Sultan's Self Disclosure : What I liked here is Sultan revealing something of his past to Padmini in a matter of fact manner...not making any excuses or projection for the profession he has chosen...Sultan showing his humane side to Padmini which has been a rarity, but he certainly owed them at least this...both AR and PP carrying out their respective parts with conviction...
Madhu's Confrontation : "I know that you're selfish, selfish beyond words, and I know that you haven't the nerve of a rabbit, I know you're a liar and a humbug, I know that you're utterly contemptible. And the tragic part is notwithstanding I love you with all my heart." ( W. Somerset Maugham)...these lines came to me when I saw Madhu's expressions when she demanded answers to RK's out of character behavior...I needn't reiterate here that this was the best part for me...What made it more appealing to me was that for the first time Madhu put RK in the back foot...Today it was him who had no answer to Madhu's questions...DD again excelled here and VD did his best to match up to her...
RK's self-denial : Just like whenever he has tried to or been forced to introspect, he goes back into his denial mode...He reminds me of an ostrich burying it's head in the sand...Herein, just like Madhu, wanted to shake him up and put some sense into him...
Madhu's Avowal : What can I say here but that one of my presumptions coming true...Sultan bidding Madhu adieu with a promise that She would be the one who would take custody of Aryan if anything untoward happened to him...Am liking this unspoken bonding that has developed between them...and it's this faith that gave Sultan the courage to seek this promise from Madhu...both DD and AR were effortless here...
Overall, an episode that was more a sort of laying down of base-line for all the things to come up in near future...A very interesting build-up has begun I would say...
Today's retro is perfect for this alienated couple, one because of his ego and other due to her self-respect, won't unite :
