and McLaren and Force India 14.

The next race will be held in Bahrain on April 21. So do you think Vettel will be able to maintain his lead? Or will Raikkonen and Alonso catch up with him in the next race?
