Remember this?

Among the plethora of channels and shows on TV, some of them stand out. In fact, certain scenes are still etched in our memory, either because of the way they were shot, their interesting plots or simply because of the performances. We have picked up a few that were compelling enough to make it to the list...

The 'Jassi dreaming about Armaan sir' scene
Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin had quite a handful of memorable scenes including Jassi's dramatic makeover but the cutest one was when Jassi and her boss Armaan 'sir' meet in a club and do a slow dance to the eternally romantic Sooraj hua maddham number. It so happens that Jassi is sitting alone when Armaan walks up to her, chats up briefly and then admits to being nervous about marrying Mallika, and that their marriage may not be a happy one. Jassi sweetly hears him out when he tells her, "I shouldn't be sharing my sad stories with you," to which she replies, "No, sir, we are friends, we should share all our problems with each other". She then dreams of dancing with him to the SRK-Kajol song. That small scene was filled with Jassi's innocence, the love she feels for her boss and even Armaan's fondness for her. The duo complemented each other perfectly.

The 'Tulsi shoots Ansh' scene in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi
Inspired by Mother India, when TV's own ideal mata Tulsi Virani bumped off her errant son, Ansh in Kyunki Saas bhi Kabhie Bahu Thi, it made for great viewing! Touted to be the mother of all scenes, it had Tulsi pumping bullets into him after high-octane dramebaazi. Bollywood action director Alan Amin had designed the entire awe-inspiring sequence. When it was finally shown on screen, an entire nation of baa, bahus and betis waited with bated breath as Tulsi, the epitome of virtue, took law into her own hands and shot Ansh to protect her daughter-in-law, Nandini!

The 'Bajaj-Prerna wedding scene' in Kasauti Zindagi Kay
This one was the mother of all tearjerkers. After all, it involved one of TV's most well-loved couples, Prerna (Shweta Tiwari) and Anurag (Cezanne Khan). In this scene, the savvy businessman Bajaj (Ronit Roy) marries Prerna and Anurag races against time to stop it, but fails. A heartbreaking scene, as a teary-eyed Prerna reluctantly takes the saat pheras, looking longingly at the door, hoping to see Anurag. But he makes it just when she takes the last phera and goes away from his life leaving him and us crestfallen.

The 'death scene of Mihir Virani' in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi
His death sent shockwaves throughout the country but it was his wife Tulsi's breakdown scene when she sees his dead body that still makes our hair stand on end. It was a heart-wrenching scene, and Smriti Irani's superb portrayal of a grieving wife must have touched every woman's heart. Of course, producer Ekta Kapoor ensured the scene was milked for all its melodramatic worth; after all the ghar ka chirag had died. It also led to more elaborate death and funeral scenes in her and other serials as well. Most importantly, Mihir's death and his subsequent return from the grave proved that the audience loves their TV characters a bit too much!

The 'Dadisa marrying off little Jagya secretly' scene
Most of the scenes in Balika Vadhu are memorable especially those involving little Anandi and Jagya. But one sequence that has stayed in mind is when Dadisa, the doting granny decides to get Jagya married again without the family's knowledge. With Anandi losing her memory partially, Dadisa feels she will not be able to perform her wifely duties and so decides to marry her grandson again to a girl from a poor family. While the wedding takes place, Jagya's and Anandi's parents reach the venue and spoil the fun. What's more, the new bride's parents are in for a shock too to see Jagya's first wife Anandi. It was an emotionally charged scene where each character goes through turmoil and shame at Dadisa' s actions and at the heart of it, three little lives – that of Anandi, Jagya and the new child-wife – changing forever.

The 'chalo Anushka Sarkar ka munh
kaala karo' scene in Kya Hua Tera Vaada
This one still makes one shudder. Absolutely courageous of Mouli Ganguly aka Anushka Sarkar to have agreed to do this scene where a naari shakti morcha arrive at PRadip and Anushka's house, drag her out and then blacken her face and garland her with chappals for being the other woman in Mona (Mona Singh's) life! That it's Anushka's activist-mother at whose behest it's done added insult to injury. Mouli brought out the hurt, anger and shame required for this scene quite effectively. No wonder, it stayed on in our mind!

The 'Manav-Archana- wedding in Pavitra Rishta
Though there have been many weddings done in style on TV this one truly looked real with Archana and Manav, one of the best looking and most-loved couples looking every inch the var and the vadhu. Done in a typically Maharashtrian style, the wedding was shot lavishly at RK Studios with the channel inviting viewers to be part of the spectacle. There was the mandatory naach gaana and most importantly, the dcor, the ambience, the costumes, everything reminded of a real Maharashtrian wedding. That Archana Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput, a real-life couple looked perfect as the reel bride and groom added to the whole charm.

The 'Tapasya marrying Ichha's fianc by dhoka' scene.
'Tappu' and 'Ichhki' are the best of friends. Tappu is the rich girl with the silver spoon and Ichhki, a maid's daughter. Initially, they complete each other with their love and friendship, but cracks soon develop when the man Tapasya loves falls for Ichha instead. A spurned Tapasya then emotionally blackmails Ichha by threatening to commit suicide and eventually dons her bridal joda! The entire wedding takes place without anyone knowing that it's actually Tapasya who's sitting as a bride under the ghoonghat while a widow-like Ichha is left nursing her wounds. Touching? Totally.

The 'coming off of Nakusha's dark colour' scene in Lagi Tujhse Lagan
It had to happen sooner or later. Nakusha, the dark, ugly daughter of a poor mother had a secret alright and that was, she wasn't what the world thought she was. Nakusha's truth had to come out some day and the scene in which it did was a revelation alright. The villain in the show is on her chase and the entire village gathers around her when accidentally a water pipe bursts and Nakusha is drenched to the bone – slowly the dark soot comes off her body and her beautiful face. The viewers were as surprised as her 'gaonwalas' to see their 'Nakku' turn from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan.
